Welcome to the 'hood of horrors!
It's a place where your worst fears can come to life. A place where it's hard to tell nightmares from reality. A place where you will discover Tales From The Hood.
Stack, Ball and Bulldog arrive at a local funeral parlor to retrieve a lost drug stash held by the mortician Mr. Simms (Clarence Williams III). But Mr. Simms has plans for the boys. He leads them on a tour of his establishment, introducing them to his corpses. Even the dead have tales to tell and Mr. Simms is willing to tell them all. And you better listen - because when you're in the 'hood, even everyday life can lead to extraordinary terror.

This movie was a lot better than people realize. It was initially panned for not being "gangsta'" enough but that was never the point. It was supposed to deconstruct what happens when you're "gangsta'".

That's so cool that Darin Scott (Menace II Society ) and Spike Lee (Crooklyn) teamed up to produce this movie. I hope someone finds and posts interviews of both those guys talking about the making of this movie. That would be really exciting. It would also be interesting to hear of the different actors they had auditioned for the various roles before settling on who they ended up with (like if Morgan Freeman had auditioned for the mortician role prior to Clarence Williams getting it or if David Alan Grier as the abusive boyfriend had been auditioned for previously by Wesley Snipes or if the racist politician role had been auditioned for by Jon Voight). It would be really interesting to hear that behind the scenes story since it just gets you thinking of the different actors that could have been cast and how that would have changed how the characters in the film were portrayed as far as the different actors bringing their unique emotional skills to the camera.

This movie is AMAZING. If you love Creepshow, Tales from the Crypt, the Twilight Zone movie, and other ensemble horror films and shows, this one is definitely for you. There are some goofy parts (just like with all of the movies I just mentioned) but it also tackles some of the "darkest" (no pun intended) real-life themes yet for any such movie, comparable only to the racist scene from the Twilight Zone film (or the Tales from the Crypt EC comics themselves). Great casting, too.

+Jerra Maurice He was a fantastic trailer/commercial narrator in the 70s 80s and 90s! i grew up with his voice in trailers/TV spots since i was a kid seeing Critical Condition in theaters as a kid hearing some trailers with his voice in it like Creepshow 2 trailer and hearing his voice at the Crash Test Dummy commercials at the end "you can learn alot from a dummy buck;le your safety belt"

@@Collageman90 Yup, another one of my fave anthologies for 27 years since i was 11! and i still remember in the 80s and 90s as a kid and teen hearing his voice on trailers in theaters/VHS previews, TV spots, commercials and radio spots. His voice was unforgettable to anyone who grew up in the 80s and 90s like Hal Douglas, Don Lafontaine and more.

1994/1995 might've been the last best year for practical effects films... In The Mouth of Madness Tales From The Crypt: Demon Knight Tales From The Hood New Nightmare Cemetery Man The Crow I would love to see Scream Factory release a collector's edition of The Crow!

It felt like people thought of get out as the first black horror but for me this was the first black horror movie, I wouldn't be surprised if there was anything older but it definitely stood out and way more now because of the subjects of each tale

the best way to describe this movie is a prickly rough skinned clawed hand grabbing you by the back of your neck and squeezing you mercilessly, the grip gets somehow inexplicably tighter every second that goes by. the ending of this movie is when the second hand (that you totally forgot about ) grabs you by your throat and cuts off your air supply.

😮 Oh shyt! I just saw this movie for the first time yesterday after seeing this trailer! This movie was GOOD! So the whole time them dudes was dead!? Wooow! Genius mystery! I assumed that old man would be a FBI or something setting them up, but he was the devil all along!!! Then, the whole time it was them 3 dudes who killed Crazy Kane. Daaamn! This movie also had messages in it for our black people I see. GENIUS! PURE GENIUS!!!!!!!!

Even with the same creators, I enjoyed both movies and took them as individual stories. I think some viewers expect too much regarding sequels and remakes- although a few have fallen miserably flat for me, but with horror I'm pretty hard to completely disappoint.) Waiting 20 + years to make a sequel though can be a risky endeavor, depending on viewers and script. When the original creators return for the next chapter or reboot, there's a better chance for it being good. I will say Tales from the Hood2 was a lot more campy and goofy, but still good depending on personal taste. Check it out for yourself though, don't take my word, and don't judge the sequel by the trailer.

"Tales From The Hood" is a pretty good (1995) Official Trailer Horror Anthology Movie. I have this on DVD. It's pretty creepy, cheesy, campy, corny, violent & has lots of twists & turns. It's a good movie to watch. I love the voice over for the trailer. It's got a good twist ending. R.I.P. (Clarence Williams III).....SSSSSSS..
