I just discovered your channel about a week ago. You have plenty of content up for me to study while you are road tripping. Thanks for that. A photographer/dive instructor friend once cautioned me not to make a profession out of a hobby or passion. You are very wise to have recognized when the fun of making videos was no longer bringing you joy. I’m so glad you are stepping back when you can call it a break instead of pushing yourself until you quit all together. Enjoy and thanks for all you shared already!

Necessary 1 I've moved - at my age of 74 - changing from tennis to Pickleball - my shoulder surgeries & lose of joint cartilage ... I find it to be easer on the body parts & the folks doing Pickleball seem to be more altruistic on the line calls than in the much more competitive tennis & therein more loose & fun to be playing with. Things are not like they were 25 yrs ago but in ways that's better ! Stay safe on your travels. Ray

As another content creator always doing video while photographing it seems, I know what you mean about it being nice just going out to photograph for yourself and not have the thought of also having to create content :) Your a great voice in the community, but happy for you to do what makes you happy :) Enjoy and thanks for all you have shared and taught us.
You speak so much sense Marlene, thank you for showing me the way with the G9, I’m still enjoying the G9ii. I like to go out travelling light kit wise , so can’t imagine what it must be like with having to take vlogging gear too. I hope you have a wonderful time camping and enjoy photographing for yourself, with no pressure. I think that is absolutely "wonder full" that you are following your bliss as it were! I discovered recently I just need to "be" in nature more because lately I've been obsessed with capturing images and lately I started to again just absorb the beauty of wherever I am and of course there are moments that present themselves and they are all the sweeter because I'm more relaxed! So I'm taking a break too and I totally get what you are doing and wish you all the best :o)

That's the beauty of vlogs - you can do what you want to do but also take the viewer along on the journey :) I've sort of made a career built upon how unsuccessful I usually am at capturing the local Wildlife and the audience doesn't seem to mind 😂 Enjoy finding your passion again but don't take too long! People have short memories!
Great advice and makes sense to me….and what a wonderful set of photos here! Rekindle the joy! Now if I was on this trip I would have headed west and stopped at Vulcan (Star Trek fan) to cap it off! Look forward to when you get back…perhaps you can still simply post a photo once in a while!

Just getting back into RU-vid after a crisis health year and now you are taking time off! Actually, very happy for you. Photography at its best is having fun so may you have oodles of it. Hope you were able to get your G9II (very jealous). That park is awesome! What part of the earth isn't gorgeous, even the stark deserts and wastelands. Although humans do muck things up. Hello Marlene, I've already watched several of your videos. My thanks certainly for the Lumix G9 series. But I have a comment of a completely different order and that is about your last name. I think there is a letter missing and it has a Dutch, and specifically Frisian, background. Hielkema is a Frisian surname and also appears in my family tree.
Thanks Marlene enjoyed your videos on G9 throughout the years and they helped my photography. Thinking of purchasing G9-2 is their much difference from G9 and is it worth the expense ? You should visit Scotland great place for photographers.
I’ll mis your videos. Have fun with your cameras. That is what they were designed to do. I’m not a professional photographer. I view my cameras as adult toys. You know the aphorism, the difference between a man and a boy is the price of his toys. Same for girls? Was so happy to find a GX8 in the local camera store for a good price. Now there is a fun toy. That and my G9. Take your time finding your joy. It is there. When you are ready you will return to RU-vid. Lord knows there are other content providers to entertain and educate us. Advice from Tom Heaton. If you want to make a video, make a video. If you want to photograph stuff, photographs stuff. I don't think that means you cannot do some of both on a trip, but don't go out with the aim of making both. Out photographing, you might find something that might be useful in an unplanned or unscheduled video. Make the clip, but not the video. If you are out to make a video, don't video yourself making a photo, it's the photo that matters at that matter. Recording setting up the camera for a photo does NOT mean you have to publish it then. A voiceover when you make the video is very professional. Sir David does it all the time.
