Those Dooku episodes were some of the best animated Star Wars we have gotten. The Sith Lord is instantly one of my favorite pieces of Star Wars content

I thought it could have been interesting, but it was way too rushed, and the themes and dialogue were way too overt. Everyone just spelled out how they felt, and Dooku was just like, “Okay.” There were some good moments, but they didn’t really give it time to breath

@@thedapperdolphin1590 they used the tell don't show because it's a show with a younger target demographic. Kids won't be able to pick up on subtle messages. Like, for example, we were shown Ahsoka training against clones and any older fan knows the point of being shown that is to show that that ultimately saved her life during Order 66, but kids need to be shown it or else they won't pick up on it. Same with Dooku leaving because of corruption in the senate and the Jedi playing into the hands of it all, it has to be said so the younger audience understands, but it was still done organically and does not take away from the episodes whatsoever. Meanwhile, I am loving Andor, though, and its catering to an older audience

i Think that scene with Dooku and Yaddle is more symbolic then what you mentioned. when yaddle opened the Door, the Light shone through and it made Sidious recoil in disgust, but Dooku was unphased as he was still redeemable, but when it finally closed for good as yaddle collapsed, Dooku is left in Darkness, one of his own doing, as he was the one who closed the door on Yaddle. in that moment, the light faded from Dooku as he embraced the Dark finishing her off.
@JainaSoloB312
@JainaSoloB312 Год назад
Yes! This exactly, Dooku doesn't recoil from the Light, but when it goes out he embraces the Dark, because that's he feels that's all there is. Which brings to mind Vader's words "No. This is all there is." when rejecting redemption and corrupting his kyber crystal.

The episode with Dooku & Mace was glorious because it proved that the Jedi council became a warped reflection of the Galactic Senate. Remember that in the Phantom Menace Padmé had unequivocal proof that the Trade Federation had invaded her planet but instead of actually taking any action, the Senate instead wanted to create a fact finding committee because no Senator wanted to jeopardize their political career. Mace saw the same chicanery Dooku saw and yet wanted to simply pass word back to the council because he didn't want to risk his chair. As George once said, _"it's like poetry, it rhymes."_

I do like that Clone Wars depiction of Mace but tbf I could never imagine the movie-version of Mace being so subdued and submissive to the Council's bidding and rules. I mean he was first played by Samuel L Jackson and in those movies he was nothing like the Mace from the Clone Wars. I don't mind, but he's definitely a lot less badass than from the movies/2003 cartoon. It is interesting though how he just lets Dooku disobey the rules so he can get the chair position and then just mock his behaviour.

these shorts do not contradict Dooku Jedi Lost, Dooku Jedi Lost said that Dooku would continue to visit the order even after he stepped down from his position as a Jedi, and likewise Jedi within the temple would still continue to call Dooku “master” even though he was no longer a Jedi, so him being at the temple during the phantom menace and then being called master wasn’t a retcon for Dooku Jedi Lost

@TheRealCodeBlack
@TheRealCodeBlack Год назад
I think in the end we see that the Jedi aren't corrupt, but badly complacent. Dooku accuses them of taking orders from the senate, but that's untrue: even in his stories every single tale has other Jedi besides himself see the plight the galaxy is going through and immediately agree with him that something must be done against the Senate (even Mace's response is "we need to do something, but we have to do it by the book," while Dooku just goes Dirty Harry). His conclusion that the Jedi are under the senate's thumb is misplaced. The truth is that the Jedi simply don't bother to understand the galaxy enough to actually know these things are happening in the first place - they cautiously sit on their laurels, rarely investigate problems, and act behind their excuse that they "don't' do politics" and thus don't actually engage, so instead they get taken by surprise whenever something horrible is dropped into their lap. Their oath to protect the people becomes useless because they don't know the people any more. The Jedi *would* go to bat for the common people against the Senate if they were aware of what's going on, but they're too distant from the rest of the galaxy to even become aware of these injustices most of the time, so they do nothing and the rest of the galaxy sees them as complicit rather than more truthfully ignorant to the problem (that the Jedi aren't aware that the rest of the galaxy has a poor opinion of them is a thing in The Clone Wars as well).
@calmxi
@calmxi Год назад
@@TheRealCodeBlack the Jedi are not all powerful, they are not in control of the galaxy. @daveyjoneslocker4703
@daveyjoneslocker4703 Год назад
Did this series depict the Jedi order as corrupt? If anything it shows the very opposite. Mace is true to protocols and rules to a fault, and that is the flaw in the Jedi order and that is the opposite of corruption. Even higher up in the ranks of the Jedi, we see Yaddle our representatives of the council on this series is anything but corrupt and possesses the true spirit of a Jedi. She is forgiving, courageous, selfless and gentle. The problem with the Jedi order is not corruption, but dogma.

Organa would have to take a moment to remember what the hell they're talking about, and then decide if he wants to help one of the early oppressors or not. And yes, I think he would end up helping. Her second episode showed how, although Anakin was her friend, bluntly forced rigorous training to "battle harden" her. And her last looked similar to the book and it was cool to see the inquisitor. The Dooku arc makes me really want to read some of the EU stuff and appreciate his character so much more.

Love the way Ahsoka passed the defense simulation like the Jedi before her, but she gets taken out easily by the clones reflects how well train the clones are when taking down a Jedi during Order 66. And reflects how Padawan or Knights aren't strong enough to survive the attack. Ahsoka had the first-hand experience of dealing with clones but she was almost killed by the clones during Order 66 until Rex saved her.

I only have 2 complaints with this mini series. The fist is that I wish that Yaddle spoke similarly to how Yoda speaks, just to connect those two together more as being the same species. My only other complaint is that Obi-wan had already cut his hair short and was no linger sporting the mullet by the time Asoka was assigned as Aniken’s apprentice, so it made no sense for him to have the mullet again when he is watching her train against remote droids. Throughout the entire Cone Wars show, we never saw Obi-wan grow out his mullet again, he just kept the short hair.

I found it really intriguing that Qui Gon doesn't mention Anakin to Dooku. One would think that given their mutual interest in the prophecies, I think its telling that Qui Gon doesn't talk to his old master about the kid he thinks is the Chosen One suggests that maybe he already suspected Dooku had fallen to the Dark Side. Maybe Dooku tried to reach out to him after Averroes turned him down? I'd really like to see this explored more in something else.

The stuff we've been getting lately about Dooku has me questioning this line in EP 2 while Obi-Wan is captured talking about qui-gon. "i sure could use his help right now." "he would never join you." Would Qui-Gon have? Would he have left but maybe not fallen as deep in it as Dooku did? Could he have prevented his downfall? Would love to see something like this done with Caleb / Kanan.

Yeah, I was actually disappointed with Alex and Mollie’s comments about the Ahsoka episodes because they seemed so dismissive. They are, of course, welcome to their opinions, as are we all. But statements akin to “I didn’t need X” open the door for the purveyors of… let’s just call it bad faith arguments.

All of the great arcs for Ahsoka and Dooku aside, I am still full of respect for that senator's son, who sympathized with the plight of his people. I would not say his was an instance of Stockholm's Syndrome; he was man enough to admit to himself where the problem lay.

I know the Ahsoka short doesn’t necessarily retcon the Ahsoka novel, but it still makes the timeline weird. So she went to a farming planet, fought and defeated an inquisitor unarmed, was recruited by Bail Organa, then went to another farming planet and fought another inquisitor unarmed and took his lightsaber crystals for herself and got recruited by Bail Organa again. It’s just odd.

You know, after pointing out the thematic parallels, I could see a good "what if" story there when Dooku could hypothetically track down Ahsoka in the small frame between her leaving the Order, and Ep 3 and tried to use their similar views of the Jedi to tempt her to the Dark Side. That could have been an interesting conversation.

I kept wanting Yaddle to get away some how. It horrifying how you think she’ll somehow make it but even if she somehow got past Dooku Sidious would’ve killed her in an instant. It’s almost like the creators showing us even when the Jedi got right next to the truth it was already too late for them to save themselves or the Republic. Star Wars is a true masterpiece of telling the story of tragedy

Thank you for the review! I would like to speak as someone who generally does not watch the animated work that my brother and I also enjoyed the Dooku shorts more. We didn't dislike the Asoka shorts, but just from the context of the movies, they hit deeper. We had to guess about the 2nd Asoka short being order 66, but thanks to you I was able to make that guess and share it with my brother, which I thank you. All the reviews you give also educate those of us who may only watch the live action, and not the animated work or read the books or play the games. They are very much appreciated and help enrich my viewing experience. Again, thank you for those videos and this review.

Personal opinion in episode 5, BUT the characters that were in that episode was what made me enjoy it as well as the timelapse. Kanan Jarrus and his master was there seeing Ahoska. Rex and jesse with possibly other clone troopers we might know were there. Then the timelapse of the clones Phase 1 to Phase 2 armor and Ahsoka evolving as a whole, reminding us what we been through with the show.

These shorts remind me of the old days where we would get stories set in between the major ones, and add more personal time with the characters. Knowing Ahsoka visited Padme's funeral, Dooku's last day as a Jedi, it just feels so good to have these smaller stories happen. I hope this will get a season two. We could explore different Jedi from different eras as well. Maybe give us Luke meeting Snoke for the first time, or have Finn meet Jedi spirits. That would be awesome in this animation style.

I’m sure that some people will get upset over Yaddle speaking normally rather than backwards like Yoda. But far I know that can be Yoda only thing rather than a quirk of his species. Because the ones we saw in the Old Republic era were also speaking in a normal way, unlike Yoda.

I really enjoyed these shorts... not many problems with it but I think that the first ep was very weak and cliche, especially compared to the Dooku stuff which I adored. The first 2 Dooku episodes were great but I personally would've preferred they were a bit more different. Its basically the same thing in a different skin. The Sith Lord is obviously the best episode. I really liked the 2nd Ahsoka episode, mainly due to the ending plus a montage is always welcomed. Its simple but very effective. I was a huge mess. Lol. The last Ahsoka one was decent too but again kinda cliche. Stunning visuals and great score as always and I find it funny how they used Grogu sound effects for baby Ahsoka. Overall 8.5/10
