I think this is one of the best instructional tree videos I have seen on youtube ... at least that I can remember. The video format of the teacher filming the student while the teacher instructs and the student follows and interacts --- it is as if the viewer is there, doing the work.... much more so than if the filmer just explains what he himself is doing (although that is helpful too). ... but it struck me as quite an effective video/teaching technique. But, way to go, James. James is very fortunate to have such a patient, thorough, knowledgeable, caring teacher. Y'all look like you make a great team. Thanks for the video.

Man I love this sh*t. I find it soothing and therapeutic. I can feel myself swaying in the treetops with you. I wish I would have had you as my instructor when I started tree trimming. You are very good at explaining the important points very simply and the reasoning behind it. Also love watching you whip out your rope work like a master -you've been doing this awhile I can tell. Excellent, professional work.

It is so nice to have someone do this training with. I am learning all by myself in south Florida it is hard and dangerous but I love to be on the tree. Thanks for your videos.

Glad to see James appears to respect the gift you're giving to him, KEEP IT UP JAMES.. Also wanted to thank you for your time to take me along as well. Not to mention helping make Gilman studies available. For a poor man struggling to piece together my gear as I can, this imfo is PRICELESS to me while I'm studying/practicing low on used rope. Trying to get a hitch climber system, your green rope looks tough and has good hand to it ? Thanks in advance for your time to read. Stay safe bro

I appreciate you taking the time to post something like this, I've been logging my spare hours learning at my snails pace and seeing someone else go through it with assistance is at the least reassuring that I too will get to that point. I'd watch more of these types of videos if you've got them!!

i remember learning to climb like it was yesterday...its not easy at all trusting your weight and your life to just hang from a rope..took me a while to trust my rigging but once i did i was way more mentally secure hanging from my ropes then standing on a limb..i learned from ole school guys who didnt pay much mind to safety..just fly up 80ft..and strat skinning with just a beat up lanyard..i never do that..always have a safety line also as i once broke a gaff rite inside a tulip tree and slid down bout 5 ft cause had no safety line...i much prefer nowadays to do just bout all my work from the safety of my rear mount bucket...i will figure out a way to get her into the tightest of spots or whatever it takes so i dont have to climb but still put the geckoes on every now and then..good videos brother..stay safe..

Great job with teaching James. I wish that I had a mentor when I first started out. I would love to work with an experienced climber even still today But there is few tree guys that teach up here in maine. You have a great personality and disposition for teaching. Plus you are very knowledgeable about the job.. Great vid and Great job Shane Chelsea, Maine

You do a very good job of teaching. The only thing I would critique is don't teach the daisy chain knot. It can get hooked up in a crotch or a limb in get untied.
