I don’t think this is as weird as you guys think. I mean, sure, it’s weird. But the guy was probably sitting around thinking about his “assets” and remembered he had some store credit out there. It’s weird, but that’s what being poor isn’t like. 15 dollars is a ton of money when you have no dollars.

Daniel Salazar I don’t blame Ian. It IS bizarre and funny. I just don’t think it’s that hard to understand the guys thinking. While I’ve never been to prison, I’ve definitely been in financial situations where you are trying to figure out where you can scrape together a few dollars to make something happen. It’s much more fun to have money in the bank. Having been on both sides, I recommend this one.
@Agamemnon2
@Agamemnon2 5 лет назад
Yeah, it's relatable on both sides. I'm guessing "Bert" had been cut off from whatever support and family he had left on the outside, and figured that a long shot was worth taking since I presume 15 dollars' worth of snacks might be useful or at least comforting while serving his sentence. It's still a totally absurd situation for Ian, of course.

9:16 When I was a kid in the early 90's my siblings and I were stuck on the game Hugo: House of Horrors on MS DOS with a floppy disk and a troll asked 3 questions. The third question was something like "Who is the protagonist in The Hobbit?" and we straight up called our local library and asked them. And they knew and we were able to beat the game. But we at least checked our encyclopedia before calling. One of the other questions you had to answer was "What was Roy Rogers' dog named?" and the friend that was with us had recently gone to a Roy Rogers museum and knew the answer.

Maybe he was confused at about store policy? Stores usually ask "cash or credit" maybe he thought Luna would convert? Surely there are stores out there that might do that idk? Enjoying a marathon of tales from the game store, I like the episode the analogy of a customer is like a barito, not the customer is allways right it's a great analogy. I remember once in a shop I worked, some guy came in a bit pasty you know that I'm after a sale of something he's a little proactive in a sort of hyper chatty very confident and out-going in character, he stated to me "I've been this shop", this shop it's big in the uk on seconds sales not stating the store, I knew nah they didn't offer that on that item, so any way we chunter to each other him wanting desperate rapid cash clearly, next thing you know he places pressure on me to buy it on behalf of the owner who's out on a call out, he says go on ah go on mate just call call him for me please, so I did the owner said a price say 5 gbp below this other uk store said according to this fella,I'd only just placed the phone back on the hook and told him his offer now at this point out comes a deck of cards from this guys side pocket and I'm thinking wtf lol, I smile somewaht confused and bemused , he goes on to say "right I'll bet you I predict your card he says bet you 10 gbp more on the owners offer if I guess the card you pick out I said it's not my store mate so unfortunately I simply can't do it I do not have say on the payments or pricing of any product or buy ins, he then goes pick a card, so me I'm highly reluctant he's pressuring me going go on pick one mate, me I'm thinking no he's going to say it's 10gbp more if he guesses it although I said no it's a double trick a card trick and extortion of an extra 10gbp in the process trick lmfao, so calmly nicely and reluctantly I say oh ok then I'm laughing he smiles I pick the card he says put it back yeah yeah, we both smile he laughs I laugh again, he then proceeds to shuffle the card at a maniacal speed he never looksat any of them he keeps looking at me with this joke like grin as aI laugh half amazed how fast he shuffles without looking even at the deck at all as he just grins. Then he pulls a random card and says showing it me it's this one yeah, I say: no lol he then says as he rapid shuffles grinning and yanks a card out randomly; its this one then yeah again I say no lol he laughs to andsays ah alright, any way we chat computer buy in we strike the deal as owner stated, he turns to leave another customer had watched all this , the seller goes half way towards the door to leave turns back to us says hang on proceeds to pull the deck back out of his trouser pocket violent super fast eyes fixed on us not the deck shuffles them all wildly he then splits the deck eyes on us randomly yanks a card out that split deck and walks up whacks a card ddown on the counter and he goes it's the 8 of diamonds isn't it? Turns the card over then and it was my card the 8 of diamonds it was amazing funny and a unique event, we all laughed all 3 of us, he shook my hand and went on his way that trick was f"%*ng amazing , not some cheap style it was the speed fluidity and the way he didn't sort of shuffle em looking for a dog ear or a mark it was really professional, it was a great day fun different and we all got something to taqke away from it, of all the people I'd have expected less of him initially based on character and pasty behaviour, but he was sound as a pound and ended up making a mediocore day into a great one, had some other things in various old jobs I've seen couple of them, the manager of a supermarket shook my hand as aposed to fire me once for telling some guy a drunk verbally abusing a younger female staff memebr to @woah mate FU%$ OFF! in front of everyone he swore at her got in her face and frightened her I stepped in he turned tried the same with wtf you gunna do?@ and I calmy started then shouted loud as hell the swearing part he froze and went "alright mate sorry" turned to the girl and went " yeah sorry love had a few too many" And he had been regular but never came back in when I was there again or harrassed the young lady again.So yeah you try to be nice understanding fair and accepting even bend to pittying a person and help them seen some people hand out to those3 you know are genuine and their story hits you desperate but not demanding and they deserve that help, but man you do get those customers some nice then horrible, some horrible you help em calm the mood they end up being good customers and friends to an extent, it's 50/50 how it goes down you can't judge a customer first bite of that barito like that analogy , you never want to feel like they walk away scorned or soured or upset even when they are rude or ranting even, I hate that I haven't had a situation anyone goes away with that negative side still ever, but come close to walk aways, my biggest mistake is the over detailed explaining something a person doesn't know like I do to an intimate extent, eg. specs of computer and or android and or mac hardware, or software, or the fault finding analogies I give to try my best to layman for them, I have a learning issue not to go in depth that if it's interesting to me eg. computers diag repair building or software alternate os's you know linux flavors etc, or rpi modding and android reflashes software repairs and or customization like custom rom and recovery flashing or diagnosing badly flashed wrongly flashed devices, and then explaining it none detailed keep it simple stupid terminology goes out the window, I get excited about it as it's my interests I then relay it too detailed, I'm a hacker of sorts all legal hacking only so you know hardware and software modding to the hilt, even done shimming and coooling mods for ouya android micro consoles rpis etc etc, even done console modding private personal only that's yeah frownable but not going to land you in court, I don't take the p@ss with it, or anything like it, it just interests me, I am adept to it all, I can strip a board and put a new one in anything I can dismantle like laptops/desktops/consoles, I do shy away from phones and tablet hardware repairs, I'm a technician, but to the subject yeah customers are like a barito lol, and you aim for every single customer to pass word of mouth and great feedback about the place you operate, you never like a disgruntled customer. Frienly and never say no allways bend a bit to the mood tand the customers requirements to the point it's profitable, returns I'd say just hand it cash back no face pulling about it, keep em happy keep feedback positive as word travels digitaly viraly if they want to f%*ck you up it's easy done.

15 dollars in "STORE CREDIT" means that you have 15 dollars of STORE CREDIT, You can't walk in to the store and say, I have 15 dollars of store credit, so hand me 15 dollars cash. Asking the store to convert his 15 dollars of store credit to Prison commissary is NOT how that works. IF a guy goes in and says hey I would like to sell this copy of Metroid and Luna says OK I can pay you 8 dollars in cash or give you 15 dollars store credit, IF you take store credit because it is 15 dollars instead of 8 cash, then you have store credit. NOW if you really wanted to be a nice guy you could say, OK but 15 dollars amounts to 8 dollars cash I can put that on your prison commissary BUT guess what, it costs money to add money on someones account (I have never been top prison BTW) but I know people who have been in jail and who have been in prison and prisons charge a fee to transfer money to a persons account, SO they would probably charge 5 dollars to put money on that guys account so that 8 dollars would end up being 3 dollars the guy in prison would get. NOW you have to take into account the time it would take to look up and log into a states prisons system and fill out the info and then you have to use a credit/debit card to transfer the money, etc etc, Are you going to do that for some stranger in prison? Who's credit/debit card you going to use? Your own? Really?,,,,,,REALLY?
@HoudiniFontmeister
@HoudiniFontmeister 4 года назад
@@tbirum The fees are really bullshit. The fact that it costs money to add money and to call you have to put money on another account is all bullshit. That is all because it's all ran by private industry. They make money off of both the tax payers and the prisoners families. It's sick as fuck.

Ramen requires a little bit of warm water from the sink they give you that comes out super slowly. You cover it and wait like 5 minutes and then you chow down. If you bought a bowl with your commissary then you use it. If not then you are literally using the bag and twisting the top til it's ready. 15$ could get you like 20 bags of noodles. I'll just say this. No calls outs or rage just my exp. I was placed in a nursing home home in 2015 to learn how to walk again after a bout of flesh eating diseases. I couldn't leave, I had few visitors (my parents lived 100km away so I saw them once in a while) and it was do what the nurses say or they would throw me to the street. Yeah not prison but I think I got a taste of what prisons like. I was 37 years old and everyone else was in their 60s or older so I had no one to talk to and I craved anything from the outside world. If it wasn't for my parents giving me some money once in a while so I could go to the staff cafeteria for something simple like chocolate milk, a pop of some junk food....hell just some time away from everyone and to sit and enjoy something. It would make my day. Make fun of that guy all you want but until your in a place like that you have no idea what it's like to have that simple piece of the outside world. It lets you feel normal for a while. If that's all he had and there was no one there for him I can see why he took that long shot chance. When your forced to live in an institution the days are long and the food is awful. It seems ok at first but when some penny pincher is in charge of what you get to eat well lets just say on the third night in a row when they decide that everyone needs a treat and they serve pancakes and syrup to for super or they put spaghetti sauce and cheese on a bun and call it PIZZA NIGHT!.....you might flip out.

The prison letter is more sad than funny. It is odd enough that it's kind of amusing but I wasn't cracking up about it. Heck, if the credit is legit why not give him the $15?

i was in county for 28 days they made their ramen with the luke warm water from the sink in their cells. Fucking gross. I got busted for trespassing and hopping freight trains in Atlanta GA. Don't ever get arrested in Clayton county GA. That jail sucks ass.

The dumbest thing about that is money sent to prisoners can be ABSURDLY scalped by the systems that offer those services. you have to send like $100 just to get $60-$75 through I think. I can understand being hard on the prisoners but, taking advantage of their families too is just fuckin BS.

I have been in prison. You can get a lot of food items on commissary, hygiene items too. Surprisingly 15 bucks goes a long way. Soups are about 24 cents. In prison the meals are really small and gross and commissary is one of the few ways you can make life a little less hellish. Ian if you know what he did and it was non violent you should help him out. And no there are no coffee makers, there is a hot pot that dispenses almost boiling water to cook with, usually in plastic trash bags. If you're in minimum security you might have a dorm microwave.

Depends on the prison, but they usually have communal microwaves... at least lower level prisons like a level 1 or 2... maybe 3. I learn a lot of this shit on AfterPrisonShow lol. Never actually been myself. I'm too boring for that shit.
