25 years of this beautiful 1999 Cricket World Cup. Just like 2023 World Cup, Australia lost the first two games of 1999 World Cup and no one thought they would make such a devastating come back and win the World Cup. Once they started winning, there was no looking back. They decimated every single favorite contenders for the world cup.

It was the toughest World cup for bowlers during that 20 year period from 1990 to 2010... Every other world cup we had dozen bowlers averaging below 20 and getting wickets except for this WC... Allot really had a dream run in this one and particularly when the group had both finalists and he showed levels... Personally I think if it weren't for Klusener who had arguably the greatest WC performance of all time, he could've been a serious contender for MOT...

well only the 90's people will really feel & understand how WC 1996 , 1999 ,2003 & then 2011 was or use to be..

He had a unique three finger grip for a paceman. Nowadays his company in NZ supplies meats and seafood to lot of 5 star hotels in Mumbai.

in my mind, this world cup probably will always remain the best. so many things to remember. my first world cup in true sense. Bangladesh's world cup debut was in that year. Sachin, my hero, unfortunately lost his father during the tournament. he came back and scored a hundred! there was controversy regarding sending him at number 4. Prasad bowled the spell of his career against Pakistan. Bangladesh beat Pakistan which was unbelievable. Saqlain i think made a hattrick against Zimbabwe. Zimbabwe beat South Africa. That semi-final between Autralia and S.Africa was the best world cup match to me until 2019 final. Cronje and Bob Woolmer created controversy by using a hearing device in the match against India. And of course, the tournament had the best cricket jerseys of all time.

being a 12 year old left arm bowler from Pakistan in 1999 I left Wasim Akram and start imitating him (Geoff Allot). Saw him first time in the world cup (I'm not sure if had debuted before the world cup). Alas! He couldn't play more due to injuries. Great memories.
