@@richardhale2117 Yup, one of the reasons I hesitate to buy a classic is because even when they've had a massive restoration, you can guarantee something on them is always not going to be working properly - and if I tried to take it anywhere with my wife, she'd indeed pull the pin as soon as there was a strange smell or the blower motor stopped or whatever - so I'd be left with short Sunday morning drives by myself.

Of all of your cars, the jaguar stirs my heart the most. As a kid, growing up in former Yugoslavia, a neighbor was working in Italy and purchased one. I spent countless hours sitting next to it and just looking at every inch of it sensual shape. My mom always questioned me where I was the whole day. I couldn't explain myself. @peterduxbury927
@peterduxbury927 11 месяцев назад
@@timbo19751975 Well, I find that hard to believe, because this car isn't naturally aspirated, but Fuel-Injected. The ECU knows everything, the RPM of the engine, and also whether the throttle is open - or closed. When the throttle is closed, and the engine RPM is, say 3000 rpm, the Injectors should be delivering zero fuel. There are other reasons why the popping happens. Could be a slight air leak anywhere between the Exhaust Manifold and the whole Exhaust System. An over-rich mixture. I just cannot see the reason why anyone with such a fine car - would allow the popping and banging. It most certainly wasn't running like that when the XJC l;eft the Jaguar Factory as a new vehicle. Harry has spent a small fortune on the Fuel Intake System, and also brand-new (later-designed) Intake manifolds. I have yet to hear any fuel-injected car pop & bang intentionally. Let's face it, all cars today are fuel-injected. It would be a difficult thing to do - to override the ECU to make it "pop and bang". Greetings from Australia.

That road through Portstewart, Portrush and Downhill (where you have to go under the railway to get onto the beach) is one of my favs. I've driven it a few times over the years, twice in my Caterham (in the company of 40+ other kit cars) on a day like you had with perfect blue skies. Beautiful part of the world. In fact, the whole route from Westport, up through Donegal, across the top and down to Newtownards is just wonderful. It's right and proper that it rains in Ireland because if the weather was predictably beautiful all the time, it'd be swamped by tourists. As it stands, if you can bear the weather, you can enjoy the jewel that it is relatively quietly. Some of the roads are challenging in a Caterham - for sure. So good to hear you stretching the legs of the Jaaaag through the gears. Sounds absolutely superb, you must just want to keep working that gearbox so you can listen to that glorious engine. Great trip… apart from the rain! 😆

Great film Harry, hope you enjoyed our beautiful country. We are real petrolheads in Ireland, our roads are more suitable for rallying which is why it's such a big sport here. I wish I could have met you in person and got to see your beautiful car, I am a big fan of the channel. Thank you for showing Ireland in such a nice way. 😊

Thanks Harry for coming to Ireland and especially featuring the North Coast and NW200 my favourite part of the world. You should come accross for the race in May on the bike with Charlie you would love it and get a very warm welcome. Should also have done a lap of the Ulster GP track while its mostly associated with bikes these days has a long history of car racing with both Moss and Fangio racing there back in the day.

I had an XJS in the past, I switched out the TH400 gearbox shiftblock to a manual one, fitted a Hurst shifter and opened up the pipes a bit, with some cherry bombs. It sounded so lovely. Those V12s sound like a spitfire when you give them some beans, there really isn't anything so lovely to hear. Lovely Trip Harry. I'm very envious as a clipped petrol head.

The Lancia and Jag side-by-side look GORGEOUS! And the sound of that V12, you just don't hear that any more. And driven by someone who knows how to use it made it a real treat! The big girl was surprisingly well behaved on those hairpins too.

Welcome to Ireland Harry !! ☔😁 . And , as you mentioned the colour green on the Jag ; Origins of British Racing Green ; It takes its name from the green international motor racing colour of the United Kingdom. This originated with the 1903 Gordon Bennett Cup, held in Ireland (then still part of the UK), as motor-racing on public roads was illegal in Great Britain. As a mark of respect, the British cars were painted shamrock green

Good to see you over here and experience the various roads, the Jag is a wonderful car but I'd say the Fulvia would have been perfect on the tighter routes. In fact the Fulvia would be perfect for some of the Deja-Vu events that run over classic rally stages (non-competitive) with a lot of former competitive drivers. It would be a good way to experience something of the flavour of period Irish rallying and roads in an appropriate car.

Sublime and sonorous. What a beauty the XJC is. Wipers are rarely required in Ireland. 😎 If the 'R' roads aren't enough of a challenge, you should seek out the 'L', which are best tackled on a bicycle. Lovely film, thanks for sharing.

In 1980 I spent a couple of weeks attached to a general practice in Abbey Road, NW8. The GP I was with had a red XJ Coupé and was very proud of it. Spent some time explaining the differences between it and the saloon.
