Frieren, a story about the beauty found in impermanence and growth from bonds, tells a story about the beautiful impermanence of Sein’s time with the party and his growth from the bonds he developed. Like yeah if anything it IS real life because it’s real as fuck
People seem to forget that Stark's strength is SCARILY STRONG, that even Eisen was forced to put his all just to pit against Stark's monstrous strength (this was discussed by Eisen with Frieren during Stark's intro in earlier episodes). Imagine when you're young and your older sibling is playing with you. Tackling, pushing, it's all fun and games. But when you accidentally hit your older sibling and their reactive strength is unchecked, you realize how small, weak, puny, and vulnerable you are, and that is SCARY. So I concur, that Fern's concern was valid.
Well I don't know about "forced to put his all" because Eisen was a monster himself (which you learn later on how strong he actually was) but indeed Stark managed to put fear in his heart and Eisen reacted out of instinct. Stark in a warrior on a path to becomes as strong as Eisen or even maybe stronger than him, but he's not there yet
IMO, from a narrative standpoint Sein had to leave. For all the trash they talk about him being even worse of a corrupt priest than Heiter just because he likes to smoke and drink and chase women, my man was way too mature and sensible for this party of children. If he'd stayed, he'd have Fern and Stark happily married and Frieren fully grasping what it means to be human within a couple of years just by giving them solid advice.
From a narrative standpoint, Sein had to leave as the series pivots to battle shonen exam ala the hunter or chunin exams. He's a character mostly pointless in such a genre.
@@PepsiMan666 i mean not really, he was shown to be able to fight at least decently, and stark isnt really taking part oin the exam either, so i dont see the problem.
@@KaizelotHey, smart guy. I was poking fun at Sein's role in their party as the mediator. It's amazing that you missed that and that you commented to tell me my opinion is wrong as if you wrote the manga or the show and you know for a fact that you're right instead of sharing your own opinion. Lol indeed.
I think it's just u relate to his scummy side and have a intolerance for children like most privileged people do. I see no reason for y he would want out of the group dynamic if not for his personal quest
15:23 If anyone else is wondering why they didn't fly all the way, it's essentially for two reasons: 1st in episode 11 Frieren says he couldn't use flight magic or make Stark float (who had passed out) because the wind was too strong. 2nd in episode 13, after Star was poisoned, they decide to fly back to Sein's village because they said they couldn't do that for an extended period of time. In short, flight magic is very useful, but it won't always be possible to use it.
Also, I don,t think we have ever seen a mage fly AND make something else fly at the same time. I recall Frieren explaining that because it is a repurposed demon spell, maybe they don't know how to cast multiple instances at the same time?
Fern and Stark are two teenagers with very few social skills (like most teenagers), so I understand the way they react, especially Fern. She may seem stubborn (she is a little, I have to be fair) but it's good to remember that it is with Stark that she is gaining experience on how to act with a boy and even worse with a boy she likes.
Something that everyone missed, I think, is the scene where Stark is milking the cow. I think they deliberately showed us that to contrast with what Happened with Fern, earlier this episode, when he didn't control his strength and scared her. They're showing us that Stark is capable of being gentle and control his strength, to the point where he can milk a cow, without scaring it or hurting it, at all. The show also dropped similar hints, before. For example, when Stark learned etiquette and danced with Fern, he was gentle with her. So, basically, for how strong Stark is, the show is telling us that he has full control of his body's strength, and I think that this " control " aspect might come up later, somehow... like how Fern and Frieren can control their mana, Stark can control his strength. ... or I might be overthinking this. I have OCD, afterall. xD
Omg YES. Absolutely this. It feels more valid too because the show could have had Stark help out any other activity but they CHOSE to show him gently milking a cow and emphasizing how good he was at it. God I love the story telling of this show.
actually i already known stark capable control his strength as long as within his concious. my guess stark did it on spurt moment on Fern, not knowing that fern was defendless and caught on surprise. not to mention both Fern and Frieren without magic they are normal girl.
Sein leaving when I read it in the manga was shocking but I actually liked it. I could name off a few reasons but I think it fits with this series. It sucks seeing him gone but his character was definitely super important for the entire group and to be able to do that kind of thing in a story in such short time without it being overwhelming it really is cool to see.
13:45 People don't recognize frieren because it's been almost a CENTURY since they defeated the demon king, basically no human who was alive back then still lives today, you can mention the statues but it's been established in the series that people can see Frieren in front of her own statue side by side and people will still have trouble putting 2 and 2 together lol. Also another fact: himmel, apart from being the leader of the party (which draws the attention of what was accomplished to him naturally) was also a hero who would often visited a lot of cities to help people even after the defeat of the demon king, frieren on the other hand used to live more low-key and likes to keep herself out of the spot light.
No one recognizes her because it's been 30 years since Himmel died and 80 yeats since they defeated the Demon king, in a world where photos exist are super rare. Plus, Frieren is not the type of person who wants the spotlight. She's happy living in obscurity studying weird magic
We've only seen Fern and Sein who have a photo in their pendant. I don't see any old people with a photo like that, maybe the magic of "photography" was just recently invented in the era after Himmel's death.
Basically anyone who wasn't a kid/teenager at the end of the demon king's reign is dead at this point and that lady I would put as maybe in her 50s at most.
Sein's departure is certain, he has missed 10 years, he needs to catch up with Gorilla - his best friend who invited him to fulfill his dream of becoming an adventurer. He couldn't hesitate and then miss it again. I sympathize with him, I have a feeling that he will definitely return in the future. I don't want to spoil the manga for you but it will answer you about why they always say goodbye so quickly. 🤫
I assure you, I would love a spell that gets rid of mold. That stuff's a pain in the posterior to deal with properly. Particularly if it gets into the gyprock or behind the caulking.
I totally resonate with your Frieren reactions. I love seeing somebody with that level of emotional intelligence plus getting so emotionally attached to something I hold so dear to me as this anime. I'm so glad I found your content :)
I don't know about tylenol, advil, or ibuprofen, but at the very least they should know about willow bark tea, on which aspirin is based (in _our_ world we've known about it for at least 2,400 years)...
Himmel fr loved that elf girl so damn much. Even the voice actors have stated that their relationship is one of the most healthiest depictions of romance that they've ever seen in anything and I just totally agree with it. I love seeing your reactions to Himmel/Frieren moments, like the big one in this episode, because you hit the nail on the head. Every. Time. And it's straight up vindication for how I feel about it, too. You're so freakin' psychic. 😆 Himmel x Frieren forever. ❤
I love your emotional reactions, I hardly cry but it feels good to have someone tears up a little for the same thing, and this show is damn good at making moments like that
Well moral of the anime and manga so far = trust Frieren's guts. I dun wanna spoil it but Frieren give a strong hint that she expected Sein to return to them in future.
