I remember way back when I lived directly under the flight path of these aircraft as they made final approach. Boeings were silent ninjas compared to these quad-jets. Vicker VC10s, Il-76s and the occasional Concords fly-bys were indeed loud but the Il-62M was even louder. Ah, but what an amazing engine sound!

Well, the sound is the absolute best part of the whole experience. And it does get a bit quieter in cruise flight though so it is bearable :).

The engines have an almost musical concerto sound to them.
