I think the problem has been that these people who removed their hijabs were seen as strong positive Muslim role models. Suddenly they removed their hijabs and left people feeling that faith wasn’t that important to these women. Hijab and modest clothing is a requirement of Islam and when these influencers stopped it viewers were not comfortable with this at all as it went against Islam.

Or is it that the Quran is not promoting what the preachers nowadays are promoting? Are these preachers promoting a distorted history written by their chiefs? Quran is the Furqan (the criteria) to judge between the right and the wrong. If something is commanded in the Quran for the foundation of the ‘Deen’ then it is clear, coz it’s the guidance from the Almighty Allah.

I’m happy that you touched on the good things they brought to the Muslim community. Like you said they showed the day to day life. They allowed so many people to see that Muslims are regular normal people. I think it’s crazy when people say that they used the Muslim community from the beginning. I’m sure they didn’t know that in so and so day they were going to remove the hijab.

It's crazy, but I also understand where they're coming from. The average viewer really thinks that being a RU-vidr is glamorous. When really it isn't... At the time Dina Tokyo, Amena and others started their channels, there were no such thing as making money from it or turning it into a career. It was just a platform to share your ideas and showcase your creativity. Eventually RU-vid became what it is today, but it didn't start like that. And I'm glad that you appreciate all that they've done for the community. I really wanted to be as objective as I could and also talk about where we need to draw the line and be careful :)

What happened is fashion became too important. I like fashion too, but you should set boundaries for yourself. One of my boundaries is that I wear skirts and dresses only. I used to wear skinny jeans before I started wearing hijab and I still really like jeans, so I fear that loose pants will slowly become skinnier and skinnier if I wear pants, as we see with other hijabi sisters. Those pants will eventually get tighter and shorter, and we know what can be next.

I agree with a lot of what you said sister. However, I've noticed over the years that Fashion is an important part we shouldn't neglect, because it allows us to express ourselves in a way... I do believe modesty and elegance can coexist :)

@@ZheinabEmpowers Oh, I follow fashion trends too. I don’t know if I will ever be an abaya-wearing woman. It’s just not me. I’ve always had a more sporty/casual style. So it’s loose skirts and sneakers with loose blouses and knits etc. that I wear. I’m just so thankful that the last few years loose skirts and retro styles have been trending🤲🏻 9 years ago when I started wearing hijab it was close to impossible to find nice dresses and skirts

KHIMAR just means COVERING (in the Quran) Why do they need history and lots of explanations to add concepts to KHIMAR which is a simple straightforward word? - NO “ladies’HIJAB” found in the Quran. - (The word HIJAB is used in the Quran but NOT for ladies.) Check these Ayath/verses that they say have Hijab in them. (But not found) In Quran 33.59 - “ … JILBABs over themselves…” in Quran 24.31 - “… KHIMARs over the JAYBs..” The word is KHIMAR in the Quran.24.31 - Root Meaning of KHIMAR is just a COVERING, it can also be a neck scarf, any scarf, dupatta, chadar, etc. There is no head, hair, veil, niqab or any such importance in the Quran, They have SHIFTED the IMPORTANCE away from the JAYB Check the transliteration in Quran 24.31: “yadribna bi’Khumur’ihinna ala juyoob’ihinna” [Plurals : khumur, juyoob] // *..put-forth COVERINGs OVER THE JAYBs…*// KHIMAR = COVERING and JAYB - is like an opening in a dress, deep-neck, like shirt pocket, mostly translated as chest, bosoms To verify JAYB from the Quran check this example in //Quran 28.32 (part) “…. yadaka fee jayb’ika …”. // “… put your hand in your Jayb..” (clearly a pocket or opening in the dress) (or) some people translate it as chest/ bosoms coz that’s where they understand the Jayb is. Again, please see where the importance is in the verse: “put-forth COVERINGs over the JAYBs” - but the EXPLANATIONS of ‘Sect’ /Firqa leaders promoted the concept of ladies’HIJAB - by adding it in books written much later after the Quran AND by adding words with brackets in translations and explanations - gradually shifting the importance of COVERING the Jayb - giving importance away from the Jayb seems like DISTRACTION from the main EMPHASIS. AND also - these Firqa leaders wrote the Dictionary centuries later to push their meanings - please ask them : when and who wrote the Dictionary that they show their meanings from? We should not accept new meanings to the words after the word is used in the Quran - in the present era the meanings can be understood by checking the same word usage within the Quran - see where the word is used again. QURAN is it’s own DICTIONARY within it - (by using the important words in other verses and locking the meanings). They should know when the same root word is used for khumur/intoxicants even then it’s used for “COVER” - - any KHUMUR /- intoxicant or alcohol COVERS the ability INSIDE THE MIND - - Please NOTE : khumur /intoxicants/ALCOHOL does NOT cover the HAIR or outer-head. How can a religion claiming to be for the whole world - promote desert clothing for far off freezing lands? They’re Spreading culture and calling it religion - They took the desert clothing that is needed in sand storms and called it religion OTHER religious groups were ALREADY wearing it in the desert. IF anyone wants TO FOLLOW WORDS OF ALLAH then they should verify with the Quran - coz every secondary source should match with the Quran AND they should not add words in translations. JILBAB: Means any decent OUTER CLOTHING worn above the under-garments - it’s plural is JALABIB The verse in the Quran 33.59 is about JILBAB - it’s about wearing outer clothing - where it also says that “they can be RECOGNISED and NOT HARASSED” Here the condition is to be recognised : how will anyone RECOGNISE if you cover fully? - So avoid tight clothing - it’s really simple as per Quran. Wearing clothes that the security personnel and other people are scared of coz they cannot recognise the person inside - as a result you face difficulty and then that results in feeling harassed. Check the verse Q.33.59 below and remember that some translations or interpretations have added words in brackets - so look at Arabic /or word-to-word translation to VERIFY, yes VERIFY. “… alay’ihinna min jalabib’ihinna… “ (Plural-is JALABIB) //Quran 33.59 O Prophet! Ask your wives, daughters, and believing women to draw their JILBABs over themselves . In this way it is more likely that they will be RECOGNISED and not be HARASSED. And Allah is All-Forgiving, Most Merciful// -- Notice it’s only talking about properly covering themselves - there is NO emphasis on head, hair, face covering in this verse also. - Some of them will not VERIFY what is in the Quran - word by word. And you may get to see how they will jump to start calling IGNORANT and names to the person showing them the research.

If indeed the hijab aims to appear simple (hijab=modesty) and not luxurious, why do many women who wear hijab actually compete to beautify themselves? they are the same, if not more consumptive than women who are not veiled.

In my country most women wear hijab because its a trend and the older ones wear it because they feel uneasy amongst other women who already worn hijab so they put it on, too... Back in the 90's only a little number of women who wore hijab, even a wife of cleric only wore a veil, not really covered their hair.

Where are you from sister? And I completely agree with you... nowadays hijab has become a fashionable piece and has lost it's true purpose for many women around the world. I think that has a lot to do with the standards of beauty and social media. Anyone can see it happening on instagram... I would lie if I said sometimes the idea didn't cross my mind to wear it like others do, or even to take it off but I try to remember why I wear it in the first place.

Yes! That’s the correct approach. We must READ the Quran and try to understand the message - without any influence from any Sect preaching. //Quran 6.159 Indeed, those who have divided their religion and become sects - YOU ARE NOT WITH THEM in anything. Their affair is only to Allāh; then He will inform them about what they used to do.// Halal/Haram has to be a command in the Quran When you see some humans declaring Halal/Haram with their tongues- then see this: //Quran 16.116 Do not falsely declare with your tongues, “This is HALAL, and that is HARAM ,” fabricating lies against Allah. Indeed, those who fabricate lies against Allah will never succeed.//

@ZheinabEmpowers 3 года назад
If you watched the video in it's entirety, you would understand why I think it is dangerous. We as muslims should wear the hijab and observe modesty, as it is being asked of us in the Qu'ran in verses (24:30) and (24:31). It doesn't make us perfect, but it helps perfect our character and eventually bring us closer to God.

@@michaelwilcox8187 I actually think you're right for the most part. But like I said in the last part of my video, we are all on different journeys and so every person is moving at their own pace toward an ideal. Rome wasn't built in one day and similarly people cannot change overnight. But then again, I don't think beautifying oneself for boosting your confidence and feeling good about yourself is a bad thing. Especially if it is not done to completely transform your face. And I don't do that.
@michaelwilcox8187
@michaelwilcox8187 3 года назад
@@ZheinabEmpowers all I'm saying is hijab worn to hide ones beauty. Makeup is literally made to reveal it. So I find it funny to hear modesty lectures. Look at Mormon, Amish and Jewish women. Scarves and no Makeup. And they' don't even boast about modesty. Have you seen a Jewish woman in a scarf go on and on about wearing it? Nope.
@ZheinabEmpowers
@ZheinabEmpowers 3 года назад
@@michaelwilcox8187 It honestly seems like you just want to challenge me and the modesty thing right now. And t's like you didn't read the part where I said "people are on different journeys so you can't expect them to change overnight." And so you're only judging on what you see right now, and not on how far people have come. But anyways... Don't get confuse on what Islam stands for and what muslims do. At the end of the day, I'm simply a human being that aspires to do better. And yes I make mistakes, but I also learn from them and I do better. So you are welcome to see the journey and the growth or you can decide to stop watching my content. Last thing, I would recommend you to listen to some of the lectures of these scholars to have a proper understanding of what Islam is really about: Mufti Menk, Yasir Qadhi, Yasmin Mogahed and Omar Suleiman.
