Thanks for the ride in the V that was a lot of fun riding along virtually, would have loved to be in the passenger seat. But then I also like riding with you in the snow in the mountains in the truck. Thanks do it again please.
These rides never get old. I enjoy them so much, even if I white-knuckle it some of the time. Riding in the V was a new experience - love the sound of that engine.
I am loving this video. The roar of the V engine is like nothing else. You live in an area where you can really take advantage of everything this beast has to offer.
Are you sure Mario wasnt behind the wheel. Beautiful scenery in a swoosh with rock that appears to be jetting out over the passengers side of the road just after you mention falling rock. ha ha. God bless you MMM!
Love Independence. Back in the day the family took it west to east in a Dodge dart, at night in heavy snow. They were closing the road for the season behind us. Believe it was gravel at the time but so much snow couldn't tell! We made it home, driving thru South Park on empty, well below zero that night. Once over Wilkerson knew we had it made!
Dude, you got so lucky, no one was on that road that you had to pass, NICE!! They were all going one way!! You should do "Million Dollar Highway" in your Caddy!!
Love the sound of a supercharger... We needed something a bit tamer so bought a Vsport. New England has great driving roads but nothing like what you have.
I love Cadillacs. I have owned about every kind of car there is and Cadiilac tops the list. My last one was an '02 Elderado and it was a beast that would stick the road like glue. I'm older now and I miss letting a car eat up some pavement. These new Caddys are awesome, I would love to drive one for a few days. Great video!
Mountain Mike, as a former OTR driver years ago, and one who drove mostly in the east, I longed for drives through the west like you do.The CTS-V sounds great. I just think it would sound better with a manual and much more fun to drive , wringing through the 6 speed like a race car, a satisfying sense you won't get from an auto trans. Still, you have a gtrat car and so grateful for all the videos of thr beautiful west. I also admire you for taking some very interesting two laners that some drivers wouldn't do more than once. Hat's off to you! Peace.
The guard rails long about 12:08 sure looks beat up! Lots of cars kept from going over or else falling rocks hitting it! Sure love the sound of the V! I've gotten to where I don't like to go to touristy places because of so many people especially buses full! Now they have the same right to be there as me but all the crowds remind me of where I worked for 27 years at WDW! The more people the more impatient people become!
I recommend the Valentine One radar detector. I've had two of them for 20 years. The latest generation works fantastic. I just upgraded one of my units
You came over this Pass a few days ago in another of your videos. I recognised that parking spot at the top. Nice area! I think you said that the big trucks (and I am not talking about SUV's and the like -- I am talking Commercial Haulers) are not allowed over that road.
A car called, "Tucker" had a single headlight in the center of the grill, that turned the direction of the steering wheel. That was many years ago. The oil companies would like to thank you, for your continued support of their products.
a French car from the 1960's , Citroen DS, had a mechanical system that turned headlights around the corner Pretty nifty stuff. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-rRHogyYXFiQ.html
Mike Pierce Airlines the OOOOOOOOOOOnly way to fly. Now who remembers that slogan, with a twist. You know you are having fun when you find yourself almost out of your seat during the curves and there's no seat belt on this chair in front of my computer. Whew, what a rush. i agree lets close the course. Just a little different than fighting the snow on Vail and the tunnel. And we are ready for some of that!! Be careful out there Mike, hang on winter she's a coming!! PEACE
The town was called Independence. I do the same thing with traffic in the sense of driving slow to let the group ahead get farther away. I then accelerate until I almost catch up. Was in Leadville 3 days ahead of you heading to Montana. Traffic was horrible but I took 24 west to Minturn then north towards Hayden. Smoke was horrible most of the way north.
Hi Mike, Thanks again for another fantastic video, nice drive too, did you have some problems with the V a few videos ago, did you get it sorted ok, what’s the story? All the best, Dave
Well all I can say to that ride is "Thanks be to Jesus" I was travelling with you, as had that been me, myself, I think I may have got myself into some tricky situations, as several corners that I see no traffic on, I cut in straight lines. Yes I know British drivers got a lot to learn but remember our roads are far narrower than yours. So thanks Mike, must say I like the performance of that V but as for your headlights changing direction, my wee Ford Fiesta Active has them as well and in sport mode - is she a shifter!!
@@ewizzle2 ....yes....I owned a 2008 Z06 which in my opinion was the best looking shape and drove it from Florida to Texas and then out to California and back. In top gear doing 75 the engine was purring at just 1300 rpm and smooth & soft chassis as if I were in a top of the line Mercedes or Toyota Avalon.....and a quick downshift and throttle slam and it turned into a blood thirsty vampire.
What does it mean when you call your car the v? We don't know what that means. Thanks Love the video. What happened to the semi that went down on your last trip?
That is the old town of Independence. I wish you would have continued on down valley to Glenwood. I grew up in Basalt and Carbondale, would have loved seeing my valley! Loved the ride!
