UPROXX Video Big Shout Out to The Brother/King Talib and Sister/Queen Angela! You both are so insightful and well educated on everything you have done. I love listening/watching you guys help expand the many minds that take the time to indulge in what it is you offer. Continue to teach us and be great for the many who are lost no matter what color they are but it matters that we as Afro-Americans have someone to help us get better.

Talib is one of the those that remain different and won’t change unapologetically! Respect 💯 Edit: Angela Rye is awesome too. If only ppl on all sides could learn to have conversations with each other. The anti-divide and conquer.

lew bronstein I've listened to that interview.I like it. I also know that while popular front communists have often closed ranks with progressive liberals around the Democrat Party that there are qualitative distinctions to be made between both ideologies. I also know that while Malcolm claimed to be flexible on the economic question during the militant panel he always maintained a cynicism toward liberalism and both major political factions while consistently advancing the idea of establishing independent political organizations and candidates.
@kevinscott59
@kevinscott59 4 года назад
lew bronstein The Popular Front line of the Communist International emerged during the mid-late 30s after the rise of fascist Europe. Viewing the fascist movement as an existential threat after extreme repression under Nazism the Comintern decided that a coalition strategy of radicals and reformists unified under a common political banner was the only hope of insuring the survival of revolutionary movements.

Talib, why do you guys assume that the folks on social media are just young people who don’t think critically or don’t know how to research. So like Roland Martin, u guys think we’re all stupid. Why don’t you guys reach out to the social media folks to find out what the real issues are? But you don’t want to entertain them because they’re not in lockstep with your ideals? Black people are so tired of this…You guys are so condescending and so out of touch.

people keep acting like all young people like this new wave of non conscious rap, but its not. you might not see their comments online, but people are for real saddened by the direction the music is heading in. i went to the barbershop saturday and everyone was just sad about it, so we had nothing to listen to but older music

At 10:42 Kweli says "Chuck - D once famously called Hip-Hip CNN for the community" as if Black music and word of mouth did not already do that. It was once called the 'grapevine'. Statements like this exemplify the generational disconnect that happened with our people. Hip-Hop talks about its influence around the world. Jazz did the same thing and R& B also, but maybe to a lessor extant. Hip-Hop portrays itself as having been innovative, when the only element of it that did not exist prior to it, in some form or another was scratching. Hip-Hop is, at the most, a relatively recent manifestation of youth/pop culture. Youth/pop culture is historically tied to the development of capitalism, and thus may be why it has not been trans-formative. The instinctive Black culture has not evolved, no more so than instinctive human culture or human morality/spirituality has evolved, even though our intellect has. That is the type of culture that is needed, and no culture has produced that type of evolutionary maturity. Since the industrial revolution adolescence has been a plague on humanity. A generation that is able to spur the faster maturity of youth, would be the only generation that is worthy of being boastful about its culture. Hip-Hop has been no more successful of this, than any other generation. How many more drug and violence epidemics do we have to endure, before we admit that we have a problem? Why do we still enable and justify the selling of drugs to our people - saying it is an act of survival. How is something that kills you an act of survival? We go beyond all that and glorify and idolized criminality and criminals. Hip-Hop has not changed this cultural practice, that it inherited, but it acts as if it has produced these kind of changes. It has more power than previous youth cultures, with the power of the internet and social media, but is achieving less with it. Hip-Hop may not have a lot of time left, to redeem itself. It has had a long run, but the minds of youth are fickle and capitalist are always looking for the next big craze to capitalize on. Don't let your longevity put you to sleep. When you wake up you might have been replaced by something new. Young people grow up faster with each generation, and older generations are pushed aside that much quicker. If one generation happens to mature rapidly, while they are growing, your reign may very will end overnight. Hip-Hop, would you please get it right, while you have time. You would really be noted and lauded in history. As it stands now, you will not be looked upon as favorably as you think of yourself today. Again, you still have time to make your mark, but you are on the clock. More than that, the future of the race my depend on your success in this. If the year 2020 is the year of 2020hindsight - (looking back on our past to learn from our mistakes and our successes, and learning from them, so we may have a clear understanding and vision of what we need to do to get to where we need and desire to be) and setting the stage for the insuring decade to achieve our goals and what might be our destiny , we had better hope that something more powerful is not looking at us, and expecting us to achieve this.

I would love to speak to a woman of Angela Rye's intelligence about being pro choice. I'm not right wing or left wing (crips and bloods to me) but I am pro life. And in my very personal life I've experienced the two typical arguments for pro choice: rape and health. Both with women very close to me. So I believe my perspective is unique. I don't see how an intelligent person, a feminist, any human frankly but, especially women can be pro choice. I would really appreciate a better articulated dialogue to see how this is reasoned in what I believe to be a very reasonable and brilliant mind such as hers and women like her.

I wish more people would acknowledge that Hip-Hop started as a multicultural art form in the beginning days in the Bronx. Primarily Black and Latino youths but really all races and ethnicities were representing in graffiti, turn-tabling, breaking and emceeing. Only later Hip Hop slowly became known as only rap which was dominated by Black emcees. At its roots though Hip Hop has always been colour blind.
