Hey fanta, I wish your Chanel stopped growing so that it’s “that channel that only I know about” you know before it’s big. But I want it to grow so you have lots of success. Best Wishes to.
When I worked at best buy the first customer I ever talked to was deaf. I walk up to her introduce myself to her and ask if I can help and she just stares blankly at me and starts trying to sign to me and I'm like well shit.
That bit about being nervous answering the phone reminds me of when I worked in a theatre. I would actively avoid answering it because it always felt so awkward
Once you work for a telecommunications company (Cable , Sat etc) it gets easier. You get more at ease answering phone. I'd always try a quick opening "Thanks for calling ____ , my name is ____ , what can I help you with ?" This way they can get whatever they want (be it to vent angry or not) off their chest lol.
Ecwfan I'm just socially awkward and can't talk to people. (Ironic that I worked concession in a theatre for 2 years) Otherwise i' d be working at a help desk, hoping to move up in a company.
One of the cashiers at the store I work at goes SO intense with the up-selling I literally cringe overhearing her and watching the customer get annoyed and pissed. No shit, she tries to up sell probably 8-10 times within the ~60 seconds of the transaction. It’s ironic because our company actually says in our training “don’t be a pushy sales person, you will just annoy and irritate the customer”
yeah its walmart... but its a job. you could be looking for work and not have a job. when i work at wally-world i just didn’t socialize with people i worked with. didnt talk about stuff other then the job. if people wanted to gossip or spread shit i excused my self and went off to do what i needed to do for the day. i was there for a paycheck. not to make friends.
My first day at Walmart they told me I would be spending the day on register up front. After an hour or so the hiring manager comes up and says "So you pretty comfortable?" I said I was, and they sent me to electronics to start working right away. There weren't any red flags, and I got the job primarily because I was let go from the movie theater I was working at. My childhood friend was my in there. If only I'd have known at the time I would waste 7 years of my life there.
You should start a couple new series, how about tales from high school where you discuss the crazy teachers and classmates you had to deal with, and takes from college where you talk about what it was like at college and what you had to deal with. Maybe even get Eric to come on and talk about his own stories about those topics
I love the gameinformer magazine, idk why, but I like them. It's why I get the procard, and used games for the switch aren't tht risky, so I get the discount.
I remember my first day at Gamestop back in 2009. I was so excited to work there and had a good time for about a year then being a Gamestop employee made me start hating my life. I remember when we had GameInfromers in the store now they screw you over with digital. I have the elite card and they automatically signed me up for digital, I went to the store to change it to the magazine, call customer service and went to their website. Still waiting on that magazine its been since October. Digital by the way is the same exact articles off their website so technically paying for it is stupid.
Hey man I just wanted to say thanks for your awesome show, I’m a real fan of your work. I feel a real connection with you because we’re both from Tucson and about the same age, anyway keep up the good work Bro I’ll keep watching! -Justin.
I've worked at two Walmarts (transferred after moving states) and I have to say, what I found interesting about my first days after the transfer was how different it felt from my previous store. In good ways and bad, on one hand my new store was much cleaner and up to date than the previous one I'd worked at but on the other it was much busier as a result. Much different feel.
As always a great addition to my morning! You cracked the beer and I hit my medicinal bong and loved every minute of this episode! As always I will now have a Fanta-Tastic Day!
Jelmer Berghs Ive been working here for 6 months. It gets better if you stick around. I'm close with managers and coworkers now and we all smoke weed and just chill at work
I just went to an interview at GameStop, days before I did the online application, and a day later was emailed to show up with a resume on hand (Even though I gave them my resume via the online application....but whatever okay. Once I got there the guy was on lunch, so I had to wait, which was okay for me, so I went back to the car, and waited, I went back in, and was told that he's on the phone, and to wait for like 20 minutes, and again...I was okay with this, so I left, and came back, I could hear him conduct an interview from the back door area, and once it was over, he called me in OR so I thought, he conducted the interview out on the sales floor (Which gave me some bad vibes from this approach, because all this told me was he was trying to get the interviews fast, and swiftly (who cares if anyone was listening) attitude, and I would say I did by best to answer honestly, and try not to notice that everyone in the store could listen to our Interaction as the other 2 guys who have yet to have interviews are right next to me....(My god man...) not to mention I called him sir, but it would seem that "he" had some things one that could be best to avoid the "sir" pronouns.....because you know how some people are these days....my god....I hope he doesn't me back, I feel soooo rejected from this....eventhough he was talking about how my pants, and shoes are good, and my shirt can be anime/video game related, and that seasonal is what we are looking for since he already hired a manager. (Again, I was okay with, I just needed some cash to make before I really get a job in the long-term, I mean it would help to get a seasonal job due to black friday, and holiday season...so....but still....my god...the interview....this got me to order pizza, and give the pizza guy my resume, and he had told me that it was best to do it online, and I told him I did, and thought it would be best to also give the resume. (It wouldn't hurt I would assume). So I did. And now, here I am eating pizza, with little cash left for 2 months of wifi, and that would be it....thank goodness I live with my parents, but still...I would like to work again to give rent to my parents, and still have wifi.
My first day wasn't bad, went fast and I hardly remember it. But my manager at the time was about to leave on vacation (which turned out to be permanent.) The assistant manager became my manager and she is cool. The one I have problems with is my current assistant manager.
One of the perks of being a regular at a Gamestop is that you get free stuff (if you ask nicely and if you buy something) and employees don't fuck with you once they recognize who you are. After months of visiting my GameStop, I no longer get that stupid "Would you like pre-order Call of Shitstain Reach Wars"? "Sorry, but I'm not interested in that, if I was, I'd ask you."
My first day in retail was at Kmart. The lady that trained me was in her 70s and for some reason worked in electronics lol. She had no clue about anything in electronics. But that's to be expected at Kmart.
My managers once as joke, called in as "Ricky" wanting a smoothie with femme boost. Being the good soldier I was, I made it without judgement or question and put it aside in the cooler. No idea whatever happened to it, as it was still there unclaimed at closing time.
He’s baaaaack! I love your channel. I worked retail for the better part of a decade. And Eric is right about Best Buy and their managers. Hated working there.
"Thanks for calling gamestop's where you can still pre order God of War and get 30% trade in credit towards it and we will be having a midnight release for it. This is Mike how may I help you" Level up was the shit we needed to use for training. Then the Circle of Life.. I don't want to get into that cancer.
Mike Muniz that phone greeting will haunt me for life. My first and only write up was from answering the phone without the greeting and it turned out to be an undercover manager. I was working alone and had a bunch of customers. Fuck that. My poor manager felt so bad but our dm was on his ass about it.
My first day at this store called Menards that's mid west based (it's like home Depot but better) I was a dilivery puller, whitch means whenever some one has something delivered from our store I went and got it. It was 98 degrees and I was out side getting cinder blocks and lumber for 8 hours. Not a bad day though.
I’ve never really had anyone at any GameStop preach about the preorders or preowned games or whatever. It’s always just if I have a rewards card. On the phone to. I’ve never had a long greeting.
My first day working at a call center taking calls: I was so nervous on my first call where I had to transfer the person, I told the person I needed to transfer them to the correct place, I put them on mute (with their permission) and then I scream for my coach to come help me because I forgot how to transfer a call. Yes, it isn't that good of a story, but it was my first time. Now the first time I got yelled at and told a sob story, that one's for another day.
When I got hired at GameStop I was doing the paperwork on the computer reviewing benefits tax paperwork etc . They told me how much I was going to get paid which was 7.50 an hour at 12 hours a week. A customer young woman overheard this and gave me a look of pity. That’s when I knew I’m wasting my time working at that rate. 27 year old making that kind of money wasn’t going to cut it. So I took a risk moved to another state and the first job I applied to I got hired l. 6 years later I’m making 80k and said thank god I didn’t show up to work that first day at GameStop lol
lukcy for me the manager of the gamestop near by has been knowing me for 10 years now, so to me it still feels like the old game stop ways, but i do get what you mean tho
Thanks for the video - Working at Walmart & Game Stop did you guys (or the stores) have any direct relations with the vendors? What were those like? Any vendors you enjoyed/did not enjoy working with?
Ik people hate gamestop but it’s not that bad. If it’s a rainy day and I want a new game do I want to wait 5 days for it to be shipped by amazon? No, I would rather go to GameStop, probably pay more and get the game I want that day. And I even like at trade values and I can get like $95 trade value for all of my 360 stuff. And like Fanta said if your a regular there not gonna try to push the power rewards card on you a lot. And I don’t have a bestbuy near me so like I said if I’m looking for a game quick I’m probably going to my GameStop. But if it’s cheaper like on eBay and I can wait then I’ll get it online. So to sum this up yes I’ll shop at GameStop and there not the best or not the worst.
Hey man, thanks for giving some perspective for GameStop! I start today at 5pm lol it's gonna be my first job day and I'll admit I'm slightly nervous but I think I'll be alright!
JovannyRepublic Went pretty well actually lol I'm still working there and got the ropes of how things work. The coworkers and manager are awesome so the company makes it worth staying!
My first day at my first job I was the only white teenager for like the first 3-5 weeks. Then another white Male teen was brought in. The following year I was 1 of 3 white teens there. These were 9-10 week summer jobs. I still have an interest in one of the stylish African American gals but she went to my high school so you can not really blame me. About a fourth or fifth of my coworkers teens went to my high school as well. I don't remember or know most of there names at the time. I did the dirty work "Trash duty". Que Justin Timberlake LOL. Dirty work somebody's gotta do it, It ain't no 9 to 5 unless somebody's got the dirty work
My funniest game stop moment when i first starting shopping @ game stop i remember the sales associate kept pushing games i didnt care for. I play nothing but open world games. Only time i go outside my open world gaming if a single campaign game has a really good storyline. This guy pushing sports & military stiff.......when I told him no thanks then he pushes kiddie type games.....im thinking if i didn't want the military or sport stuff with adult content....what makes you think i want a Mario Kart or Ratchet & Clank.....lol.
Richard Sanchez idk I think it’s different because when girls do that they aren’t questioning each other’s femininity. I assume guys do that because it’s “gay” to like a beer with a fuckin fruit flavor or something lmao
Peachy Kiwi yeah mainly it comes down to giving each other shit. like even at work the guys see me walk with my foreman holding a notepad and they talk shit about me kissing ass or trying to be a wannabe foreman. which is stupid but its just them giving me shit. youd be surprised though as far as ive experienced i dont see guys talk much shit about "fruity" beers or drinks. maybe cuz i work with a bunch of alcoholics so as long as it does the job its cool haha
Listen up Beerfags. There is no need to posture among yourselves for you are all equally pathetic before the liquor master race. Beer is over priced, too weak and generally makes you fat. You all equally suck
so i guess that`s what what happened to me when i renewed they must have default to digital. when i tried to fix this i went to a different store and the guy was kinda of an ass about it, especially when i asked his for a current copy of the magazine.
THANK YOU FOR CALLING GAMESTOP WHERE THE MORE YOU TRADE THE MORE YOU SAVE, WHERE WE HAVE THE SNES CLASSIC IN STOCK, WE'RE ALSO RUNNING A SPECIAL BUY 2 GET 1 FREE DEAL ON OUR PREOWNED PS3, XBOX 360, WII, AND WIIU GAMES. THIS IS STORE XXXX, XXXXXXXX SPEAKING, HOW CAN I HELP YOU????? Also, I got slammed with like 25-36 hours seasonal. Which I loved. The longer your day is, as a GA at least, the easier it is to get through.
@@simthegreatt it's actually not that bad. Pretty basic stuff. Not to mention you get to chat to customers about video games. Some people are pissy but that a given. The onboarding and training is long and annoying and you may not actually learn anything from it but once that's done it's smooth sailing.
Hahaha I know the people working at the GameStops I go to. I always laugh at them when they answer the phone. They tell me to shut up. LoL. They can't stand those stupid long greeting messages. GameStop needs to stop those dumb messages.
