Bariss is back, Thrawn is back, Grievous looking scarier than last time, and Vader always finishing strong. Dave never cease to amaze me

I saw a theory of Barriss' final test being to capture & kill Luminara, and I low-key love it

I love how this grievous has a similar aura of terror as the 2003 version.

2:01 we literally see the Massacre of the Nightsisters in The Clone Wars, in the arc Dooku tries to kill Ventress.

4:58 quick correction here, Thrawn is made Grand Admiral at the end of the first novel. So this would happen somewhere in between the events of the first novel. More precisely, in the first novel, there is a big part in the middle where there are many jumps in time. Basically a lot of the chapters near the middle of the book are just about Thrawn accumulating victories and climbing the ladder within the Empire's military. Notable moments are the Cyphar dispute, the neutralization of Higher Skies, the defense of Lansend Twenty-Six and then the pacification of Botajef where he fights off an uprising. It is following his sucess on Botajef that he gets promoted to the rank of Admiral. Then another short time gap and we have the whole crisis and siege on Batonn which concludes the story with Nightswan and ends the novel, with Thrawn getting promoted to Grand Admiral. This means that the episode where he meet Morgan Elzbeth is situated somewhere between the Botajef pacification and the siege of Batonn.

There's no way they can retcon the 7th sister being Bariss. Dave has only retconned things that are written about off-screen in comics/books- he has not retconned anything shown 'on screen' on his shows- only other people's work. 7th sister faced Ashoka 2-3 times in Rebels with no mention about being Bariss. Bariss/7th sister also have completely different bodies, faces, tattoos, mannerisms, fight styles, and voices (7th sister is voiced by Sarah Michelle Geller). Bariss was also a much better fighter than 7th sister being a Jedi knight during TCW. The creators of Rebels confirmed they are 2 separate characters many years ago when there was fan speculation they were the same person. Keep in mind that 7th sister was active as an inquisitor during Rebels which is 15 years after TCW. This series is directly following order 66 as it shows Bariss still in jail. I honestly believe Vader will kill her knowing what she did to Ashoka which would explain her absence in all the following stories that involve inquisitors thus far. (similar to how he killed all the Tuskens who were responsible for his mother's death). This series will put an end to her story that has left TCW fans hanging for a decade now. Also side note- GI was confirmed to be one of the prison guards escorting Bariss to her trial. I have a feeling they will touch on that in this series. Lastly- GI and Thrawn look 10x better than Rebels/live action shows in this TCW type of animation. 10/10

I was kind of hoping for a "Tales of the Sith" which would focus on Ventress & Maul and also incorporated their scrapped Clone Wars arcs (Dark Disciples & Son of Dathomir), as well as explain how Ventress survived "Tales of the Bounty Hunters" could be another possibility; with half of the shorts focusing on Ventress & the other half focusing on Boba Fett (again incorporating his scrapped Clone Wars arc) Despite this, I'm still looking forward to "Tales of the Empire" and its' focus on Barriss & Morgan

This trailer got me really excited we really needed a series showing the imperial side, especially with such incredible characters like thrawn ,morgan ,and barris this is going to be great.

Personally, I really hope to see some form of confrontation between Anakin/Vader and Bariss Offee. I hope that the framing of Vader's former padawan is brought up between the two and could potentially see the killing of Bariss - explaining why she isn't seen in ABY films and series.

Firstly Barriss was a Jedi Knight not a Padawan, people forget this because of her friendship with Ahsoka. And I would hate Barriss being the Seventh Sister, it never made sense during Rebels and it also makes no sense now.

I haven't been as hyped by a Star Wars trailer in a while, particularly due to Barriss's story getting a resolution. Her being an Inquisitor (Seventh or not) is the absolute right way to go.

We haven’t even seen Luminara’s death either. We’ve only seen he remains in “Rebels”. Maybe they will have Bariss kill her.

I really hope that this show opens the door to more dark side action. As much as I love seeing the bad guys lose and the good guys win, I would LOVE to see more dark side shows. My #1 pick being a Vader show where we see him: building his lightsaber, destroying padme’s ship, building his castle, taking down Jedi early on, etc. Seeing Vader in Obi Wan choke slide a person and snap someone neck with the snap of his finger has given an unbelievable itch to see more!

The one jedi in the one shot seems to be Luminara Unduli, it would be crazy seeing her fight her former Padawan

Nothing big, but I would refer to them as Imperial Inquisitors. A Sith Inquisitor is a verrrry different thing.

8:13, While blood in Star Wars isn’t new, seeing a character bleed is rare for the franchise, much less in animation besides The Bad Batch recently drawing explicit focus on blood samples in vials and Dooku donating a drop of blood to an alter Sidious used for a ritual to project illusions into Yoda’s mind (exploiting Dooku’s connection with him to do so). 9:14, Morgan’s scythes are infused with Dathomirian ichor, the green substance responsible for the Nightsisters’ mystical abilities beyond the standard psychic abilities of normal Force-sensitives.

@ScreenCrush - Ryan, those people you see on Corvus in Morgan's garden ARE New Republic officials. The Uniforms are identical and the time frame fits better. My guess is that Morgan's Story will go up nearly to the events of Mando S2

Animated Star Wars is killing it.

Honestly, I don't think the Grievous attack we see in Tales of the Empire is from "Son of Dathomir". I think it's more like additional scenes from the season 4 Clone Wars episode "Massacre". I've seen a number of people making this assumption about "Son of Dathomir", but the main focus of that story was the final end of Mother Talzin, by which time, there were few Nightsisters left. Additionally, Dave Filoni has already stated that the Seventh Sister is not Bariss Offee.

Star Wars should just be all animation. They keep killing it! Can’t wait!

Really excited for this. There are two things I think you missed. I think the 2nd inquisitor was the guy from Malachor. And the shields are ray shields like Obi Wan dealt with in the box when he was a bounty hunter.

I don't think Morgan and Barris being in one show is coincidence, they both have one thing in common... Ahsoka, Morgan (spoiler alert) is already dead so does that mean that Barris is the next antagonist of Ahsoka

I honestly love Barriss and am so excited that she's finally returned after 10 long years, but personally I would've wished for some form of Jedi redemption for the character, instead of her embracing the dark side. Hopefully Dave Filoni eventually drags her back to a brighter light.

If Barris is the 7th sister she was so weak when she and Ashoka meet in the rebels. But she was strong in the clone wars!

Honestly hope that Barriss doesn't become a full inquisitor. Her initial motives for turning 'dark' were well-reasoned-- she could tell the Jedi were moving away from peace and becoming pawns, all focused on propaganda politics war rather than meaningful change. Her bombing the temple was not good ofc, but it was behavior modeled after being raised in war for so, so long. Violence was the ONLY thing anyone listened to. Which is another tragedy for Barriss, because she had a healer specialty with her Force powers yet this unique, kind ability never attracted enough attention to make a change on its own. Making her a full inqusitor would just have her fall into another trope of "she was violent all along!! you can't express doubt without being EVIL!". Which is lazy and a disservice to her. I'd love it if she manages to get out of the inqusition, apologize to Ahsoka, and reintroduce the idea of healing to others. And she gets her damn headscarf back!!! It'd be great character design symbolism.

I don't think Barriss is the Seventh Sister. If anything they might be getting us ready for a rematch between her & Ahsoka in Season 2 or the film Dave Filoni is doing.

Morgan’s story may be when Darth Maul went back to Dathomir post Night sister massacre when mother Talzin dies. Maul had the night brothers and mandalorians then too

So about the Mountain Clan Matron subtitle. In Clone Wars, Tales of Light and Dark. Has a story about the Grievous and Dooku's attack on the Nightsisters. It is explained that the Nightsisters are just one Clan out many.

The part about the Son of Dathomir comic series is wrong. That tells the story of Maul trying to kill Sidious after escaping his capture at the end of season 5 of The Clone Wars. Grievous is there on Dathomir, but this all occurs after the Great Massacre of the Nightsisters. The shots of Grievous in this trailer are from that event, with Morgan Elsbeth being one of the very few nightsisters to survive along with Ventress (The Clone Wars) and Merrin (Jedi: Fallen Order).

I love stories about neutral characters. Makes things more interesting of what is going on in the background of the main story

Surprised that Vader does not just kill Offee immediately as a lot of his pain was really caused by her actions. Maybe this will be addressed.

The comment that darkness existed in Barriss all along seems to mirror the smug hubris of the Jedi. Opposing the viewpoint and downward progression of an organization doesn't equate with the concept of darkness most commonly used in the property. Barriss' journey toward the Sith seems more likely the result of the restrictive culture of the Jedi and their own path from peacekeepers and negotiators to military personnel, as well as a failure to identify her confusion and conflict, and then take appropriate steps to support her.

Vader will definitely will remember Bariss and what she did to Ahsoka! She's going to be put through the ringer!

I get the comparison of the red circle to the moment in TPM, BUT I think the better and more accurate comparison is the moment Ahsoka is training in Tales of the Jedi in season 1

7:32 the scene of Morgan and the next scene of a flame thrower is for Corvus. If you remember, when Mando arrives there it was a foggy forest of dead and burned trees. It seems that she besieged that planet or city.

I loved Tales Of The Jedi and will love this, mainly because I always pick up audio books and think "That's a cool idea" but rarely are the stories interesting enough to keep me for a 10-hour listen" These short stories are just right as they don't flesh out the core stories with stuff that I'm rarely interested in.

“Retcon” is incorrect. The idea is that these are stories, not reality. It builds off the idea that Star Wars happened in the past, and we are basically hearing legends of what happened. So it’s not that there’s a retcon, it’s that we are getting a different perspective. The truth is likely in the middle.

Actually thrawn was promoted to grand admiral at the end of the first book, so this would take place during the first part of the trilogy, not in between the novels.

Super excited for this show, Tales of the Jedi was SO FREAKING GOOD.
