Bummer on the old chuck. Rode hard & put up wet, it would appear. Glad you were able to find that New chuck ! Should give you good service. On the spindle bore, what about using a wire wheel on a long shaft to start with to knock the big rust clinkers down, then go over it with the hone after to dress it up ? Just a thought. Thanks for the update on your New lathe project. Always enjoy your videos ! Thanks for your time & effort to make & post them. Stay healthy & warm. Till next time..... :)
Your new chuck uses a double tenon joint on the jaws. The chuck on my large lathe has that as well. Yours is the only other one I've ever seen that has that type of joint. Mine was made by Mario Pinto in Italy. The old chuck that came with my large lathe was worn out about the same as the one on your lathe. Essentially unusable. Ebay is a great place. Ken
