This is how Rem sees Subaru: the coolest hero of them all. He is no super hero, he doesn’t have discipline, he doesn’t have resolve. He knows what’s important to him, and he won’t let it go. Will he save the red demon, or will he save the blue demon? He will grab both; so long as it’s within his grasp, he will definitely save it. For nothing is more painful, even all the suffering he goes through, than knowing you could’ve done something, but instead letting it go after it was in your grasp. What makes Subaru the ultimate hero isn’t that he’s strong, it isn’t that he’ll perfectly deal with any situation, nor is it his wits. It’s his greed in his unwillingness to accept sacrificing what’s important to him, it’s a greed even stronger than the witch of Greed, Echidna, herself. Sometimes he may lose himself in the moment, overcome with rage, despair, the many emotions in life and make mistakes; he’s human, just like anyone else. No one is perfect, be them gods, kings, or heroes. What makes Subaru the coolest hero is that even though he’s human, even though he knows he has many faults just as we all do, nothing will stop him from taking hold of everything in his grasp and never letting go. He’ll never comprise on the future where they can all be happy together: no matter what or how many times it takes, he’ll do everything he can to make sure they can all grasp that happiness together, laughing as they talk about the future. Giving up is simple, but that doesn’t suit him. Subaru truly is fanatical like a demon.

No one will know about your sacrifices, your greatness will be obscured and forgotten because of death, but the countless lives saved and lived in freedom are your happiness and redemption.

This artwork of Subaru is legitimately badass. Suits his development honestly. He might still be physically weaker than most (at least in the anime currently), but mentally he's grown more than pretty much any character ever.

Man, this series and the music has made such a big impact on me. This song especially, it gives me chills, it kinda gives me this feeling of, "I've got one shot to do this!"

He was never a hero. He was a coward that believed in fantasies. Nowhere near even having resolve. But in the first cycle, there was a spark. A spark to somehow save the one person who had greeted him nicely and gone out of their way for him. But slowly, at spark turned into multiple, again and again, until those blinding sparks made a flame that wanted to protect those who he treasured. Despite not having the strength, agility, or set fighting style others had, he trusted himself and his instinct when it came down to it which was better than anything else. He *was* never a hero. He *was* a coward who believed in fantasies. But he morphed into being somebody more than that. He wants a happy ending, and chases such a hope. People change. This ost is so powerful. One of my absolute faves of all time. I'm a musician. Before writing this comment, I was playing For Honor, and listening to the Pirates of the Caribbean soundtrack. I remember watching Re:zero for the first time back in the day, I remember me and my buddy started playing Dark Souls 3, it had just came out. he decided after a few sour invasions that he hated the game. I played until I beat it. Darkeater Midir was my biggest challenge. I eventually beat him. It was weird feeling like I was frozen in time until Midir was behind me. Read the LN it’s still ongoing The Anime cuts out a lot of exposition and worldbuilding for more action,The novel goes into detail about things like the political state of Lugunica, the surprisingly complicated magic system, and the lives of supporting characters like Crusch and Wilhelm,the novels flesh out Subaru a lot more than the anime, which makes some of his more selfish actions in the later story arcs more understandable (if not necessarily justifiable)

A gentle reminder that in the eyes of every single one of Re:Zero's characters, save for a few that know about his peculiar condition, Subaru seems to be some sort of master tactician that never ever fails to predict it's opponents moves and how to counteract them. Creating strategies based on information that no one should have, or that is just outright ridiculous and no person in their right mind would even begin to consider as a possibility, but yet there they are, dumbfounded as they watch the plans of this... weak, unexperienced young man catch every singe one of his enemies off-guard, and perfectly countering even their most desperate and devoid of thought actions like he knew what they were going to do even before they did it. For us, viewers, Subaru is nothing more than an idiot that fucks up tens of times until he actually succeeds thanks to his "Immortality" and tenacity. But for everyone else... It's as if Subaru could predict the future of the whole world.
