The future of surround sound taking your Dolby Atmos and or DTS X surround sound setup to the next level... if anyone has ever installed height channels and at the end of the movie figured I just didn't notice much coming out of those speakers there are definitely some things you can do. In any stereo or surround sound setup you are always limited to the amplifier which the speakers are taking a signal from. Adding an external amplifier or in this case a stereo power amplifier you have not only beefed up your system almost like adding nitrous to your V8 motor or a turbo or supercharger to your surround sound setup. Adding a external power amplifier can be the one thing that your sound system is missing what this does is not only add two more speakers or amplifiers to the configuration but also brings up the Fidelity Clarity depth detail every noticeable audiable sound out of your speakers will be improved by the quality of the stereo amplifier or power amp you use with your surround sound receiver. For me just the ones surround sound AV receiver with 7.2 surround sound is nowhere near enough. I had to take things to the next level and years ago I brought things from a 7.2 to a 9.2 that just wasn't enough either. After getting my Marantz I realize that it has 11.2 channels of processing power so the next logical decision was to buy an external amplifier and utilize those two extra channels of sound. After doing so I wanted to add another amplifier to the mix the bring it total to an 18-point 18.2 surround sound setup! I can definitely tell you that this blows away any surround sound system I've ever heard and makes any movie more enjoyable simply noticing more details and sound effects. Not everyone has the opportunity to bring 18 speakers into their living room or home theater, what do you do? Add an external power amp! Let's be clear adding an external Power Amp doesn't necessarily mean you have to add two more speakers to your setup you can technically take that Poweramp and drive your existing to front speakers with that two rear speakers even height Channel separately. I will be purchasing an emotiva 7 Channel power amplifier to drive all height channels as well as surround speakers in addition to my 2-channel stereo amp I have now. I went with the emotiva products simply because of their oversized toroidal Transformer and their ability to drive loud speakers at 8 ohms resistance value with 150 watts RMS each. The basx line from emotiva offers only the a300 stereo power amplifier with 150 watts root mean squared however the larger power amplifiers offer slightly less power but more channels. I chose emotiva also because of their renowned audiophile sound with great quality. I will perform a full professional review of the emotiva basx a 300 power amplifier soon as well as performing a video on choosing an external power amp for your surround sound setup.
This external power amp in my living room has not only added volume and Clarity and depth to the audio but has also given me the ability to notice sounds in all of my speakers that I have never heard before at volumes that even animals can't hear. There are just so many different options and configurations one could attempt to achieve with setups like this that is why I will perform a video with my favorite configuration as opposed to the traditional configuration I have things set in this video. I personally enjoy connecting my emotiva amplifier to the height Channel specifically out of my Marantz receiver to enjoy a greater depth of volume and detail specifically in the Heights and adding a second Marantz receiver for pre amplifying all audio to other channels and of course adding seven more speakers to the surround sound system!
