In late 2021, Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) co-designed a pilot project with the community of Sila in eastern Chad. The goal was to provide access to essential health care to the community while helping to develop the capacity to continue those services once MSF leaves. The community helped create a plan that includes training local health workers, establishing a fund to pay health staff once MSF leaves, and working with the authorities to build roads that make access to care more accessible for patients.
