I think people are forgetting soul blade is meant to deal with higher resistance enemies (sages, griffs, etc), while you can just switch to tomes (which she has access to even S) for low resistance enemies (backups, armors, etc)...it's not like she can only run a levins.
@@KjSucksAtGames i mean i guess if you use physical swords? but if you use a levins at capped stats thats 58 atk (40+18) vs sage (43 hp 20 def 44 res 30spd, avg 32) [58-32]x2 = 52 dmg, dead vs mage knight (47 hp 26 def 40 res 32(35) spd, avg 33) [58-33]x2 = 50 dmg, dead vs high priest (55hp 20 def 48 res 32 spd, avg 34) [58-34]x2 = 48 dmg, not dead these calcs are without emblems, inherits, or engravings tho. most cases the low def problem ones will die. physical swords limits her to melee-only, so keeping her on a levins is ideal tbh.
@@Danscrub So the idea is that the Levin Sword will still be doing a lot more damage than a regular spell will against high resistance enemies? It's sort of like how Lindwurm ability lets Ivy beat high resistance mgic users, except it always activates when using swords.
@@Ryodraco Yup, that's the jist of it, a bit less damage but a much better (guarantred) proc rate than ivy. It gives a better counterattacking phase, especially in maddening due to how varied the enemies are, and if you train her she should be able to take down most enemies in the main game.
I decided to play a Hard run just to test the DLC characters capabilty. And you are right, Zelestia is a MONSTER. She literally carried all over the last chapters with a Levin Sword +5 and Speedtaker. I'll definitely add her to my party again in my second Maddening run. Another character that was pretty good for me was Madeline. She has a good personal skill and growths that let her hit like a monster and tank very, VERY good, even for mages, since her resistance is better than other armored options like Louis. (Also she is cute AF) Anyways, nice video! I'm looking forward to see more Engage content in the future
Looking forward to using Madeline but something tells me it'll be hard to beat Goldmary's tanking ability. She takes hardly any damage even on maddening with over 40 def on chapter 18.
@@ogmechsftw Maybe, I didn't have issues with defense. I had with dexterity. The max hit% I got on my Madeline in the first run I used her was around 72%, and that's not reliable. For the next, I had to give her weapon an enchanment (idk how is it called in English, I play in spanish) to increaser her hit. Still, if you can manage to compensate her weakness on Dexterity, she is an amazing unit
@@von_daphnel i gave her divine pulse (the byleth skill that has a 30% chance to activate when a hit misses and +Hit15. On a tomahawk with ThreeHouses Engraving (enchantment in english is engraving) she will have 85-95% chance of hitting on non fast units
I expected Nil to be absolute trash because of the Xenologue but he puts in an incredible amount of work. IMO slap Ike on him with Revanche and he has the potential to be a better Panette, especially with his unique skill that's essentially always a free +10 crit
Nil and Nel are great for gold clearing runs as most of them are filled with heavily armoured units. High Priest Anna finishing off foes is a great pairing due to her passive. Zelestia can also contribute quite a lot so long as you keep her out of bow range. That's my only tip atm.
I have a player phase focused zelestia with weapon syn and alacrity. She's paired with chrom so she can use both swords and get plus 10 damage with Levin sword and magic out of Robin when engage. Really powerful damage.
Zelestia class skill is crazy good it shocked me when it popped up but as for the other units I think nel would benefit from learning few skills from marth
Hector build with Resolve+ and Gentility+, not sure how well it would work during a playthrough but with max stats she's hitting 50+ defense and 50+ res at
Has anyone tried the vantage/reprisal + micaiah emblem build on the enchanter? Thinking about putting it on Jean and then using the added effect from consuming an HP tonic to ignore chain attacks. Any thoughts?
Zelestia with capped stats is much better than Ivy with capped stats, which isn't saying much. They both have abhorrent caps. They both have trouble landing hits, getting crits, and worst of all, evading moves. A flier that can't evade moves is easily killed by Bows and Wind tomes. Even dedicating both skill slots to Speed isn't enough, as then you can't evade. Dedicate them to evade and even give a forge, and then you're too slow. If you're too slow, you're not doubling, which means you're too weak. The Vantage Reprisal Micaiah build has a hit rate around 159-169, which is super low for a unit that can't evade and has just 1 HP and can't 1 shot most enemies. Seriously, how can you sit here with a straight face and say that Zelestia's Stat caps are good?
I am so surprised by this take, so I am thinking you are probably playing on maddening and getting toasted by the rng? I am playing on hard and I kept Lyn on Ivy ever since I got them together (I am aware most people take Ivy away from her) and she is honestly carrying my game together with Diamant&Hector and Kagetsu&Tiki. They are my 3 unkillable units. Ivy avoids almost all hits and just kills away - I am attributing her survivability on how well she pairs up with Lyn. It took much more effort to make Chloé the killing machine everyone claimed she was (but eventually it happened and the babying was worth it).
I've been having fun turning her into a brave weapon attacker. Brave sword, Nova and the lyn ring for alacrity and speedtaker. More times then not she attacks all four times before the enemy can even attack back
Zelestia with Roy for even more stats while engaged, 1-2 ranged physical sword, and a sword to break lances. Combo with lunar brace and whatever other skill you want. Let the killing begin. Side note, Rafal with Ike and his 1-2 ranged dragonestone, is literally a god.
She's clearly meant to use Levin Sword, but her personal skill actively works against her. If it was Average - 2, that would actually bet a net gain. Sounds cool, works bad.
@@Danscrub , my first round of maddening I put a lot of stock in the mobility/survivability benefits of flying units. Now on my 5th run, I’m not too worried about it. Good positioning and foresight makes up for the difference. I’ve come to find that having units who can consistently ORKO enemies to be the number one important tool. Trading flying for more speed, build, and great class skill is worth the trade. At least for me. I do appreciate how useful flying is though.
@@Yundai07 Unless Zelestia has innate caps higher for mag/spd, she's about the same in her unique class (40 mag & 37 spd) than mage knights with their passive activated (40 mag & 33+3 spd). Not to mention she has 5 more str, significantly tankier, has the ability to use Nova (mainly postgame), and a much easier time killing higher res enemies with soul blade. Sage/high-priests have a better mag, but a lower ORKO chance due to a low spd.
Love Zelestia, she is so strong and flexible. But I kind of hate soulblade. It just nerfs her damage when trying to attack into an enemies weakness. Like you cannot use levin swords now against armor because it will take half there def and add it to half the res and makes them much tankier. Same with trying to use physical swords into enemies with low def like mages. The time it would help is if you attack into hi res units with a levin sword which is kind of nice. It gives her a way to fight mages with a ranged weapon. Or attack into high def with a physical sword but not sure why you would ever do that when you can use a tome. Best case scenario is fighting enemies with equal res and def and then soulblade just does nothing. But yea it hardly ever helps in practice.
Armorslayer will let her kill basically any armor unit unconditionally, pretty cheap to upgrade too. Can second seal the skill away too if it's absolutely too much of a bother. Isn't very good at fighting mages but her res stat makes up for it. Emblems with axes or lances can somewhat make up for crap mage fighting abilities because soulblade can't proc
@@potatobro5096 True but tomes are even better at killing armor and they cant counter attack as often. I feel like the only use case for soulblade is using levinsword into high res enemies. Other than that just use tomes. And I wouldn't want to second seal her onto a different class because then you lose out on the strongest flying mage in the game.
How to Fix Celestia: - Step 1: level her up to 24 - Step 2: Second Seal her to a Base Class like Mage - Step 3: Second Seal her back to Melusine - Step 4: repeat from Step 1
I tried alot of emblems on her but only two stick out for me. Chrom and Corrin. I gave her the Levin Sword with Heroes Engrave which reduces her HIT and CRIT but gives the rest a sweet buff. Since the HIT gets a nerf, corrin's passive Sword Focus (HIT+) pairs well with this. With her being so mobile she can debuff quite well with acces to 2-3 range options. Chrom is a mixed attacker oriented Emblem and I just found it very fitting with her, since she is a mixed attacker. Once Engaged she hits crazy hard with +10 damage with magic.. Really solid with Chrom. Passive wise, my focus was a bit more on the aggresive side. Since I want to make use of her Friend Boost as much as possible. So Lunar Brace+ gets HP drain option when she is attacking which helps her longetivity. And the speedtaker which also helps in her longevity since it increases her avoid ratio but also follow-up potentional on enemies.
Soulblade will rob you of the opportunity to mix&match physical and magical attacks depending on your opponents bulk spread, since everything will just calculate the average. It' s such an awful skill for her. However, since Melusine is a special class, you can just second seal out of it and back into it again, keeping your internal level, but putting 25 levelups between you and Soulblade, which is more than enough to play out the main story.
Or you can just not use a sword when attacking low defence or low res units. Just use your tomes on low res units. And maybe a non-sword physical engage weapon on low defence units or have someone else deal with that like your archer or any other physical character you have. Since it only triggers when you use a sword.
@@pketr5 Sure, but at that point why bother with Melusine if it can only consistently really mess with low-res units? Any mage can do that. The standout thing about this class seems to be its mix of magic and physical, and the class skill actively works against that. You can play around it of course, but whats the point? Why bring a class that you need to work around instead of one that works for you?
@@Ryodraco That would be the one net positive of Soulblade: Being able to attack high res units from 2-range with Levin Sword for relatively high damage. But the thing is, either the unit has high res AND def, and soulblade doesnt matter then, or the unit has really low def but high res, and physical attack would straight up oneshot it, if you could aim for def alone instead of the average. And Soulblade essentially negates this weakness of your opponent by equalizing the stats.
