Terrific list, but I think you forgot to mention how much enjoyment you obviously get from being together. It is great to see how you bounce off each other, thank you for taking us along, my family feel like we're there.

The wildlife conprocon is true for anyone living outside urban and suburban areas. We used to have a flock of Guinea Hens who migrated daily through our yard. There's nothing less intelligent that Guinea Hens and they're really noisy. On the other hand, they took to roosting in our cottonwood tree and, the summer of PG 1.0, our dog and our friend's dog (while he was deployed) ate a lot less dog food. They just waited under the "Yum-Yum Tree" for a sleeping Guinea Hen to fall.

I have been living aboard my narrowboat now for a year and I love it, a bit lonely at times, but I'm getting used to that more now.

Having lived on sail boats for a number of years and traveled tens of thousands miles, I can relate to both your pros and cons. Bottom line is, it’s a good life! Too bad there aren’t grocery barges like the fuel barges. Enjoy, stay safe👍✌️😊🙏🏼

well I know the feeling with Pixel, we have a labador named Chloe and yes she sleeps with us on our bed, and she loves her cuddles every day when I get home from work she sits waiting for me to cuddle her and she actually closes her eyes enjoying it.

Hello Ryan and Maggie, I live in the Brisbane area near the beach. We have an overwhelming number of crows in our area, in the summer they start fighting etc first thing in the morning, some times 4am onwards! I have got used to them mostly! Your bird noises don't sound too bad! Would you like me to send some crows over? ha ha

Sometimes what you might think is a complete remote area is not so remote. We broke down with a broken slip differential miles from any town or village. While we were staring into the engine bay and waiting for a mechanic and a replacement part, a man completely naked came walking around the corner on the towpath. He spotted the boat and did an abrupt u-turn probably more surprised than us. You never know.

And on a river you have a swimming pool next to your home. I’ve been on the upper Thames during our mini heatwave and loved cooling off in the river in isolation while others headed to crowded beaches. I too love isolated moorings but do worry what would happen in the event of a medical emergency.

Greetings number 4 Your Thetford cassettes are now modified with wheels to drag instead of carrying. I agree clutter is not an option really on a narrow boat useful items are more practical. Once you've made the adjustments to the life style change it is a great life. We did it for 7 years. My frustration is with the poor boat builds and design. If the latter were done properly then life on the water would be even better. Your at the mercy of poor weather Locking is not easy if its the female is doing it whilst the male is steering it is essential that both share the locking for better harmony. We had a 70ft liver a board and my good wife was not confident in steering so locking always fell to her. It was not a good outcome the locks are old heavy and dirty very very tiring for her. Jo does most of the locking on minimalist" she would agree with what I have just said I am sure. Glad to see and hear both of you on our screens again. Keep safe and dry and virus free🙂

Negatives - we are not continuous cruisers yet so still have transport/ we have a pumpout as no room for cassette - otherwise agree. Positivites - agree totally although we don’t have a pet but that is our choice. Like you we’re so glad we made this choice of lifestyle.

Just thinking is get a convertible 4 wheel wagon that you can add snow runners on in winter where the bottom of the wheels stick through the snow runners with ice cutters if necessary to make pulling the wagon easier.

Ryan, you hit upon an important ethos: it's not that things are harder. They're just extra work.

You might want to buy a two burner convection cooktop. Big advantage is after being on full heat you can remove the pot or pan and place your hand right onto the burner and it's cold won't burn you.

An interesting video. My wife and I had a hire boat a couple years ago (for a four day out and back trip) and loved it so much we decided to do it for a longer three week stretch. We were supposed to be there right now but.... y'know... Have you run into problems with immigration/residency/visas and if so, how did you work around them? I only ask because the idea of retiring aboard a narrow boat quite intrigues me and while I have UK citizenship, my wife (Canadian) does not. (We live on Canada's west coast) BTW... been to Australia a couple times now and loved every minute.

Why do I get the feeling that you two are going to be in your 80s, sitting next to each other, and Ryan's going to keep making "broke the boat" jokes. :) At least then Maggie's going to be able to whack him with her cane.

I have to disagree about the size of your narrow boat being the same size as a one bedroom flat as ive lived in a one bedroom flat and it was bigger than your boat, but I would love to live on a boat, maybe if I restart playing the Lottery and win the jackpot then I would definitely buy one probably from scratch and have it fitted out to how we want it and fit our needs and have it adapted for my back problem

Hi folks another great vlog but you missed out the most annoying irritating thing that happens out on the cut and that is you have spent all day cruising to your favourite miles from anywhere no traffic no trains no aeroplanes spot you have moored up and got stuck in to a quiet game of scrabble or reading your book then suddenly the roar of a bloody generator some twat has sneakily moored up behind you and are going to run their genni all night😠😠😠😠😠😠😠😠😠😠

You don't make it easier to live stranded...

Come on.... toilet duties should be 50 50!
