Talib Kwali's pen and rhyme skills are mad underrated. He's been in the game for a long time and still doesn't get the credit he deserves. I get that he doesn't care about none of that because he's more of an underground rapper. Eardrum is one of my favorite albums by him.
Carlos Wilson Jr. it's funny hes considered a underground rapper because this nigga got pen game like 5 drake sweat shops. To me this man represents the essence of hip hop.
I met Phife after a show and all i told him was thank you for repping Hip Hop the way you do. He looked at me and said good lookin...I'll always remember that
its a shame hip hop has gotten so far away from og's like this and sounds like this,,i am not hating on new generations at all,but 90's hip hop is absolutely legendary
Joe J Simpson every generation has their decade. I was a teen in the 90's...so my old ass stays listening to 90's and 00. I like a lot of the kids with bars now, but I can't get into the new shit because let's be honest, I ain't cool anymore. 😎 I get what you're saying. No hate to the new, but I will always prefer the 90's.
***** i def feel ya'll i'm not one of those people that are stuck in just my generation,,but i truly feel early 90's to early 2000's is that shit,,maybe my old 31 yr old ass is just getting older and stuck in my times
@@DirtCheapFU That line doesn't make sense, though, because a new moon is dark. Still love the song, though, but that line has always bothered me, being the science nerd that I am.
I couldn't imagine my life without the influence of A Tribe Called Quest, Talib Kweli, Common, Busta, Mos Def, etc... Hip Hop is NOT just music; it is a mind state, it is a way of life. If you are a real "Head" you embody at least 3 of the 9 elements of Hip-hop! There's a passion for this culture that is not comparable! The knowledge of self, hunger to teach, the drive to preach, ability to create, the strength to hustle, the love of art, and the fortitude to survive and overcome are the essential characteristics that I've internalized because of Hip-hop music! My walk is Hip-hop. My talk is Hip-hop. My rebellious nature is Hip-hop. My style is Hip-hop. My intellect is Hip-hop. My parenting is Hip-hop. My manhood is Hip-hop. My love is Hip-hop! It's the blood in your veins that keeps you going!
A Tribe Called Quest is my favorite group of all time, across all music genres on this planet ❤🖤💚 I remember hearing "Electric Relaxation" when I was little and it stopped me in my tracks.... Beautiful, beautiful Gods of the art we call Hip-Hop!
Bigg Omar unfortunately its on RU-vid, but I've seen common live before at the house of blues in Kentucky back in 07. Finding Forever tour was lit. Wanna see Talib but never had the chance.
BLVCK LORD they highly rated for their lyrics ... not only in the us , but they have that recognition in countries that follows underground hip hop . France, Germany, UK and countries in Africa . they all acknowledge them
Thank you glad for still interviewing real rappers and real artists. RIP to Phife and Dilla Dawg. Dilla is definitely my favorite produce your hands down.
I have serious respect for talib. One of my favorite persons in rap. Not my favorite rapper (though i like him ALOT) but definitely up there. Characters wise, he is one of the greatest. Humble, intelligent, respectful and articulate like a real G.
Mr. Kweli's photographic memory, recalling without pause, specific moments and places, situations and experiences across time, whether the night before or 1994, could only occur through attrition. Once again proof positive. Success is not given. It's TRULY earned.
Favorite hip hop artist EVER. Such a real person, and I respect him even more after watching this interview. The respect and pure love that he has for the culture of hip hop. If Kweli isn't on your top 5 idk what the fuck you're doing w your life.
Talib makes me realize how beautiful and inspirational hip hop music is even though it gets shit on by people that prefer other genres hip hop is still my favorite.
Going deeper into the advent of the "golden sound" era, precursor to J-Dilla, that had influence in hip-hop was Pete Rock and the shelved 'INI' album 'Center Of Attention' (The original 1st underground version that hit the streets of Uptown Manhattan and Bronx, NY in the mid-90's).
Talib Kweli and Mos Def are two of the most talented rappers/rhymers/poets I have ever heard, especially Mos Def. It's messed up that they are pigeon holed into being "conscious rappers" because they spit rhymes and ride beats like no other.
while I was getting fed grapes by some butt naked chick, looking over the Hudson with ur (we are hungry please let us in) music playing in my background. I realized how lucky I am, what was u saying about ur album? aw yeah good song brother... good song. -Vladimir
It could've been, but Common fucked it up by not being in the studio with them recording it and it took him rewriting his verse to even be on they're level on that song...
This guy has been rapping since before 2011... I only fuck with rappers that started after 2012 and old music sounds, old and boring... I don't care about lyrics, I like melody.. - Majority of kids that listen to rap nowadays
