I binged your videos yesterday and realized I've been a fan for two years. Thank you for giving me a piece of my sanity back during this whole pandemic. Watching your videos has been a form of therapy. You're awesome and RU-vid don't deserve you.
Totally agree that I don't want gunpla to go mainstream in the west. A lot of people don't understand why I say that. I also agree with your take on metal build. The price isn't justified considering the quality.
Yeah, but they usually modify the designs a bit for the MB versions. MB Destiny design in MB is way way cooler in the standard Bandai. Can't afford it, so I went with the DraMok (which copies MB). Even MB Red Dragon looks much sicker than the standard MG version.
@@Gunpla-Slinger indeed, I'm just buying all the kits I can at the moment when I see em in stock cause I know damn well I'm probably not gonna get em again
@@raymondleung25 true. like if there's a PG Zaku II F2 Type i'd swoop it up. moreso if it were in the best colors, which we all know is tan. or, admitedly, i'd go for a perfect grade Zaku III
Gunpla channels would do better if they realized how great the RG line is and actually delved into the progression of it from the hand grenade RG #01 to when things really started kicking off with the Tallgeese. No, it's not great for painters since the tolerances are all so tight, but it's very interesting gunpla talk in general and everyone seems to have missed the opportunity.
@@wakaneut It's all interesting, because even the first RG is impressive in a lot of ways, but they went overboard on the color separation and didn't quite nail the tolerances. The MS Joint System is a brilliant idea and they've managed to improve their pre-molded joints to an impressive degree, it's just a shame that the older ones don't hold up. Every kit has something interesting to offer. The best one are, as you said, the newest ones and I disagree with you, the peak model was the Force Impulse Gundam in terms of tolerances and design. A Gundam that I thoroughly loathe by the way, but the kit itself is pretty much perfect.
@@wakaneut Do you happen to have the Zephyrantes or Full Burnern models? It's a good comparison for a core system done wrong and how right the Force Impulse gets it. I'm amazed that it's so solid. I love my Full Burnern, but man, I don't really want to touch it :D
@@Smilomaniac I have the Zephyranthes and the Force Impulse and I agree with you about the core system. My GP-01 is constantly doubling over or splitting in half due to the core unit, and because the core isn’t solid, the arms and legs are struggling too. The Force Impulse on the other hand, is rock solid and looks freakin phenomenal.
I know you want a Mgex kshatryia, but, what would they make the “extreme point”? That’s the issue with the Mgex line: the gundam needs something unique, like a psycho-glowing system or a golden inner frame. Most gundam don’t have something like that.
Not arguing for the MGEX line itself, but there is a version of the psycho frame on the inside of the Kshatryia that they could go with, I guess? I think he was arguing for the MGEX as it means that we at least get a MG of the kit. I’m down for just having the MG as long as it wasn’t a RE/100
I would say the extreme point would be the overall size and the inner frame needed to support the wing binders, the detail on the Kshatryia would be PG level in an MG size.
I think it's great that MGEX ZGMF-X20A Strike Freedom Gundam is coming. But at the same time, I wonder about that price and I also wonder if we're going to get a normal MG 2.0 version later. In addition to that, I wonder what'll happen with the ZGMF-X19A ∞ Justice Gundam and ZGMF-X42S Destiny Gundam; both of which are probably due for an updated release; meaning either MGEX or MG 2.0.
I was worried about( and still kinda am) the price if it's the same as the unicorn. But something that gives me a little hope is that just not all model kits in the same grade are the same price. I'll wait to see what else comes with the kit before starting to fear the price tag.
The reason people like 1/144 is because they’re cheaper , have much more variety than 1/100, they’re smaller so you can have more of them and in my opinion it’s more impressive to see a highly customized 1/144 than a highly customized 1/100
I prefer 1/144 because I'm not that privileged to own huge display to showcase and store them. RG 1/144 perfectly fit my storage capability while also being complex enough to entertain me.
Another reason could be I know there was a game that is like Warhammer 40k called Gundam Skirmish I think and it recommends 1/144 for the units. Not 100% sure if the game is still active, it was a couple of years ago when I played and did anything with it.
Having over 30 kits on display (been collecting since 2000), all of them 1/100 until last year when i started collected 1/144. Space is a huge factor. 1/144 surprisingly they save space.
Since the Zeta Gundam Ka Signature exists I still want a MG Zeta Ver.Ka. I know everyone SEEMS happy with the MG Zeta 2.0 but I want an update to that older kit with contemporary tech. Cause let's be serious here. That kit does need an update. It has been long enough.
Agreed, I have the red viper version and while it's cool it has a lot of issues, ugly undersides and flimsy parts that are flimsy for no reason, and it can't stand up, lol.
Metal Builds are very cool, my friend has the Metal Build Strike Freedom and it's beautiful. But I still prefer building the inner frame myself. And I still haven't seen the MGEX Unicorn from any store near me, even online.
I was same as ItsA, literally a few seconds after the drop, tried to add it... Got error, then sold out message. On a prior drop, the PG Perfectibility was like that... Glad they did a couple more drops, I managed to snag one they put back on the day after the drop. Checking other P Bandai markets, seems whatever the hot kit is for that area is gone in seconds after drop. But not every kit is the hot kit in that market... Except for the damn Efreets. WTF
We need another video like this regarding PBandai. Same shit just happened with several items. Sold out as soon as they went live. I’m all about getting a bunch of people together and push complaints through the contact us line. No matter how much we complain on social media nothing happens.
I feel like it's less a popularity problem as much as it's a P-Bandai business model problem. Last year or so we didn't even have access to P-Bandai in the west, so we're in the right direction. But they really need to move to a build to order model instead of the pure limited run model. That would cut the artificial scarcity and scalping down and give everyone a chance... but, you know. PrEmIuM.
I’m also surprised Bandai hasn’t done anything with the inner from the MG Barbatos yet, when they’ve already done two OO MGs after the Dynames using its Frame.
I wish bandai wouldn't make so many newly tooled kits limited releases, the MK V, Woundwort, F90, and now the Phantom Gundam. I remember when p bandai was just for recolors, but now they're more interested in making the recolors retail (breaker battlogue, as cool as those kits still are).
Those kits you mentioned are exclusive from manga I believe. The only new mold P-Bandai kits I can think of are exclusive manga MS which probably have low popularity in comparison and/or licensing rights with the publisher. The Gundam Breaker Battlogue recolors are only retail in the US and are still P-Bandai as usual.
I feel the same way about that NU gundam lol. They literally added that giant rail cannon for stability to keep that statue upright and not back heavy. That being said I would love to have a MG Kysantria as well.
The last, and first, P. Bandai I bought was an HGUC Pale Rider Cavalry. I've got it posed in the left handed Chad pose, because fuck huge BFG. I've kind of gravitated back toward 30 Minute Missions, because someone on RU-vid is trying to turn it into a TTRPG and I'm kind of looking forward to making my own combatants from a mixed bag of parts.
While some of the molded metallic plastics are still up in the air I terms of quality, I am happy we are finally getting an essentially a strike freedom 2.0 kit. I have been wanting a new mg strike freedom that has a little more pop or flair with it's design so I am looking forward to this kit a lot.
I just finished stripping the chrome plating off my HG Delta Gundam to repaint... A MG Delta Gundam using this new gold technology would be fine with me if they wanted to forego another Hyaku Shiki...
If you had a chance to build any kits that's gold plated like the Phenex or Akatsuki, you leave a lot of fingerprints or residue on its surface. Hopefully it's going to be undergated as Bandai doesn't seem to want to fix this problem on the MG/RG/HG metal plated kits. IMO, i'm very happy with my MetalBuild gunpla knockOff for the Strike Freedom by Dragon Momoko/MJH. It's not for beginners but the metal inner frame does its job well plus it has lots of Beam FX compared to Bandai's MG Full Burst Mode version of the SF. Anyway the SF design could still be improved with the MGEX like finally integrating the Freedom's Plasma Beam Cannon into the wings of the Strike Freedom as seen in some DeviantArt. There's even a papercraft upgrade for it too. As for the RG Nu Gundam, there's a video of it being as a booster/backpack weapon. So it kinda defeats the purpose of being the Nu Gundam with the Funnels as the video only shows it doesn't carry the rest of them. Maybe Bandai should had redesignated the kit as the RX-94 Mass Production MS instead of the RX-93 custom kit.
I have the 1/100 Efreet Nacht conversion kit. It's a nicely detailed kit and looks a lot better than the conversion for the MG Zaku. I really need to sit down and build it. Good luck finding currently without spending a arm and a leg. I need to pick up the Dom 1.5 to use for my MG Dom Trophen conversion kit.
My kids are finally old enough for the GFrame series, so I get them into series 13 and 14, and so now they're cancelling them. Thanks Bandai! Not that it matters. Just wanted to complain somewhere.
The sad reasoning behind why they don't create new ones is because of the cost involved with making new molds. Or designing new frames and thus new technology. It might take alot of R&D. so they opt to make variants. Think what's happened with the latest 00s. The frames are very similar just gotta tweak it a bit and you for the next one. And 1/144 will be king because it test out the latest technologies in a smaller form and is the best price point for their core demographic.
I cant believe scalpers have gotten this bad. Last time I bought off PBandai was last year, and it wasn't a problem yet. Why do these people have to ruin everything?
Definitely gonna give the MGEX Strike Freedom a hard pass, I already got the Fortune Meow resin dress up kit deluxe version and water slide decals. What bothers me about the MGEX line is how Bandai is basically saying if you want a MG 2.0 kit you now have to pay $200, Bandai is never going to put out a MG Kshatriya because it would be roughly the size of a PG kit, plus it seems like Bandai is infusing more and more aspects of the MG and PG line into the RG line and in Asia1/144 gunpla kits out sells the 1/100 and 1/60. Another factor to consider is that the price for plastic has gone up so it now costs more for Bandai to make new kits, so from a business standpoint it makes more sense to make a 1/144 kit vs a 1/100 or 1/60 kit.
I'm sure it's very impressive as a tech demo but that gold-on-gold-on-gold paint scheme is just tacky. It's the kind of thing an oil sheikh would put on his Gundam.
yo dude. you gotta try the Daban brand MG Jagd Doga . i already got the blue version and its great! and now they're releasing the red version hoping they would also do the sleeves version XD
Are you missing any Endless Waltz Gundam Models? I'm looking for stuff to send to your P.O. Box. Also, no idea which Grade you prefer, new to buying Gunpla.
I totally agree about the khasatrya. I don't understand why we have never had an mg. How about Gera Zulu, Galus k/j? Where's the mg Penelope and Xi, Messer, and Gustav Karl? I wish they'd do the bogo, and prototype units from the origin too. On another note, I read that they changed the fin funnels on the Nu gundam statue because, they couldn't get it to stand up with out a prop. On another note, supposedly they're making a metaverse.
No geara Zulu always struck me odd, they did the jestas and rezels in mg but not a single unicorn zeon grunt. And they have most of the frame from the Doga to reuse, too.
I think Bandai is making the 1/100 line more of selective of MS than just mass producing them before since the plastic and size of it are big and requires more runners than a 1/144 kit does. Also, since both Gundam factories are working 24/7 for demand on some 1/144 kits from variety of series that hasnt gotten rerelease and for MG is just slowly rereleasing some
Seed and 00 both get about the same love for MG, almost every protagonist suit and variant are out there by now. I do really want some IBO MGs; Bael, Astaroth Origin, and Vidar, hopefully
Don't forget the HGAC Heavyarms Kai that for some reason I can't understand is not being offered on the US store even though Wing is incredibly popular in the west.
I couldn't tell you what goes on in bandai's head. MG Kshatriya would be a slam dunk. But for the most part they've been sticking to "low hanging fruit"
I think they just have problems handling those 4 shields in 1/100 with the current plastics without strech marks or breaking in a year or two. I'm sure they need to actually include metal parts for the parts that hold those shields in 1/100
@@wakaneut I used to know someone who worked for Bluefin and he was friends with several employees at Bandai. According to him those are the exact reason why they have release one. It would require metal parts to help with the weight issue and they were worried about the joints being able to hold the weight without falling over.
@Itsagunpla Hey Gundam, I have an extra HG Efreet Nacht if you’re interested? Before P bandai was available I had a middle man in Japan and he sent me the Nacht by accident instead of the mass production when it came out. He gave me a 30% discount since it was too much to send back to Japan. I don’t know if anyone else has offered so I figured asking you first before sending it to you and somebody does the same.
i want to see this frame plastic used on The O. as for p bandai. it annoys me first p bandai singapore has way more stuff than the USA store.. that and everything you say about not getting to order anything from them is as hard as you say, i was shocked i was able to order chars rx78 :D what i want next is the 1/100 rick dom
man, im sure gonna build this gunpla,, its my second gunpla ever made back when i still kid, and don't know about gunpla grade so i build non-grade (first one was astray)..and i'm already sick of RG (so damn fragile when posing it)..MG is the way i think
Glad I'm not the only one whose frustrated with P bandai site. And where is that MG love for the neo zeon units. Geara Zulu look awesome, and then the rosen zulu too. All this love for unicorn but still missing some zeon mgs
I agree, i was trying to buy the PG Unicorn Perfectibility and it sold out literally within 2 secs after it dropped i was so devastad that i couldn't buy it, pbandai has a serious bot problem.
gunpla is like the sneaker game...you got to have a guy that gets you what you want...my guy never disappoints me, always gets me the new stuff I want on release I I told him before the drop get yourself a guy^^
I'll never buy pbandai. I live in a third world shthole, so I'm thankful to be able to buy regular gunpla already. And yeah, scalpers are a problem, but even if the hobby goes mainstream or not they will try to resell their sht. The only way to make them pay id not buy from them, but people have more money than brain apparently, and prefer to buy at inflated prices... It's the same thing in the diy pc build comunity.
Look the problem isn't gunpla getting popular problem is not meeting the demand and existence of limited kits in pbandai they haven't found that special club content and just keep taking popular kits that are supposed to be standard
