Wow. The incredible Taj Mahal in Agra. It's one of the most beautiful UNESCO world heritage sites. I was speechless when I stood in front of the Taj Mahal back in 2009.
6:14. The door was opened so I guess it's the main entrance. You probably didn't notice it, but the arch is flanked with Surah Al Yasin (Full 86 verses of Chapter 36 of Al Quran, the holy book of Islam, Al Yasin is considered the heart of Al Quran for the Muslim). 😀
The Arabic calligraphy of Surah Al Yasin was made using the Pietra Dura craftsmanship, embedding the semi precious black stars of India onto the white marble. The black, white and purple stars of India semi precious stones were believed to repel the evil. Some work of Pietra Dura also used beautiful colorful precious stones in the interior and exterior of the mausoleum. The actual tomb are hidden on the ground floor. The tombstone inside Taj Mahal sits above ground on a podium. 😀
I certainly noticed it and wondered, but unfortunately cannot read it. Thanks for the info! I'll look into a translation of it now because I'm intruiged!
@@onceuponaglobe According to my tour guide, many years ago, Taj Mahal was opened to public during night time, the precious stones in the interior shines beautifully. However, after cases of theft, some of the precious stones were stolen and now Taj Mahal is only open to the public during day time. My tour guide also asked me to Azan, Muslim prayer call, inside the mausoleum, and my voice echoed inside the building. He also showed us a place in front of the garden, asked me to lift my hand and pinched, and the photo looked like I'm holding the Taj Mahal in my hand, hehe. 😀
