I rarely ever leave a serious comment on RU-vid videos, but your content is wildly underappreciated. The structured, no nonsense, and disinterested (in a good way) approach you take to these videos is very refreshing. You clearly know your stuff very well, and these demonstrations are streets ahead of reading some stuffy docs. Whenever I'm in a creative rut and stumble upon one of your videos, I always seem to get a very strong sense of newfound inspiration and motivation -- probably just a coincidence, though ;)

Now, see, that's what I call a we'll made tutorial. You show both what we are going to achieve, why it's important, and how we go about doing it. Most tutorials I've seen always show the what they are going to achieve, and how, but never the why,band in a very simple step by step manner. Excellent job 🤟

Emit is like Borderlands Granular on iPad! I wonder if they were inspired by that brilliant classic app? Part of what made Borderlands so special was the ability to load numerous samples in a big X-Y collage and have multiple emitters , sometimes overlapping different samples -- and creating a unique interplay between different sounds that worked well together. I suppose you could get close to the same effect if you added a few different sounds to the same wav file, maybe fading some together.. then toss it in Ableton Emit.
@ELPHNT
@ELPHNT 19 дней назад
That's a cool comparison! I hadn't thought of that. Borderlands was always my favourite app back when I had an iPad. Emit and Vector Grain both give me very similar vibes 👌

These are so phenomenal. Dillon Bastan has always been great, but these look to be leagues ahead of his previous M4L devices. I liked his old stuff in theory more than in practice. I'm amazed at how tight these are and just how many he made. I will admit I was nervous at first about some of the granular effects. I like granular synths, but granular synthesis that is focused on non-midi based loops can be a little tedious to work with, and there are so many approaches to that already. I'm glad that Emit seems to embrace both sides of granular synthesis as an atmospheric and melodic toolset.
