Man this game looks so cool! I've been needing a new game like this. Something with the elderscrolls vibe but with a weird world that's interesting to explore.
...and methinks the moonshine along with the sage he picked up for cooking would combine to make a healing potion per the 'pettiness' he ignored at 11:04, ha. Sorry Splat, I had to say it.
If they ad limb crippling and limb dismemberment a la Fallout (not just decapitations a la Skyrim) it would be badass. Maybe have them waddle around a bit like ghouls do in Fallout 4 or like clutch a severed hand/arm/foot/leg it would be pretty clutch, however that may push the rating higher than they want up the spectrum.
You had me at Bethesda inspired first person open world rpg. There really isn’t enough of these types of games. Haters keep getting butthurt your opinions about it don’t change the facts sorry y’all.
I'm with you 100% on the garlic. Recipe: 1-2 cloves of garlic Me: Those are rookie numbers *Shucks the whole bulb and puts it in* Still, I'm not up to my grandpa's level of garlic intake. He would drink a glass of chopped garlic and warm milk every night before bed; can't argue with results though, he was strong as an ox even in his old age.
@@CoruscationsOfIneptitude It wasn't warm long enough to spoil; he would just heat the milk he was to drink up in a saucepan. Otherwise it was ordinary homogenized milk.
Did you just start singing modern major general from Pirates of Penzance. I just got flooded with memories from that musical. I was in it in HS years ago. You sir are a true Renaissance man.
I'm not much into card games but the Tainted Grail game is awesome. That sounds like Amelia Tyler as the opening narrator to this game. She's a fantastic voice actress.
They are on to something with this game, especially when we haven't had a Skyrim like game in a minute, people will definitely be slobbering for another open world medieval fantasy game.
A classic. Splat literally reads the game's hint on alchemy aloud, then a minute later gets to the alchemy station and has no idea what ingredients go together to make a potion.
Liking the grimdark Arthurian legend style, seen a few games recently on that genre and all have been pretty good. This one has some great environments and sounds, will keep an eye on this on release.
Great Va work, great atmosphere...loving the music...Tuvan throat singing is great..love the grittiness of arthurian legend mixed with well whatever it is that will be in this game.
Tainted Grail the board game has their pledge manager opening up very soon for the Kings of Ruin, which has a reworked version of Fall of Avalon if anyone is interested.
Haven't looked at the subtitles and just listened to the intro cinematic and I was like: WHAT? Weirdness?... **checking subtitles**... oooh... Wyrdness.
I am so glad this popped up in my feed. I have been debating on this one to add to our channel. And it is definitely one I will be playing. I love your gaming mindset you talk about in the beginning. My husband just shakes his head at me as I have to explore every nook and cranny in a game. And grab as much loot as possible. Can't help it as I am a curious hoarder in games. I credit the first Zelda games, dragon age and Skyrim for that. 😊 Folks get bored they can zip to the exciting parts. I know there are other curious hoarder gamers out there. Definitely going on the steam wish list. Looking forward to checking out the rest of your channel for other games that I must have. Thanks for sharing with us! 😁😁😁
This is the opening to dark souls 1. Like...100% Only this is King Arthur instead of Lord Gywnn, the red death instead of the darkness that Gywnn banishes with the age of fire. Waking up in a cell, only to be saved by a random friend. Lots of people are "infected" by the plague like the hollows from dark souls. LOT of similarities. Even the intro narration sounds very, very similar.
Just a couple of days I found a video pointing out how there's no direct competitor to the Elder Scrolls series. This one looks like it scratches the same itch and has great potential. Thanks Splat, will be following the game closely and hope that it turns out great!
Groats are English money or (from wikipedia) Groats are the hulled kernels of various cereal grains, such as oat, wheat, rye, and barley. Groats are whole grains that include the cereal germ and fiber-rich bran portion of the grain, as well as the endosperm. Groats can also be produced from pseudocereal seeds such as buckwheat.
Coming from the boardgames so very interested to see what this is like! Those are awesome for anyone interested, also just love awaken realms as a board game publisher in general
Ok, I am digging the grimdark Elderscrolls vibes. I always want to go back and play Skyrim but I can never get myself into it, maybe another take on the formula will do that
Brooo, I have not been this hyped for a new Action/Adventure RPG since Oblivion. This has my jam. Avalon and King Arthur lore and it's finally not another roguelike (TOO MANY OF THEM) that and strategy RPG's. A nice solid, open worldish, rpg game with some actual rpg mechanics. Yes, I wishlisted this almost immediately after the jail segment.
I'm willing t bet that minty fresh fragment of soul is a piece of King Arthur's soul, which probably when enough fragments are collected will allow the player character to wield Excalibur.
I really liked conquest. This game is completely different gameplay wise, but it's been awhile since I've played something like it. Certainly intriguing.
Splat you can always come to my house for breakfast, lunch, and dinner because I am putting twice as much garlic and three times as much onion as any reasonable recipe could ever call for.
This is an ambitious game. Nothing ever got easier after someone said " this card-based tactical game isn't working, let's develop it as an open-world first-person RPG with all the bells and whistles instead." I hope they succeed.
Cooking at my house is like "get the garlic and onions started, then decide what to put in them" Anyway, I looked on Steam and found "Tainted Grail: Conquest" -- which describes itself as a "deck-building roguelike"... and we're already off to a bad start. Maybe that's just a side game. Don't mind me, I'm just one of those tedious people who is a snob about what "roguelike" means. And "deck-building" ain't it. Still, Fall of Avalon showed up too after a bit more searching, and I've wishlisted it. This looks good so far.
This is all based on the Tainted Grail boardgame, which they just did a campaign for basically a 2.0 version of. The board game is a huge exploration puzzle and can be really punishing. This may be the first of this genre I play since skyrim.
I have been waiting ages for anyone to even attempt a elder scrolls clone in any shape or form. Please, please, please continue working on it. No need for gigantic maps or complicated systems. Just get the fundamentals correct and grow from there. I am so excited! Edit: Looks more Dark Messiah than TES, but hat isn't bad either. More of either of them is good.
14:12 I have been known to use that tactic 😁 I was roped into playing Valheim by my nephew and nieces (seriously, they pooled their allowance money to buy it for me for Christmas, so what was I going to do, NOT play???). Recently I have made myself an aetgir (a variety of halberd, if you don't know). It has decent range and stabs heftily (plus the secondary attack is my fav). As soon as I saw the primary stabbing attack, I said to my brother and my nephew (with whom I was playing at the time), "Next time we fight a troll, I'm stabbing it right in the butt." My nephew was full of questions, so I explained that the preferable location from which to attack a troll in general is from a place it can't see you (ie; behind it), and given the relative size of trolls, the attack would inevitably be at the approximate height of troll buttocks. But that's mostly how I justified it so that it would make sense to him. Really, I wanted to stab a troll in the butt because they are a pain in the butt. I'm a simple woman who makes bad jokes.
Despite not really being my type of game/theme I can't deny this game shows very impressive quality. I agree though that they need to add more weight to the impacts, but other than that the visual and audio quality are definitely present.
Wasn't expecting this, honestly. I thought it'd be more like the boardgame. It's funny because the Tainted Grail boardgame always seemed like they were trying to do Skyrim as a boardgame, and now the videogame version just looks like Skyrim.
The open area of this looks a lot like the open area of Dark Souls. Clearly taken inspiration from Dark Souls and even more so Skyrim (or Elder Scrolls in general).
Some people like to read lore, some people don't. People who don't miss that the beration of Brother Sefton included the fact that healing potions are Sage + Strong Liquor (like one presumes all the moonshine we left behind).
I have just one question: why not make a full game so they could sell it? If that's a mod - Bethesda could just take it without even mentioned it! They did that with Fallout 3 mod...
Ended up backing the board game on kickstarter that gave all backers the steam key for both games for free. Been really wanting for this one to come out!
