These sleds are PERFECT for flatland trails in areas where trails are never far from a house. The quiet nature and access to the power grid make this a winner for those trails.

Removal Battery packs would be a great idea/option to have. Design the battery to be taken out and charged like a power tool principle. Make it able to attach to the tunnel to carry extras and make sure they're no heavier than a jerry can of gas. I think that would address a lot of the concerns.

Even before that, at 6:35 or so, you can hear the motor and almost equate the amount of torque it is making. It doesn't even sound as though it's working hard to move that heavy-ass sled through the trees. Just imagine the improvement in performance when they begin using improved battery technology to make these sleds even lighter. Would be nice to see an experienced mountain rider pilot one of these sleds just to see what it can really do.

@catwelder6890
@catwelder6890 2 года назад
The problem with electric motorcycles is the range. They are nice, comparable to gas bikes but your not going to run the Trans Continental Trail on one. The same will be the deciding factor for the sleds. The can compete with gas but are limited in what type of riding you do. I'm aboard for electric ,they need to come up with longer run times and quick charging that can be done in the field.
@petersmith9845
@petersmith9845 2 года назад
Wonder how electric would be in the deeper powder…instant torque and power from a dead stop must make it rather easy to handle when ur going slower - Ive only had 9 days on a mountain sled over the last 3 years so forgive me if this sounds stupid but I feel like with the responsiveness of an electric sled you could get away with a much shorter track without a lot of trade offs - curious to see where this goes! It seems like a super capable machine despite any shortcomings with range
@specforged5651
@specforged5651 2 года назад
It all depends on depth of snow. Power or instant power really isn’t the issue. It’s floatation and traction. You can actually go slower with a longer track because of the traction it provides. You have to ride a shorter track much more aggressively and faster through the trees in deep snow in order to keep momentum. Even with a longer track, say 165 mountain sleds are so nimble and maneuverable length really isn’t as big of deal as you may think. “Turning radius” I guess you could say isn’t much different at all between a 146 and 165. That’s the simple version because there are a lot of variables with slope and snow condition. Hopefully that helps your question.

This isnt the future. As we grow and become more reliable on electric..the prices will soar and be impossible to maintain over time.. the technology is there..your watching it...however the manufacturing of these batteries that contain these special metals and alloys will never get cheaper. Thats why we call them precious metals.. Would you be okay spending 5 grand every 2-3 yrs to replace your battery?. Highly unlikely!. Costs will only increase...and demand will decrease..And dont forget how clean these new snowmobiles are. Emissions are next to none with the new standards..and they will continue to only get better.

Hey… Put a deposit on one almost 2 years ago… Was scheduled to test ride one in Whistler last March but COVID put an end to their test rides…! Anyone do any deep Alpine riding on one of these yet..? They say 140 km likely back East Flat riding…! I rarely ride more then 50 km in the Alpine… However that’s riding from Sea Level to 6000 feet… Anyone know how much battery this will go through Alpine riding in deep powder…? Thanks in advance;

I've always thought that electric motor propulsion was custom made for snowmobiles. Think of how many loud turbine three and four cylinder 2-stroke engines screaming through the mountains have brought down avalanches on our friends and family members and killed them.

First of all the only 3 and 4 cylinder sleds you’re going to see anymore are four strokes....so there goes that “screaming 2 stroke” theory ( FYI “turbine” sleds are actually quieter). And second, how many of your family members, close friends or hell even anyone you know has this happened to? I could go on for paragraphs at how ridiculous your comment is. And do some research on sound causing avalanches. But please let us know the number of people you personally know that have been killed in the situation you’re describing. And be honest. Go back to humping bunnies, just make sure your not standing right under one of those slopes your talking about when a screamin 2 stroke goes by and brings an avalanche down on you. Unreal

No, incorrect. I had a skidoo ace 600 would go over 200 miles full of hard riding. Many 2-strokes I had can do over 150 miles. Electric has come along way but battery improvement is still much needed for range to be on the same level with gas.
