I think the difference between the soldiers of both countries is that the US military personnels are recruited with volunteerism, therefore those who make it through intensive training become the best they can. Not sure how PLA build their military personnels but I can surmise it’s not by volunteerism. Wanting to know…

No they did not failed. As far as i know, Russia is in sanction and it will collapse in the long run. 2nd, finland and sweden is now a NATO member. Much closer to Russia. US doesn’t seem to have a good memory. The lesson of Korean War and Vietnam War seemed to be forgotten. Don’t think China want to initiate a war. However, the war over Taiwan should it broken, it won’t fought only on Taiwan soil. The war will inevitably be fought on soil of all parties’ involved, including US. China is not going to fight a proxy war and sacrify only people across the Taiwan strait. It will fight against its true enemies, those in frontline and those hiden behind. Don’t think so? Wish US a big luck and let’s watch. No one will come out clean from that war. There will be no winner of that war.

The US military, even the carrier strike groups, will stay away or retreat to the 2nd Island Chain, to avoid PLA, if the risk level is high or uncertain.

For China sovereignty of these islands is not the core issue. US sacrificed 10,000 islanders of a Pacific Island for nuclear experiment on humans because of possible nuclear war against USSR.
