How much (approximately) would it cost for a pair of leather boots to be narrowed like this? I have a pair of Duo boots that are a couple of inches too big in the calf now and I would love to have them altered.
Same with my new boots from J.D Williams. I checked their website, price is £65 to £110, postage to UK £17, that is expensive. I know it is for the time and the work involved but at that price you can easily buy a brand new pair of leather boots!
ugh, beautiful work I agree. if only I could say the same about the cobbler that took in two pairs of my boots. :"( with 40 plus years of experience my boots ended up looking hideous and unwearable. I am a seamstress so I really look at how everything is sewn. My cobbler cut off too much, I can't zip up my boots without them squishing my leg, left pen marks, heel scratched, scuffed, glue marks everywhere from the inside and outside, uneven stitched and cut, skipped stitches, and tension off. $60 a pair for an unbelievable destructive work. Shoes were brought in brand new and left in such bad shape I wanted to cry. all of this took nearly 8.5 weeks. The guy also had 4.8 stars ...very very very disappointed. But this guy did a fabulous job.
I have a sneaky feeling that a lot of 20 eye Doc Marten's owners will watch this vid and weep. Those old boots were designed for someone 150cm tall and 150kg heavy. :( Biker calves, thick socks and jeans and they're still too loose all laced up. The dream of my edgy teenager self 10 years ago, now painfully crushed. It's impossible to find a willing craftsman in my area.
We would have to take a look first, sorry about the late reply. Please email some images over to shop@busybeenewmarket.co.uk and we can take a look for you.
I have a question my boots fit just right but the front part is too big i want some of it to be reduced so i can have a fitted square tip. How can i do that?
I can't see on your website where to order this type of alteration. I have some boots that are too big for me (I have 11.5 inch calfs, they're all too big!). Where could i send some photos to for you to see if you could alter them for me?
I will definitely be I contact, I have been looking for a company that can do this actual type of work (but knows what the heck they are doing which you definitely are good at what you do!) I'm based out of the USA unfortunately but I just saw here in the comments that you do business worldwide! Yah! Hopefully it's not too expensive knowing the boots have to be shipped back and forth where you almost pay more for the shipping than you do for the actual work that's being done. I would much rather see the company get paid all of that verse just giving it to the postal service. Lol.. Thank you for posting this video, you have no idea how bad I've been trying to find a company like this. They make wide calf boots for those who happen to have wider Calves but it's so rare to ever find a mid/tall boot that's under 16.5" circumference.. What about us skinny calf women? Where we need under 13" or so? Boot manufactures seem to never think about that.. I'll be in contact!
sorry had to share --- found boots that totally fit me...with 12 inches...saint laurent lily 95 tall boots. Wanted to share...if you find them on ebay any where...buy them.
We have machines that we can widen boots on the calf. We do a lot of calf stretching and a lot of taking in on boots. Everyones legs are so different that manufacturers can't make boots for everyone.
Hi Margot, It certainly can be done. You would need to email some images of your boots over to shop@busybeenewmarket.co.uk for us to take a look first. Many thanks
Possible with 20 eye Dr.Martens ? Ive been to two shoe repairs (Netherlands) with the boots from my gf almost brand new, just 2 years in the corner somewhere, not fitting right, and they said it's not possible. 1 said it has to do with the tough leather, other said just No way, won't begin with those without giving a reason. :(
Holy smokes. I know this is an ancient comment, but I'm in the same location (NL), same problem with a pair of made in England no zipper 20 eye Doc's. Have you found a cobbler for it? I have a super-nice, honest and amazing cobbler in the area, but he won't do it either. I've wanted these boots for years and I finally got them... and now they're my biggest disappointment :(
sav0405 we would need to see the boots. You could send photo;s to shop@busybeenewmarket.co.uk or use our online repair service www.pickupmyrepair.co.uk/assessment
