A big part of Inner Clock 2 deals with understanding Rhythm. Slowly getting into how its works. And how you can make it work for you. What you can do with it in music and especially in your vocabulary and time!
An understanding of rhythmic cycles is essential for all drummers. Rhythm is our home!! Where we live and breath! And without a chance to play with music designed to promote that understanding things can be very difficult.
In IC2 there are 3 main tunes in a series of tunes, that deal with the most popular cycle in western drumming. This is the 3 bar cycle.
"Paradigm Prism" is from the 3 bar cycle studies section of "Inner Clock 2"
It deals with the cycle in different ways.
A) In a Groove setting
B) In Different musical structures - 4 bars and 8 bars
C) In a solo setting
D) Comping for a soloist.
E) Section figures
F) Ensemble figures
G) Permutations and variations of the 3 bar cycle
H) Augmentation
I) Diminution
This is the most complex of the 3 tunes and a lot of fun to play along to!!!
