Maggie’s mum and dad recently had a new engine installed into their narrowboat and asked us to take it for a test cruise to make sure everything was working as it should. After raiding their boat for supplies several times over the past few months, we could hardly say no to this small favour!

Those Canadian Geese are so invasive now. Even here in the states. They shot down beautiful swimming lakes due to ecolie caused by goose dropings.

But...well ...that poor doggy being dragged into a life of crime. He'll have his face in the rogues gallery...so sad for a pup. Really unpredictable vlogs . Loving them. Ta

Probably would be worth checking the stern gland for drips, now it's had a run after a lay off,may need a twist of the greaser,yes I know you already have done, sorry just checking.

Thankfully it’s a dripless shaft seal, but always good to check just in case, after all the new engine’s just gone in and you can never be sure everything’s lined up correctly 😉

@@carriea4868 No wonder that engine looked so shiny ! Dunno why they had issues with reverse - it should need no more effort than forward ! Limp-wristed ? In fact, all things considered, if there's a difference between forward and reverse re controls, they could have a chat with the engine/gearbox fitters to see if that's normal (it isn't !)

Pixel will soon be able to get a haircut along with the rest of us! Control cables may need greasing to get full smooth movement. Possibly adjustment too. Reverse is either in or out, so there shouldn't be a problem there even if it does need a bit of running if new. Happy cruising.

I'd advise going back to engine/gearbox fitters if there's really that much difference between forward & reverse. Could be sodding typical of modern 'workmanship' - fitting stuff without lubricants.

Unfortunately we haven’t got around to fixing the bow thruster yet, that was supposed to be fixed on our next visit. 😕

You need to keep that harness on Pixel ALL the time with a tethered connection with an alarm! She is SOOOOO gorgeous! Great humorous vlog as usual guys :) Shame the parents can't come over at the moment :( I bet your Dad is itching to try out that new engine :)

An observation Running the engine with shore line connected is a no no. Apologies No 4 if you disconnected from inside boat before you started engine. Keep safe and dry and virus free both 🙂

@@davidsedlickas8222 The 12v and 240v systems on a narrowboat are not connected. The inverter and shoreline have a change over switch that further separates the systems. If leaving your shoreline plugged in can damage your alt when running the engine your boat is not correctly wired.

10:26 Definitely "wine ding" (hole) as you're winding (aka turning) the boat around. Was that a bow thruster control I spotted there ? Did you test that ?

The bow thrusters are currently out of order, so couldn’t test them. Had to do it the old fashioned way! 🤣

@@NarrowboatChef Must have missed that bit -with the barge pole ;) Incidentally, the unofficial technique is to carefully dunt into the bank with the bow then full rudder and full power forward - makes the effect of a bow thruster at the stern !

We did one for Maggie and Ryan’s patreon’s last year, but we’ll look at doing another general one when we get over next time, unfortunately that’s looking like it will be 12 months away as here in Australia they’ve banned non-essential international travel for at least another three months. 😕
