i am not against keeping our bush open to all people who enjoy camping, bush walking and other forms of recreation. I am against those people who leave their campsites a mess, destroy our fauna and flora by selfish use of recreational vehicles. My wife and I have spent a lot of time bush walking/hiking and camping in our great bush. No, I don't want to see it shut up. Just get rid of the rat bags who couldn't careless.

Yea. Totally agree with you mate. Ive been a hiker, bushwalker, camper, 4wder, and general bush user all my life. We are always cleaning up after others. Ive seen some disgusting things in my life. Mostly rubbish left behind. I never catch the culprits but would love to. The bush is for everyone. It must stay open for all Aussies. The government have forgotten what they are; and that is servants of the people. Not dictators who must be obeyed no matter what.

Absolutely agree, it's not a government problem, it's a people problem. The people who are responsible for the closure are the irresponsible users not the government. You can angry at the government but the responsibility lies at the feet of us.

This doesn't only apply to our bush. Our beaches, picnic areas and fishing piers are all affected by those who like to leave their rubbish behind. There are so many dirty and careless folk out there who think that their garbage is everyone else's problem. We need to get serious with more intensive education campaigns that really raise this as a public awareness issue so that people become more vigilant about this kind of behaviour and there have to be hefty fines for perpetrators. Our grey nomads sign up to the 'leave no trace' initiative and they largely stick to it. Why can't the general public do the same? If you go into nature or shared recreational areas bring bags for your rubbish and take it home with you, put it in your bin. How bloody hard is that?

Whilst people are out ripping up the bush off tracks and leaving rubbish all over the place, they will always push to close it. Its obviously not everyone, but there are people doing it. Its just about respect and decency. I want it to stay open just like all of us, but we need to look after it too.

Has nothing to do with rubbish and everything to do with that 'voice" that got voted down. It's all going to be handed over

I agree mate,, people disrespecting bush is not helping the cause. Look at Queensland, I give 5 years before they ban beach driving because of bad behaviour driving.

@@paulcox9366 Possibly. Whilst there are virtue signalling governments in place, that sort of thing is always a risk.

The biggest problem is people are pigs and leave crap (both figuratively and literally) everywhere. Sadly a lot of people don’t deserve access to these places. I don’t know when people will wake up and take care of or country but I’m genuinely scared it’ll be to late.

True 4x4 enthusiasts... unblock fallen trees across road tracks ... attend to many other bushland anomalies... and don't leave much of a trace of visitation at their camp-sites ... (just wheel tracks!) ... So the Government and rescue etc operators should be extremely grateful... Yet their is a small percentage of slag disruptive mess making yahoo 4x4 drivers... and something must be done about them ... How about some sort of pass issue... that has been issued via a test of sorts... to be placed on the windscreen like disabled drivers have ... And any vehicle without one ... is to be "reported" back to the issuing authority... and as fast as possible... to be nabbed and etc ... Then the government has "no complaints" ... if it FAILS in its over arching duty, then it is its own fault...
