Leaving the "tripping" leg straight and not completing the throw in more a lunge stance is just asking to have your knee destroyed when it's sideways like that, what's to stop your opponent from blocking, stepping, landing or falling on your knee when it's lateral and completely blowing it out

That's what wanted to say. If uke lands on your leg, your knee will blow out. To be save i bend my knee and hold it just above the tatami. If uke steps or lands on it i will be save.

exactly, this lazyness can be attributed on the guy doing the moves having ukes that know how to fall.. but dear god if he shows this technique to overweight noobie.
