In this video, I wanted to share licks that helped me and thought that they might help you too. www.gear4music.com/cables/mogami ULTIMATE CABLE: www.gear4music.com/Guitar-and.... mogami.co.uk/ #guitar #rock #mogami
Fastest way to learn anything on guitar is to go for it knowing you're going to suck at it at first, but with enough repetition and focus, one day you'll get it.
That is probably the lick (Zakk Wylde) that changed my playing level altogether. I was in a plateau for so many years because I was self taught and never took lessons (much) and eventually I noticed after watching my favorite guitar players on video I started to see how their technique was completely different from mine. I started truing to play and make it look more like them. More structured, more controlled, less convulsive looking. Zakk Wylde licks, especially the first part of the solo for Mr Tinkertrain that is kinda similar to No More Tears. Then some Dimebag stuff. After a while I noticed I was able to play faster with less effort. It should look similar to water flowing when you play. To the point where it feels almost effortless. The more you try to force it and tense up, the shittier your playing will seem.
This has to be the MOST helpful video I have seen for learning to shred. It's like my abilities have been there, I just need the knowledge on where to play.
Noticing how you start with upstrokes, I deeply relate. Years ago I used to watch all these tutorials for fast alternate picking starting with downstrokes and never worked for me. It was one day that sort of came as a revelation that I was able to play those licks if I started with upstroke, and I never trained or practiced them like that before. It possibly had to do with my general way of picking or bad habits that are deeply engraved in my head, that just makes it easier for me to process alternate picking with an upstroke
This USUALLY depends on the angle you naturally hold the pick. Tip pointing up or down. And that has to be pointed out when someone tells you to start on a down stroke.
Fantstic fantastic video very well done sir! Thanks a lot for this sure made my fingers work out so much and felt so good at the same time. I can already see great results in a few weeks of practicing this. Cheers mate!
One of the best shred lick videos i've seen. These licks are great, especially for intermediate players to learn. Thank you, would love to see more shred lick videos.
Thank you very much, this is very helpful, you summarize everything in 15 mins, awesome, I have to practice this until I get it, really appreciate your effort in comprehending different guitarist styles, once again thank you so much.
Cameron. Thanks for your tutorial. I have to say its refreshing to have someone take the time and slow it down for the rest of us to catch up with what's really going on. So precise and to the point. No waffling on at the start of the video which makes a great change lol. I absolutely know this is going to help me a lot. Fantastic work gringo 😁
Very cool thank you Sir for sharing your skills and obviously there are many legends who inspired you too. Definitely many will thank you especially in the future because of what you shared 👍👍
You’re Videos have helped more than any other Guitar demonstrations ,…I really think you have the perfect teaching technique,..and using the right camera angles…and the right playing speeds to show every detail. Thanks for all the priceless, knowledge sharing.
@@CameronCooper You very well deserve it ,….I’m a lead player also,… I taught myself my own unique style of running up and down the fretboard ,..Basically improvising , But the first time I saw your video,…it was “Steal these licks “, I could practice right along with you and for the first time in my life ,..understand every detail , I can see your picking also which is what I needed help with . I practiced about a week on one lick and unlocked a new approach ,speed and the walls came down. I’ve been recording your videos so I always have them . ..just wanted to say Thanks ,..and You are a no. 1 at teaching and Shredding. 🎸 ,..I’m gonna catch up,…I might be 90 but I’ll get there.
Hey Cameron,.. I’m telling you man,..when I put a video of you and then you got this great trick to teach people…where you show one little section ,..like a mini lick,..and then you’ll say ,..experiment with that for a while ,….or youll say like,… this is a killer lick all on its own . …that’s how you helped me out because I’ll find one riff like that ,…which I need to work on that weak spot but I’ll pause your video and be jamming through all types of variations,…and then 30 minutes later ,I realize I’m still on the 1rst or 2nd lick,….it’s crazy ,…thanks ,…yeah you should keep those teaching tricks in your tool bag,..cause that’s what gets motivated Guitarists experimenting and then improving ,..
Starting the 2 note per string licks with upstroke helped me so much. It's crazy that I haven't thought about this after playing guitar most of my life lol. Thanks!
Hey Cameron I have been playing for 20 something years and have always struggled with alt picking. Can’t tell you how many times I have tried and failed! Your videos are really helping me and for the first time I am seeing some improvement. Something that hasn’t happened in a long time! Thanks for the licks & tips dude, really appreciate it 🤘🏻
Another great/inspiring lesson. The trademarks of the greatest modern guitarists are those who can combine styles/techniques and "meld" them into their playing. Cam has this ability. Hoping one day you can share some insights into how you developed "continuity" in your lead playing...
After this video I feel that all the scales I've learned actually have a purpose. I am going to start using some of these techniques to improve my playing. Thank you.
Thanks a bunch Cameron, this was it for me , it was a turbo boost for my playing, for sure. The last segment was key fore as I had learned the pattern years ago , just had never figured out a way to resolve it. This was a good lesson .
This is a huge help. I consider myself a novice and I had the biggest writers block with my guitar phrasing, before realizing today that my lick library is still very limited. This is a breath of fresh air. Thank you for sharing!
Can't wait to work on this as I had head into shorter summer hour at work. BTW I'm a lefty that plays right handed like you. Dad was right handed so right handed guitars were in the house. Thanks for all the help. I never thought I'd be able to play these quick phrases. 00
Thank you for one of the most technique packed shred lick lessons ever made . It’s these types of no non sense to the point usable fun to play lessons that keep guitar playing fun .
Very nice practice runs mr Cameron i started using a pick that looks suspiciously alot like yours from dans guitar store (precision pick) and is best pick i ever used , love it , thanks for scale lessons
Left handed with right handed guitar here either! Very useful licks! The ones I will certainly incorporate to my playing. I was trying to create some by myself, but this video is a real shortcut.
