Taiping caught our attention on a map. After looking into Taiping and discovering how historically significant it was, we were really surprised we hadn't heard of it. Why isn't it on tourist lists for visiting, and SHOULD it be? We stayed there to find out. Join us as we explore the Malaysian city that's home to many of Malaysia's "firsts"!

Great video. There are more things to see and experience in Taiping that shouldn't be missed. • Kampung Dew Firelies • Heritage trail • Charcoal factory • Kuala Sepetang river cruise • Hike up to Maxwell Hill • Mushroom processing factory • Bertam craft making • Batik making • Visit tradisional house (118 yrs) • Marshall art (silat) performance • Traditional delicacies making • Jungle trekking • River and cave trekking • Visit local fruits farm • Sunset spot / watching • Hornbills trekking • Zoo educational and conservation program and many more. All these are within reach if you would like to explore.

So nice to see you guys bring along to all the oldest places which I never noticed or knew. Thank you so much guys 😊. A bird 🦅 poop on your hair… it’s sign of good luck. Actually Taiping would be first for English based civilization.😊 For oldest places in Malaysia, that would be Bujang Valley in Kedah state. Civilization started there from 788 BC and said to have the oldest iron ore smelting site in Southeast Asia, catering to trade between India, the Arab world and China. Peace 🙏

Glad you 'discovered' Taiping. More visitors should, but I like stepping off the tourist trail. As you say, one rarely encounters other western travelers while in town. I splurge on accommodation when visiting, but in fact the Novotel is only slightly more than US $30 per night for a near 5-star experience. And the hawker center you visited--Larut Matang, I believe--is my favorite in all of Malaysia. Can't wait for August!

Kuey teow is made from rice flour. Wan Tan noodles which is the dried one in black sauce U ate is egg noodles. In Hong Kong is popular served in soup. Very rare to find dried ones. Fried kuey teow is very popular in Penang. On noodles there's also rice vermicelli basically rice noodles then there's yellow noodles and pan mee , wheat flour noodles. They sell those empty bags at Asian markets. You fill the bag with loose tea or coffee and drop it in a cup or pot to make hour own coffee. Beats hotel coffee. Or you can buy 2 in 1 (cream and coffee) or 3 in 1 (sugar, cream, coffee) sachets. They are pretty good too and better than hotel room coffee. Moon ages come out in the fall for the festival. I like the one withbthe lotus paste, comes with egg yolks in it too (not a fan of the yolk). We are heading to Malaysia next month. I thought we'd been everywhere, but never had desire to visit Taiping. Maybe this time? Bird poop happens. Me, Redondo Beach by a seagull. Right shoulder.

Then been to Australia, UK especially around London, Cambridge then to Scotland, to the Netherlands Denmark Sweden Germany and all the ASEAN neighbouring countries especially our close neighbour Thailand, Japan Korea Sri Lanka and India. End of 2023 been to Sabah and Sarawak..revisit again!! Well there are so many interesting places to see..if you can afford it..money n time I mean. You can find those "instant" coffee bags in supermarkets everywhere. Guess it is a thing in Singapore and Malaysia LOL. Doubt they use butter to roast though. Most of them use margarine. Most famous fried kway teow is the Penang version. Kway teow soup from Ipoh is very popular cos of their "spring water" said to use to make their kway teow and grow their bean sprouts. That dark soy based noodle is called dry wanton mee with char siew. Char siew has some sweetness from molasses/honey/sugar perhaps all depends on how the vendor makes it😂Is boiled egg wanton noodles not pan fried. Singapore has a Sun Yat Sen memorial hall. He is very popular in this part of the world.

The Mid-Autumn Festival, also known as the Moon Festival or Mooncake Festival, is a harvest festival celebrated in Chinese culture. It is held on the 15th day of the 8th month of the Chinese lunisolar calendar with a full moon at night, corresponding to mid-September to early October of the Gregorian calendar.[1] On this day, the Chinese believe that the moon is at its brightest and fullest size, coinciding with harvest time in the middle of autumn.[2] The Mid-Autumn Festival is one of the most important holidays in Chinese culture; its popularity is on par with that of Chinese New Year. The history of the festival dates back over 3,000 years.[3][4] Similar festivals are celebrated by other cultures in East and Southeast Asia. During the festival, lanterns of all size and shapes - which symbolize beacons that light people's path to prosperity and good fortune - are carried and displayed. Mooncakes, a rich pastry typically filled with sweet-bean, egg yolk, meat or lotus-seed paste, are traditionally eaten during this festival.[5][6][7] The Mid-Autumn Festival is based on the legend of Chang'e, the Moon goddess in Chinese mythology.

You may have gotten some of your facts incorrectly. Sun Yat-sen is actually a revolutionist against Qing Dynasty, the Imperialism. He may have visited Taiwan but he surely stayed on and passed away in Beijing in 1925 long before China embraced Communism after Democracy failed to work there.

Great place where i belong but most of those needed places to be preserved are ignored, damaged , altered the origin. Like Railway station becomes food centres, century old rest house opposite primary king Edward school and hope the market opened after rebuild as original let the market operated as it is and hope not becoming like central market in KL becomes gift stalls etc. And there are many more....

Taiping and Kuala Kangsar are both being "abandoned" by the politicians, they love Ipoh because they got more money from Ipoh businessmen. That's the big answer of the "why" question.
