You're so right, I imagine that the kinds of people interested in playing a cozy hobbit-themed simulation game made for modern hardware would be WAY more satisfied with a port of a few movie tie-in beat-'em-up games that were last seen on the PS2 and GameCube. I'm guessing this is what my problem is; all I've seen is this trailer and I just watched it for the first time. A link to this was shared with me out of the blue and in watching it, I don't see anything wrong with it. My first impression was that I hope it has lots of housing customizations, clothes, and designs and things. Then I read the comments and see everything about DEI and ESG and whatnot. Normally I can sniff those things out like a dog sniffs out bacon. I don't see any of that in this trailer. That tells me that I need to do some serious research on this game and developer, and it tells me that these studios are wising up and hiding the elements and influences that don't sell. This is why I'll never again preorder a game or buy it before I read gameplay reviews. I hate spoilers, but I hate wasting my money more.

​@BJGvideos Yeah, no medium in his time could fully capture The Hobbit or The Lord of the Rings, so we have no idea if his perspective would change on bringing the story via non-book mediums. I'd imagine past that hurtle, he'd be fine with childlike games for The Hobbit and more war oriented games for The Lord of the Rings, since he intentionally changed his writing style to children storyteller when writing The Hobbit, since he was writing from Bilbo's quirky perspective, while he switched to College Professor writing for Lord of the Rings for Frodo, who is far more composed in personality compared to Bilbo, with some war veteran personality traits as well.

@@Gathies Remind me, when Aragorn beheaded the unarmed messenger, was that in line with Tolkien directly stating that even the messengers of Sauron were protected by the rules of negotiation and diplomacy. Or is the game about how life in the country side is nice and friendly in line with Tolkien saying that life in the countryside was nice and friendly.
