I ordered Takomo 101 head and used steelfiber 75s graphite shaft. Today, i hit amazing iron in golf course, so fking easy to play . 7 iron around 170-175 y, dead straight. Love from Vietnam!
Loved it. I use the same shafts as you, just soft stepped once to get spin to an ideal range. I really wish I could blend the sets. Looking at the numbers made me just want it more. Something like a 101T 4 iron, 201 5-7, and 301cb 8-PW. I think I would be placing an order if that were the case. I still consider the 201s all the time, though, since they seem to be a good all around mix. We will see.
Excellent Vid. I'm planning to order a set of the 101 or 101T in the next month or so. The stats from those two clubs is exactly what I expected, but I would loved to seen shot patterns, launch and decent angles. I know the 101's are hot and lower spinning, but if their launching higher and descending steeper, then that compensates for the lower spin.
Got a set of Tacomo irons about a month ago and have used them at 10 rounds. I shoot low to mid 70's from senior tees. These are the best feeling clubs I have hit in years, are very forgiving, and look like blades. I had them made 1inch longer than std with Fujikura graphite shafts. I just wish they came with an A-wedge. Very happy with them.
Thank you! I am really interested in a set of Tacomo 101’s and have wanted to see this comparison between the sets. Now I’m leaning toward 201’s. I am 72 and still play to a solid 5 hdcp but right now I am rehabbing a completely torn rotator cuff so golf is out. I would like to see some numbers on the graphite shafts for comparison. I have saved the KBS numbers.
Hi Nice Video and I think i‘m going to Order some of These 201s. Would be nice to see, when u would give a normal guy on a course / Range some of your takomo Clubs, to see what they shoot and what they say to the feeling. Also a Video about your fitting Generator would be nice. Explan the Numbers that I get there.
I would have expected the 201s to spin more than the 101ts. Anyone have any input regarding this? I'm struggling with getting height and spin because of too low dynamic loft so I need all the help I can get.
Would really love to see launch & descent angle info on these. I wouldn’t have expected the 201s to be slightly longer than the 101Ts. I can only assume that with the slightly higher ball speed & spin rates, the 101T must launch considerably higher than the 201s.
Great video. I have the 101's but thinking of adding either the 101t or 201 to my iron stable. Some thoughts on the video and things to show or discuss. 1. Display a table of each iron with the lofts for each model and individual iron (4, 7, P). 2. Use the track man software to show dispersion for each model/iron along with the numbers to the right. See 2nd Swing for what I mean as they do it well. 3. Maybe having a friend with a more "normal" swing speed do the same test for comparison. Otherwise, great video.
I have the O.G.’s (101’s) and the Skyforger wedges (48, 52, 56, 60) and I am so happy with the gapping. Would you do a video showing the gapping with all the sets I think most people will be really surprised!
100 mph clubhead speed with a 7i. I know we can all relate to that. I guess you were having bit of an off day haha :D No, seriously, awesome video and keep em coming. I'm considering Takomo as my next set of irons and these kinds of videos really help me as I've never tried them and don't know any whose got em.
Great video! I think your mission of providing quality clubs at reasonable prices is amazing. How visually different is the top line of the 101T vs the 201 and 301cb? I’m a 3 handicap and like the idea of the added forgiveness, but prefer the look of a thin top line and minimal offset. Keep up the great work!
Challenge: 9 holes, eight to twelve handicap. Swing speed, roughly, 90 mph. I play nine holes, three times a week. Sometimes 18? What can they do for us? Sell me a club? I have shot two 38's back to back, AND, I can still pull out a 48 to 54. I can shoot consistently from 43 to 48. Now, I don't care what the club looks like, ( could be the shape of mickey mouses face, ) and the color don't matter, ( could be pink, with stripes or polka dots, ? All these , look how good I can hit these clubs adds, do nothing for me when they start out with, " I like the color, I like the finish, I like the looks, can't make me hit them any better? Right. Went from a beginners set of top flites, to Calloway X12's in 1996. Never had a lesson, never been fitted. Do you feel lucky? Well? I am a retired 69 year old, try to think, ( and swing, ) like a twenty year old, and sometimes, I feel, walk and act like I am 90, overweight for my height, ready for a new set of clubs? Maybe?
It looks as though the 101T and 301MB have close numbers for spin rate and total/carry distance. these clubs are 2 degrees different. 32 vs 34 for the 7iron. Not sure my point but was interesting to me
I want to know more about the FEEL. Especially between the 101 and the 101T. Which one feels softer? I prefer the feel of a forged club, but it’s been over a decade and I am 63. Hoping to come across a lesser priced set of irons that have a soft feel. Thanks.
This was a very good comparison. As a 67 year old, 11 hcp, I would lean towards the 101 irons. Just because my hcp is dropping I don't buy into playing more difficult irons. I want my game to be easier. I would like to see a comparison of the 101 and 101T in graphite with a swing speed of 82-86 mph for a mid handicap golfer.
Nice yardages but a 100mph 7 iron! That's quicker than PGA Tour average. Us mere mortals swing a 7 closer to 80mph which would give a more realistic outcome. You swing a PW about the same speed as I do my driver!
For me, distance is not the most important factor but consistency with distance is. I just went back to my 2006 Callway X Tour irons because my Titleist 100T's are not consistent for me on distance. I can fly a 7 iron 190 or 160....too big a difference. So for me, I would love to see two things, the standard deviation of distance and the overall dispersion. While I am "good" enough to play forged blades, I am getting older and liking the more forgiving nature of the callaways. So my goal is to loot at the Takoma 101's and the 101t's.
OK. The test is quite interesting, but with an average club head speed of 100 miles you can probably play any golf club well. I have old Nike Vrs golf clubs. I have a handicap of 28. I play my 7 iron (R.Flex Graphite shaft) when I hit well at 120 to 130 meters. What stops me from buying a Takomo golf set is the fact that I cannot test this set and the tests you see on the internet are not relevant to me as an average player due to the club head speed. P.S. I think the Takomo golf clubs are great, the price is good.
Hello, i play the ping iblade with DG S400 and i’m looking for a new set of irons. I hesitate between 201 for a Little bit forgiveness or 301 CB. Any recommandation? And about the shaft, i dont know maybe kbs tour lite X-stiff (92-94 mph 7iron).
I'm just starting to play again after a decade hiatus, was an 11 hdc but far from that now. Trying to decide between the 101's and 101T's. I like the lofts on the T's better, but I know they give up some forgiveness. I'm hoping for a good recovery of skills and don't want to buy a game improvement set when in a year I'll need players distance (fingers crossed). Any thoughts??
Hi mate I have purchased the takomo 101 iron set, 4 through to pw. I want to buy a skyforger wedge also but am unsure which one to get Do you think the 52 or 56 I am an average player at best Any advice would help me
Is there a video that recommends which clubs would be best suited for each type of golfer? I've never been fitted before. I have a high handicap, with an average swing speed. I get good contact most of the time. Not sure what type of grip I should get and things like that.
Thanks for the side by side through the sets, Tim and Takomo. To save some wear and tear on yourself Tim you could try spacing data gathering out over the course of a week?
I currently have the 101t and happy with them but have been curious about the 201 and 301CB. I am not as fast as you but similar in I tend hit my irons high and being in windy Texas can be a bad thing sometimes. Interesting you mention you feel like you’re going to hit the 101t’s to high. I would be interested in seeing the peak hight #s. I know CG location is part of it but if I remember right the 101t is 2 degrees stronger then 301CB.
Hey I’m really stuck between the 101t and 201. I love the way the 101t looks but I also hear great things about the 201. I’m a mid handicap looking to get rid of my old hand me downs.
Hi Tim I received a message that I had won a set of 201's through a Alex Etches and sidekick, not been told what happens next ref; shaft-lay-length cheers.
Being a Direct to consumer iron . I would love to see the performance for the average golfer how would by these . Ie 80 mph swing and reg shaft for peak height ,decent and spin rates
Really wish the 201 and 301Cbs with the same shafts would be in these videos. I feel those two clubs are the ones that overlap the most. Also the numbers such as launch angle would be nice. Even though the lofts are off seems as if we hear about how lofts are lower because of the club designs etc.
I have been swinging the 201’s for a little over a year now and I love them. I was a little concerned about these clubs because I haven’t heard a lot about them, so I was glad you gave them a little love in this video.
What club head speed would you consider for stiff flex. My irons are 87mph. I have stiff flex now but would like a little more insight before buying Takomos
@@takomogolfcompany tend to hit high shots distance is less . Played through my 30’s getting back to playing again. Had a nice summer, irons are worst part of my game by far.
The head of my brand new 101t 5 iron came off the third round of play, the only response i have have from the company have been auto generated.needless to say i am very unhappy and not sure where to go from here.
I know they are based in Iceland or something like that so I imagine the hours to contact the company are rather odd if you are in the US. I do not own these clubs yet but from all the research I have done this seems like a random odd event. I had a head come off a ping 5 iron once it can happen to anyone I guess
