For a cheaper alternative, the Osprey Straightjacket 12l compression stuff sack fits perfectly and even has a carry handle 👍

Because it adds very minimal weight and if I stay at a hotel, I can easily grab all the contents of my aeropack without it spilling all over the floor. Is that okay for you?

@@user-zo8ck6kg1nThe Aeropack is permanently attached to the rack I believe.

Last year I've used Peak Design's packing cube and it worked perfectly. Good to see Tailfin picked up the ball and brought in their own solution. edit: I am tempted now to get 6L...

I just ordered a new arch and the mini paniers for my aeropack. That's enough money spend on Tailfin products for the forseable future. That said, the 6.5l cube looks really nice...

I’ve been really impressed with the Tailfin gear that I have so far. They definitely seem to think about how their products will be used in the real world. I’m about to purchase a rear rack so am looking forward to trying it out. 😁

Looks like a better system than what I use as I have to remove my dropper to use my rear pack. But, I would never pack my quilt with my tent as the tent is almost always wet in the morning. Thanks for the vid.

Wow. They just added the 16L panniers (after I had bought two 10s) and now these bags. The 6.5 looks just perfect for stuffing my sleeping bag.

Looking great those cubes. But, would you really pack your shelter and your sleeping bag/quilt in the same cube? I wouldn't even use the same bag compartment for it, as that's a receipt for disaster in miserable weather. I would recommend using a clear "dry" and "wet" separation system, on all trips, with a bike or on a hike.

They look good and very well made, but like you said they are a bit too large. I will make some a bit smaller and for way less money!

Does the 10L one provide as much compression as a sleeping bag compression sack? Not sure how much more I could compress my bivy and sleeping pad, compared to rolling them tight.

there is no 10L version, The 6.5L version is the largest, and it basically acts as a compression sack, it might does not compress as much, but I was surprised and happy I could fit my full 1person tent and 20* bag in the 6.5L cube. I have a compression sack for my down sleeping bag and I would certainly leave that at home for this system next time.

Do you also have the 10l panniers? If so, does the largest packing cube fit inside that?
@BIKEPACKINGcom

the 6.5L fits in the 10L fork pack perfectly, so I assume it works well for the 10L mini pannier, but I dont have those.

Thank you for checking. They're both the same size so it sounds like it will be perfect for the pannier bag too.

Okay I have to ask because it's driving me mad, the twang sound that appears at 0:24, is it a sound effect that's added in post production, or some kind of resonance in the room the audio is being recorded in?? I hear it in a lot of videos and can never tell, it always sounds too quiet and panned to one side to be deliberate

This Tailfin gear looks smart but it’s kinda expensive… my solution was an Ortieb rack and a 31 ltr Rack Pack strapped to it. Great waterproof bag with full length closure.

How do you attach the rack pack to the rack? Does it hang off the rack?
@Charlie-vw9ur
@Charlie-vw9ur 4 месяца назад
I have used 2 Rox motorcycle/atv straps which are really good. Shame I can’t add a photo here ? Yeah I was concerned the bag might droop over the rack but no problem, thinking of putting a 2mm plastic sheet in the base just to give it some structure.

as a passionate bikepacker I was fairly surprised to see advertisement related to cars. I was wondering if the decision to take a car related brand as sponsor has been subject of broader discussions?

No one has here, but open it right up. I’m pretty good at riding from home, but i’ll travel from time to time in my car for day rides or bikepacking trips where public transit is not an option. 1UP USA makes USA made products that are built to last and does not come with any plastic. Its a great option if someone is looking for a bike rack for vehicle. Not to mention, they help make this channel sustainable, something I hope others can appreciate.

Wait a second, how does the Aeropack claim 20L of capacity when putting three cubes totaling 12.5L maxes it out? 🤔
@coreyreeder3549

Let’s not be surprised that it’s expensive. It’s a premium product. Not for everyone but there is a market for it.

aside from frame bags, so far the popular touring gear have been disappointing to own and use, particularly seat packs and bar rolls.... tail fin is on great path here. Zippers under tension are a proven losing idea, however.

I thought that may be a weak point, but Tailfin do give a 5 year warranty

We really tore our hair out over whether to add that zipper on it! In the end we kept it on for the folks that use it for non-puffy things. i.e. clothes. I agree that pulling a puffy sleeping back out through that zip wouldn't be the best idea.

Seems a bit redundant to me, maybe for those that have some ocd in packing?

I gotta vent here: The whole tailfin ecosystem is an insanely bad value proposition. So many reviewers treat it like some revolutionary idea when to me it looks like a more expensive, less useful solution to a problem that regular racks solved long long ago. Why would you wanna spend double the price to be locked into a specific brand for your racks+bags????

I bought an Aeropack as it was the only solution I could find to work on a full suspension MTB. As I am a short rider and rely heavily on my dropper post a seat pack was not an option.
