Anyone else come back here just to pay respects before Tears of the Kingdom? For some reason I just can’t shake the feeling that Tears will be the end of something long and beautiful

It has been six years and this still sends shivers down my spine.

this trailer makes the game looks really good but when you actually play the game... you realize it's even better than the trailer

I loved my friend's reaction when he realized Great Plateau wasn't the whole map.

Reading thru the comments, makes me realize I am not the only one that wants to experience this game for the first time again. Here’s hoping the sequel will be able to continue that feeling after playing it. This game is just quite simply the precipice of what a game should be. Every person can play this game their own way. And that is where it’s greatness lies. It doesn’t hold your hand or tries to “subvert” your expectations. The creators know what we fans want. And. They deliver it in spades. I’m coming to tears just writing this. And. The best pet. I don’t feel the least bit embarrassed. Im a 48 year old man. Who grew up and lived thru the Atari age thinking. It can’t ever get better. Than. A little card company came along. And who could know. They would one day create the greatest game ever. In my humble opinion. I say the sequel does not have top it. Just continue it.

To this day this trailer gives me literal chills. I was so excited for BoTW to come out because of how different it was from the rest of the series. Makes me wish I could go back to 2017

This did not meet my expectations. ... *_It exceeded them._*

This game was truly worthy of the Game of the Year title. It has set the bar impossibly high for the sequel, but I believe the developers are capable of reaching that bar. I cannot wait until BOTW 2.

And now we have Tears of the Kingdom as well. Thank you Nintendo for the greatest gaming franchise of all time ❤

Possibly the most honest game trailer ever released. - Entirely in-engine, which is refreshing in a world where games are often shown off as entirely pre-rendered cutscenes designed to look as epic as possible with no semblance of gameplay whatsoever. - Contains almost an entire minute of just panning over wide landscapes while playing ambient sounds and the odd piano note, which is very much representative of the atmosphere of the final game. - Much of the trailer is spent just going over basic gameplay features that will end up being mundane mechanics you'll see for the entire game - eg. magnesis, stasis, cooking, the ability to climb anything, etc. - A huge portion of the footage is just from the great plateau. - Trailer is in 720p, which is actually a lower resolution than the final Switch version, which is what most people will end up playing. This is pretty much the opposite of what developers typically do to hype a game up, but somehow Nintendo managed to show off this game in the most basic and honest possible way and it was still enough to hype people up for it. It's nice to see a game that stands on its own two feet based on its own merits and not some pre-rendered cutscene designed to hype people up as much as possible with a bunch of empty promises.

You remember all those quotes about Miyamoto messing around in his backyard as a kid, exploring tiny caves and climbing trees and finding cool rocks? I feel like this is _the game_ where he truly shares that experience with us.

It has been six years... And the game still holds up. Even with TOTK out, this game is still amazing

How could anyone say this game is overrated? It is one of those rare games that can engage every emotion out of its players.

The "Open Your Eyes" still sends chills down my spine. Incredible memories playing this for the first time on my brand new Switch in my upstairs bedroom loft, alone and happy and lost in adventure.

This trailer is special, it is calm, slow, beautiful and suddenly it is epic, with so much new things going on. I think it perfectly describes the game. Just by watching it you can tell how well the world is crafted, every hills and and every puddles, nothing is here without a reason.

Breath of the Wild is where I go to explore a more peaceful and simple world, Tears of the Kingdom is where I go to tape a Korok to a wooden cross, set it on fire, shoot it into the air with rockets and then watch it explode midair like some gruesome firework. Pretty neat balance

The new trailer is gold. No-one can complain anymore, I think.

All the people complaining about graphics is just Wind Waker repeating itself. I know Sony and Microsoft are pushing great graphics but Nintendo's philosophy has mainly been: Gameplay > Graphics

I hope Nintendo does this kind of trailer again for Tears of the Kingdom. This is one of the most beautiful trailers ever and I still love watching it five years after the game came out.

I still think this trailer is superior to the 2017 one. Not only because I love the main theme but it captures better what Botw is about: a vast world to explore with beautiful landscapes, the sounds of nature and a minimalist and peaceful music

First great Switch game, last great Wii U game. It deserves the awards it's getting.

I just came back to this after watching the trailers for Tears of the Kingdom, and am happy to say this still holds up. Truly a masterpiece.

Whats absolutely incredible about this trailer/the game itself is that, in most trailers like this, they're just animations that aren't anything close to the actual gameplay. But in this trailer, everything, the sounds, the atmosphere, the lighting, the animals, the gameplay, the graphics, everything is footage pulled straight from the game. Even the music. And that, my friends, is what makes Breath of the Wild the greatest and most breathtaking video game in existence.

I'd love to just see a hinox walking around and not having to activate it. Also, they left out the yiga clan member appearing every two seconds when you're just trying to explore and enjoy the environment.

Still here 5 years later. I can't believe how time goes by... I was 17 years old when this came out, and I sold a lot of my old Wii games (not thru gamestop, lol) so I could have enough to buy the Switch and Zelda on launch day. I even made sure to count taxes so I had EXACTLY enough to buy it. It might sound sad, but this is probably the happiest memory of my life. I can't wait for the sequel.

Never in my life have I played a game so brilliant as this. The music, especially being on top of the towers, resonates with me so deeply. This game is sacred to me.

"This doesn't look like a Zelda game" People all complaining about that, but before this they complained about Nintendo always doing the same thing, no pleasing you people. I think this looks amazing, and I'm very excited to get my hands on it.

I was 6 when this game came out and my parents bought it for me and to this day I still play it. Can’t wait for the next one!

Dang, almost 7 years already. Still remember sticking around the livestreams for so long while chatting with friends about this.

Reflecting back, I am so glad my parents started me on the systems in order. I got to experience almost every zelda game in order (apart from a few gameboy and DS games) so that BOTW and TOTK could be experienced in the fullest. Best game franchise of all time. The music is what really brings it home for me, they cared SO MUCH about staying true to the games original themes and incorporated new styles BEAUTIFULLY. I just wish I could go back and experience them all over again like playing them for the first time.

The trailer for BotW 2 was extremely dark... and I thoroughly enjoyed it. So glad that BotW is getting the Majora's Mask treatment. :DDDDD

As soon as the violin kicked in at around 2:20 I actually cried. The visuals and music made me so happy. I have never been so excited for any game.

Now that we near the release of Tears of the Kingdom, I have to say, this is probably my favorite of the trailers for Breath of the Wild. The story trailer is amazing in its own right, but the sheer wonder that this trailer beholds is something that always makes me want to pick up the game again and get lost in the beautiful world of Hyrule.

Honestly I think no company will ever come even remotely close to the masterpieces that Nintendo creates. Their (major) games are consistently fun or amazing. I believe that gameplay and music > graphics in every case.

Games don't need an impressive art style to be great. It's the music, the feels, the nostalgia, the love poured into it. Be glad that this game has been delayed, would you rather have it rushed out the door and be absolutely terrible? What made Zelda a great game? The characters and the depths of everything in the game. Remember Ocarina of Time. That moment when you first stepped onto Hyrule Field, the music that played when you took your first step into the giant world of Hyrule. The sense of exploration and freedom to choose, all you had to do was decide where to go. You created the legend yourself, you unfolded the tale of the Hero of Time in your own way. Look at Twilight Princess. That moment when you turned into a wolf. Not only was there a story to the human form of Link, but to his beast form. A bonding between you and the characters in the game. The showdown between Zant and who could forget that awesome Ganondorf battle? Right in the middle of Hyrule field. No magic, just the two of you and your swords, and the awesome music that played. Every time I watch this trailer, it never fails to make me tear up. The music, scenery, story, mechanics, everything... out of all the LoZ I've played, or rather the games I've played in my entire life so far, this has been by far one of the best gaming experiences. And now, it's 2022. BOTW 2 will be released this year, and I absolutely cannot wait to breathe in this wild world again.
