To me it looks like gloomhaven light. Kinda the same gameplay but without the 30 minutes of setup. Do the character also evolve/ level up during the campaign? My group really loved gloomhaven but we kinda quit because nobody wants to figure where we left off and just the idea of doing the set up is what's putting us off on finishing that campaign. This game seems like a good alternative. Would I be right in thinking that?

In my opinion it's better than Gloomhaven. Characters gain new Powers every five scenarios (each of which is one Chapter of the campaign) as well as progression on a simple Skill Tree that gives Power tokens you can spend for bonuses during combat. Setup is very quick, the story is quite good, combat is reasonably fast and the enemy A.I. is simpler but still varied. Also, nearly all the scenarios have unique objectives and aren't just "Kill all the monsters", I'd say more but it would be a spoiler. I think your gaming group would LOVE Tales from the Red Dragon Inn.

@@ObsidianKnight90 I have actually bought this game since and played about 9 scenario's 2 handed solo! It's really good. Removes a lot off the hassle gloomhaven has but with similar gameplay elements. Having a great time so far. And indeed all 9 scenario's have felt very different.
