I wholeheartedly agree! I had never been more interested in guitar until I found Stevie. I've learned a lot from him and he inspires me everyday. Not only with guitar related things, but he inspires me to be more of myself too. 🥰
You guys are restoring my self-esteem!!! 🥰 These guys are NEXT level guitar though. I haven't been able to 'practice' much since RU-vid became a full-time job!! 🤣
@@SteveTerreberry you are very good and very inspiring. I also play a little guitar and you inspire me, and your reactions to those players are excellent. I love your humor and you make me laugh out loud a lot. Thanks! You are a great guitarist and a great comedian. Must be super cool to have you as a friend and band member. :) keep rocking my friend. You are right about the guitarists you show here. They are just so precise they are almost beyond normal, like the goth girl you like, or they use weird and specific techniques which demand so much practice I can’t even imagine. I hope the goth girl gets in touch with you. She’s cute and shreds to perfection! Cheers Steve! 👍🏻👍🏻😊🎸
The microtonal guitar player (who used a nail file for a pick) is Tolgahan Çoğulu from Turkey. He's the inventor of the microtonal guitar that divides each fret into 9 commas used in classical Turkish music scales called "maqam"s. Like the "countless fretted" microtonal guitar, the fretless guitar was also invented by another Turkish virtuoso Erkan Oğur. And never mind the nail file thing, he is a great finger picker.
Thanks for the comment. Actually I have 3 guitar designs: Adjustable microtonal guitar in 2008, Lego microtonal guitar in 2020 and Automatic microtonal guitar in 2021. Best wishes
About the microtonal guitarist at 7:10: I met Tolgahan in Istanbul in 2011. He also has a Lego fretted guitar. And yes, traditional Turkish and Middle Eastern does use a lot of fine-tuned notes like that. I've seen Arabic guitarists with quarter tone frets on electric guitars and fretless acoustic guitars. Middle Eastern music in general uses melodic modes, each called a maqam; many contain quarter tones. The frets of a sitar are also movable since traditional Indian music uses tiny interval deviations, each called a shruti, and those tiny changes in pitch against a drone change the mood of a raga ever so subtly. And blues is really microtonal. Also, the Indian slide guitar is called a "Mohan veena". (I'm a prog metal composer/songwriter and bass player myself who uses a lot of microtonality and very weird time signatures in my stuff--read about irrational meter sometime.)
I've seen the Lego-Fret Guitar video & that guy is off-the-hook as a player. I was so amazed that I shared a link to his video on my Facebook Music Page.
Hi, Steve! Sorry I didn’t get to comment last week. These were beyond impressive! 😲 A lot of the acoustic players reminded me of your video with Sean De Burca! Your guitar skills are very impressive too, I can’t tell you how many times I’ve watched you play & was amazed!
No problem Ashley!! Yeah, Sean De Burca is next level too. These acoustic guys just blow my mind!!! I guess that's a different area of guitar though. I prefer my old school shredding! 😉
I love how even Stevie struggles to copy Sean De Burca's slappy acoustic style of playing. It's cute seeing him struggle at guitar. 😆💖 The slappy acoustic style is pretty cool and definitely takes a lot of skill, but I also prefer old school shredding.
Vera danilina was the red headed classical guitarist who “didn’t even have to look at the guitar”. She is an absolutely amazing Russian classical player.
Ehh . She’s ok. You know, you people don’t HAVE to fawn and fall over these rando guitar players who have posted videos online. Makes me laugh seeing people absolutely cream over someone with an acoustic.
I remember, back in the day, when being able to play the main riff from "Smoke on the Water" Actually Impressed people. 0,3,5...0,3,6,5 Guitar playing really has changed. But not for me!!!, because after all these years, I can still only play the main riff from "Smoke on the Water!!!" P.S. I typed this message with my butt hole. LOL
Yeah! Nowadays you'll get kicked out of a guitar store for playing 035!!! 😭 What's more impressive though is that you typed all that with your butt hole!!! 🤣
I’ve been playing 20+ years but I have never taken it seriously until lately. I’ve been mediocre at best. Now I am practicing hard and constantly. Stevie your playing has been an inspiration to me to get better. I wish I had this drive years ago but better late than never. Keep shredding bro. 🤘🏼
After playing 11 years, i wish i would have focused on rhythm guitar more than lead. I had a big bag of tricks but that was it. Looking back, i think i would of had way more fun learning a ton of songs rather than trying to perfect lightning fast solos with perfect accuracy. The "perfectionist" in me is a blessing and a curse. So much time spent 'practicing' and not enough time enjoying the core of it all.
@@rockabillly88 I’m the exact opposite. I’ve played rhythm forever and got really good at it but was always too scared to attempt the leads. So soloing is where I am at now. Keep at it my friend! We will both get where we want to be.
@@MirrorMusicXero Alright, sounds cool. I practiced alternate picking primarily in the beginning. It gets pretty tough when patterns arent consistent. I found Malmsteens approach to be way more effiecient for muscle memory which is both sweep and alternate picking. Just a heads up from my experience. Maybe it could help
I've also played guitar for 20+ years and never taken it seriously ... though it's probably more accurate to say I just repeated the first 6 months of playing guitar 40+ times.
All of these were amazing. I remember seeing that video of the guy dumping the picks through the sound hole and thinking, “That’s a great way to annoy a guitarist.” 😂 Another great way to annoy a guitarist is let them play the shreddiest thing possible and then ask if they can play “Wonderwall”. 😑

The last guy is Kevin Frasard, probably one of my favorite channels right now. He's a killer old school death metal/thrash metal player, which aren't typically my thing anymore, but he's such a damn likable guy that I have a great time watching his stuff anyway. He's also a huge BC Rich nerd, and I love seeing people geek out about guitars the way he does sometimes
I think it is great when you do these videos. It gives some exposure to really talented musicians. Gotta say that I have never seen some of those instruments before. Wouldn't it be cool having candy coated guitar strings. Calalalalalalalalalalalaing would taste so yummy. Great video. Love you my boy!
LMAO. Do you not remember the sticky terror of those candy bracelets and necklaces ? Do NOT give him OR Ernie Ball an excuse to make signature candy coated strings.
Yes!! These people have worked HARD!! And a lot of them don't have the exposure they deserve. Candy coated strings would be epic!! I was thinking Twizzler guitar strings. But I would end up eating them!! 😆
Don't ever give up playing Steve, you are so special and talented. 😂😊I melted into a puddle when I heard you play that guitar cover of Careless Whispers. 💕🤘 I would love to learn how to shred on a electric guitar someday, but right now I play acoustic guitar and sing.
Don't have a bruised ego, you're all just extremely talented in various ways💜 that's why music is so fun. There are so many ways to do the same thing so your imagination can go crazy with it. All of you are awesomely talented people🤘😁
Stevie I have the best news my mom has started guitar playing 😃 she started doing it BECAUSE OF YOU she was inspired by you to play guitar 😊 she wanted to say thank you stevie 😊 thanks Stevie for the amazing video
I've followed Kevin Frasard for a very long time. I've really enjoyed following his journey and he might look intimidating. However, he's kind of guy to give you the shirt off his back. Now, he is getting sent free guitars from guitar companies now. That really shows you how talented he is and to keep practicing! So happy for Kevin and wish him and his family the very best. Also, cheers and much love to you guys, from NC! 🤘🏼🇺🇲🤘🏼
You inspired me a lot Steve, I started playing and taking guitar lessons when I was 10 and I actually had to relearn guitar all over again. I was born with a super rare kidney and liver disease and have had to undergo 3 different kidney transplants and 1 liver transplant in my life. I'm 33 right now and had my first transplant at 13 which I lost to pneumonia bc after transplant you have to take medication to basically kill your immune system so your body won't reject the transplants. my most recent transplant was back in 2017 it was a dual kidney/liver and since it was my third kidney transplant the recovery was incredibly hard. About a year before that transplant though I started having heart issues and it caused the tips of my fingers to slighty club and the shape change was enough to where I had to basically reteach myself new ways to play because for example playing open clean chords the reach was tougher because they shortened by the tiniest bit, so like if I would normal play a CMaj i'll play a Cadd9 instead. It took me like a year to even get close to where I used to be. Also between my 2nd and 3rd transplant I was on dialysis for 8 years and it caused me to develop severe bone disease and after the double transplant the bone disease kind of kicked into overdrive and I went from easily practicing 7-9 hours a day to now having to take a 10-15 min break every 20 min or so. I don't think I will ever be able to get back to where I was before all the shit happened but I do my best. I tend not to post a lot of me playing bc I'm incredibly self concious of both the way my hands/fingers look and even though I get compliments on my playing a lot I still feel like I suck compared to my old self. Plus being tech disabled I can't work anymore so upgrading gear is tough, I recently was able to get one of my dream guitars from when I was a kid an Ibanez Jem, its not the top version but it's still awesome, literally took me 6 years of saving though lol. When I first found your channel a few years back and saw your Kiesel custom headless I was in love, Kiesel's headless guitars are so friggin beautiful, I was looking through their collection after I first saw yours and HOLY SHIT man some of those headless models are so gorgeous, one day I'll own one. But yeah dude I love your videos, you are an incredible muscian with a truckload of talent, easily one of the top guitarists on the platform, also huge congrats on playing with Dragonforce! I can def understand having bad social anxiety, I've kind of been housebound since 2017 with this most recent transplant I gotta be super careful, even moreso now because of Covid, so the Anxiety I always have had basically quadrupled after 2017 but thankfully we have the internet so it's easy to not feel super isolated. Anywa sorry for writing a book on here my friend but you are a huge inspiration to me and many of up and coming muscians I'm sure! 🥰🥰😊😊

The Indian slide guitarist is Pandit Vishwa Mohan Bhatt..he is a Grammy winner and the guitar he is playing is called Mohan Veena , and probably he created it...i saw him live once he is incredible...i discovered him while watching a crossroads festival video
Steve you are one of my inspirations to start playing guitar. I've been watching since Oct 2020, and started playing on Christmas of 2020. I have been self taught by you, Marty music, tyler larson, jared dines, and more! Thank you for staying consistent with your humor and guitar.

See im terrible at guitar but good at trumpet, tuba, and contrabass tuba and im very impressed by stevie and the amazing content he makes and stevie your videos have helped me cope with depression and suicidal thought and have kept me alive. Keep up the amazing and cool content
Always awesome to see an upload from you Stevie. YOU'RE STILL THE SHREDGOD! Screw what the community says about you. You have to dive this deep to find people better than you and that says enough.
About the "no pick" option, try to see some video of Andrea Braido or Matteo Mancuso, just to name few Italians that are not usually using a pic to shred 🙂 Well, Jeff Beck docket. 🙂 Thank you for sharing!
I went and rewatched some of Stevie's earlier vids and forgot how insane his Yu-Gi-Oh guitar duel video was. Easily one of the best guitar playthroughs I've ever seen. If you want to show off what you can do, that is exactly how.

Thank you Steve Terreberry for this amazing reaction, so inspiring to all of us.There are so many amazing guitarists out there that I didn't know about before. You are also the inspiration for many of those guitarists, one of them Amar Alhoch

The man playing slide guitar with tabla was Pandit Vishwa Mohan Bhatt. He plays Indian classical music on a guitar, not something we see very often. And he's a grammy winner too.
Yeah, the instrument is called a "Mohan Veena," basically a hybrid of a guitar & sitar that Bhatt himself made. He did an album in 1996 with Bela Fleck called Tabula Rasa. It's fantastic.
This was awesome!! I recognized some of those people, in fact that last one was Kevin Frasard...he plays some good stuff. I don't know a lot of the acoustic finger style players. As impressive as they are, it's just not something I have any desire to learn. Not to mention the time and abilities it would take that I do not possess!! 😂🤣 You're right up there with the best of the best Steve! You are the one that got me interested in playing guitar (and bass) again after a very long break 🥰
Kevin Frasard!!! That's right!! I have seen him before. He was a bit of a meme for being such a muscular guitarist. MOST of us haven't lifted weights once in our life! 🤣 I appreciate the compliments!! I would love to see you shred some time! 😃
Any of those "percussive" guitar guys are ripping of legend Micheal Hedeges who was a GOD before he passed away in 1997 . He invented the guitar thumping but it would be tactfully used...not like a drunk monkey figuring out bongos. Micheals songs are here on you tube . check him out and you will see what these guys are TRYING to be ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-OPB-ShG_UWY.html&ab_channel=type3secretion he was about the song not just showing off

It took me 32 years of watching Nuno Bettencourt and Steve Vai, but now I can finally play about 1/50th of any of their solos super easy barely an inconvenience!
Thank you for showing us Vera. I just discovered Edson Lopes who has a very flowing interpretation of Bach's Tocatta and Fugue. Vera is the most LIQUID guitar player I have heard.
The second guy competed in America's Got Talent, if I'm not mistaken. And the moment I recognized Jason, the playing made total sense! Dude is simply on another level all of his own. He also has a very distinguishable picking grip that I can't recall seeing another player using. Phenomenal.
The guy in Vans hoodie blew me away! Watch out Michael Angelo Batio😉. It takes a lot of skill and talent to play as good as these guitarists, but at the end of the day, I only want to listen to those who play with emotion ,passion and creativity (not just technical skills). And you my friend have it all. I must say, you looked so confident on stage with W.O.T.E. Glad you did it. ❤️And stop licking those strings 🤣 please 😝
Wise words Stasa!! Soulful playing will always reign supreme!! But it blows my mind how technically skilled these people are!! 🤣 I had a BLAST with WOTE! Was super confident until I didn't play as well as I hoped! But you will see in next weeks vid! 😉
Perfect fun! 🎉 I'm glad I at least recognized Jason Richardson. 😆 When "Sparrow" recently came out, I seriously thought, when is Steve coming up with a banger like that?!? One day, you just have to!! 😊 But I was quite impressed how far you can stretch techniques with a guitar! Flamenco always works anyway, and Alla Turca, without a pinkie? Phew!! That Sitar thing wasn't despicable, either! So, thanks for broadening my horizon here and have a fantastic weekend!! (That seed sling, tho!!! 🤣) Cool, you're hopping on stage more often, now! Hope, you will still get many, many chances!!! 🤩
Steve - You taught me how to sweep pick. For that, I am forever grateful and I'm sure you're an inspiration for many others like me that have been playing for 30+ years and can finally give Lil' Wayne a run for his money when it comes to shredding. Thank you.
I have always said the greatest guitarists (and musicians in general) are people you have never heard of and never will. They are quietly sitting at home, shredding at a god tier level.
I don’t know how any of that was human lol! It’s so cool how creative people can get with guitar 🤯 When I first started watching your videos you inspired me to pick my guitar back up and you help me to keep improving, but I also get torn after watching you play because I get so self conscious of my own playing and think man he’s so much better lol 😅😅 Thank you for always inspiring me! Great video as always Stevie 💕
Isn't it crazy!!? These people invented new ways to play guitar. Makes me feel so un-original!! 🤣 Not to worry. The key is to never let it discourage you. There will ALWAYS be someone better!!
@@SteveTerreberry if I had to compare my guitar skill with Stevie I would stop playing. The thing is I can play the music I love, which is pop punk. I leave the hard stuff for the guitar gods like Stevie 😅
I freaking loved this video but stevie t is such an inspiration to so many people out there and he is inspiring me to pick up my guitar and learn how to play it
Shawn Lane is another guy with tremendous technique, and extreme expressiveness. I love your work Stevie! I'm a big fan of DragonForce, and I met your work with that video on how to compose a power metal song hahaha
I like this. There are so many talented people, I'm amazed by them. And thanks to the youtube algorithm I discovered the one of the most talented guitarists.😉❤
So glad RU-vid is working like normal this weekend… haha! The second guitarist I have seen on Tik Tok before, but don’t know his name. These people were very interesting to watch… and are pretty good and obviously talented, and you are right up there with them, if not better! You are an amazing guitarist!! I hope you had fun at Canal Days with Walk Off The Earth so glad you are starting to overcome your anxiety it is not easy so I am glad that after DragonForce, you are putting yourself out there more and performing! You are definitely an inspiration, not just with music but with anything! I have anxiety as well… sometimes it is not easy, and can be frustrating at times. But you just have to move forward. I love seeing you be yourself in your element, and doing what makes you happy… not giving a single f*** what other people think. I need to start not giving f***s about what people think lol but I do struggle a lot with that. You do you, Stevie! That’s all that matters! 😄 *high five* ✋🏻 I also like reaction videos! You should do more. But it is probably not as fun for you as the music stuff is haha
Thanks so much Sarah!! Yes, it's been MANY years for me. I've been back on anti-depressants for a few months now. They definitely help take the edge off. To where I can play on stage without too much nervousness!! Still don't think I could find the courage to TOUR though. Don't give a scrote what people think, Sarah! I think you are AWESOME!!! 😃
I struggle with anxiety as well. I've actually been struggling pretty hard again lately, but I just don't show it or tell anybody. 🥲 It feels like a lonely struggle sometimes.. but I'm glad I have Steve and this lovely community to help me feel like I'm not as alone. 💕
@@_emilyelizabeth_ I am not diagnosed yet, but I know that I have some form of it. I think generalized anxiety disorder maybe. But yes I am always here for you if you need someone to talk to, Emily! Saw you added me on Instagram the other day, and I added you back!
@@seanthony18 Yes, I saw that you followed me back! Thank you so much! 🥰 I have more social anxiety rather than generalized. I even struggled with being selectively mute as a child. Meaning I was physically unable to speak in certain situations that make me stressed or uncomfortable. I can speak a lot better now in more situations, but I still struggle with anxious thoughts and what others might think of me. Sometimes I just feel like no one really likes me or loves me at all. So that means a lot to me when people notice me or go out of their way to be kind to me. I try to do the same to others because I know what it feels like to not feel loved. 🥲💖
This video does a really good job at describing my feeling towards percussive guitar. So many of those guys are really talented but cannot help themselves in writing percussive guitar bongo breakdowns that end up having nothing to do with the rest of the song. Tom Boston does a really nice job focusing on the melody and using the percussion to support.
The absolutely jacked guy is Kevin Frasard, he is an absolute beast on guitar and in the gym. His down picking is close to, if not maybe better than James Hetfields. The dude is insane!
