The ancient secret from dynasties past is that they're using etiquette to hide the fact that they wouldn't know how to fight a southpaw swordsman. Nor how to fight with their own sword in either hand. Much easier to just say it's improper. (Joking... partially anyway 🤣)

I assume in olden days that while in the left hand the Jian would be in it's scabbard & moving it to the right is emulating how one would draw it?

In the US, at least through the 1950s, parents and teachers would try to convert all left handed kids into right handed.

in a way yes, you connect meridian points at the fingers with each other, on the other way tho it's for simulating the other sword or your shield , remember all of this TCMA were meant to defense and fight in many war or warlike scenarios

It feels very natural when you're directing your energy out though the tip of the sword, you want the opposite end to have the same direct, pointed energy. Try this. Take one hand, close your thumb over your pinky, ring and middle finger and hook your pointer finger. Extend your arm forward directing your energy out the pointer finger knuckle. This is similar to holding a straight sword. We'll call this the sword hand. With your other hand, extend that arm out the opposite direction. First keep that palm open and see how it feels in your sword hand. Next close the thumb over the pinky and ring finger and keep pointer finger and middle finger extended, ie make "sword fingers". Can you feel the difference in the energy in the sword hand? You should feel more directed outward energy out your knuckle finger when the other hand is in sword finger position.
