Honestly except for the front straight which has been moved out of the drag Lane, the cool part of the track is how it hasn't changed. They've just added onto it keeping the original

Don't fix something that isn't broken. Watkins Glen has routinely delivered the best races of the decade. Changing the layout may jeopardize that.

Speed04GT IMO the boot is the worse version of the two layouts. It’s more difficult with that section but it doesn’t produce all to good of races. I also full on despise the second corner of the boot in iRacing lmao.

Hahahhahahahhblolololol. No, and the reason why is that boot has a very narrow slow uneven exit. If there was ever a wreak their people are getting hurt. Now for poops and giggles we could not run the bus stop as a one off like back before jd mcduffie died but thats really unlikely cause the whole point of the bus stop was to prevent incidents like jds

I’ve always enjoyed watching the driver cam of Rusty Wallace, Especially on the road courses. He’d always be flickn them wrists when he would shift & dance with the car.

Track looked so much more amazing back in the 90's. Even now with running this configuration it's a dull and boring track to look at.

@@Trevor42721 Between that and reconfiguration of hill seating and adding some extra track configuration caused the hills and landscape to either be flatter or farther from the track. Back then it felt nestled in the hills and now it's more like flat lands.

I honestly prefer the 70s-80s cars wayyyyy more over the new shell cars we have now. I miss back when u could build a car in ur own garage and race on Daytona instead of big corporate factories building them

Agreed. Ricky Rudd was asked a couple years ago if he’d like to drive these new cars. He said no because they look way too stiff and stuck in the track. He prefers the era cars you’re talking about where it almost feels like the car is floating or riding on top of the track. The way these guys in the video are sawing on that wheel is pure talent. Love it so much!

I went to the first NASCAR race at Sonoma. The cars were not advanced enough to handle it, it was pretty comical actually. Those first few races were painful, and there were no fans. At least now they will have the suspension and aero to make it fun. The track is a hundred percent better now with the stadium seating and the tunnel. Before if you weren't in the grandstand which was at the pits you had to sit in the weeds, it wasn't "grass" not a tree in sight.....

If NASCAR wants to bring back the carousel at Sonoma, implement the boot at Watkins Glen and/or make a Pocono road course race. Theyre doing a doubleheader anyway next year...race 1 should be the triangle, race 2 is the RC. As a lifelong NASCAR fan, it is starting to get boring. Lets change it up a bit
