The pre rut is my favorite time to hunt. Rut activity is starting to kick off, the temperatures aren't too terrible, and deer aren't too pressured just yet. But don't think just because the pre rut is on that you should go diving in to bedding areas, or you should break out those all day sits. In this video we go over three tips for hunting the pre rut.

If you see deer consistently should you put a tree stand in that area.

Yes if the access is good. You’ll also want to be aware of how the wind will act. Sometimes places with lots of deer sign are bad places to hunt because the wind constantly swirls.

I’m trying to get my first trad bow kill. It’s hard. Shooting a traditional recurve in the stand is way different than practicing in my back yard.

Depends where you are. Here in missouri it starts toward the end of October.

Just started deer hunting I'm 25 got a cross bow and I hunt a lot of public land my first trip I saw 8 deer and actually ran right into one what's the best thing to do on public land? Since there's multiple hunters out there also I don't care if it's a buck or doe lol

Best thing to do is find the thick cover and try to figure out where the other hunters are. You can use their pressure to your advantage.

Remember you don't always have to go far from the parking areas. Lots of hunters on public go way back to get to the spots where other hunters don't go.. well guess what everyone goes way back....lol. I've shot a lot of 130s to 150s 100 yards from the parking spots. I wait in my truck till all the others go way back... and they push the deer to me. Especially if you have private property fences the deer flock to for escape from the hunters. Look for creek bottoms to hunt also, a lot of rutting takes place in creek bottoms. Find the does and hunt down wind because the bucks will cruise smelling for a hot doe. The does not in heat will hide from the bucks pressuring them too. Good luck 👍

@@SuperDave-pe1zw well in my state it's illegal to hunt closer then 150yrds from the parking lot or road but I definitely understand what your putting down I've been walking 2-3 miles in and not seeing much lol

@@zackbiggins8070 ya that's kind of a crappy law. Look for fence crossings on a Ariel map. If you have any fences around the public? Once you find a spot or two they usually produce year after year. Good luck.
