Here's a list of tracks used, for those of you who asked about the music: Los Habaneros - Chalalatas - 01:09 Drop Me a Line - Curtain Peepers - 05:52 Funky Sam - Wanda Shakes - 11:53 Harlem Spills - Nicky Dowling - 15:48 Stubborn Spirits - Blue Topaz - 23:38 Cumberland Gap - Nat Keefe with The Bow Ties - 28:20
100 percent agree. 96-99 was kinda dark on tour. I think the invasion of speed then later the synthetics made tour have this horrible energy. People started looking sick and H became a problem.
Totally agree. In my opinion the golden Phish years were those right before Jerry's death in '95. After that the Dead scene that had become really toxic simply migrated over. If you were lucky enough to be catching shows in '93 and '94 it was clear as day. I remember a late summer run through the northwest in Aug. '93. They played small theaters. There was no lot scene to speak of. After each show Trey and at least one or two other guys from the band (usually Mike or Page) would simply be outside the venue out in the lot talking to fans. There would only be maybe a dozen people chilling there talking to them, never more than 20. This was after every show. Then Jerry died and everyone from Dead tour simply jumped onto Phish tour, and it blew up from there.
I love Phish and being at a Phish show is something EVERY music lover should experience. My gf was never a fan until I played her Waste (which she LOVES) and If I Could, and Sample In a Jar, and several more. I took her to a show in Camden and we had tons of fun and she was in shock at how awesome the Phish lots in Camden are.
😂😂😂exact same thing happened with my wife like the exact songs you listed are what I reeled her in with until she got to her first show! Good times! & she got a waste at her first show it was magic watching her experience it!
As a 36 year old who's parents took him to over 30 plus Dead shows before I was 8, many Phish,Trey,Ratdog,Phil and friends etc ... I really truly appreciate you making this. Cant wait to be back on Shakedown street to see all the works real heads, Phans and the whole bunch. Love you all!
I gave a ticket to that dude at 18:10. 'Seen him at many shows too. That Tweezerfest at that Met was way above average especially the unfinished Chalkdust into Freezer, wow!. Totally Ass-Handed to us. I can't believe I'm actually seeing live music for the next 3 days with Bisco. So geeked. Miss you all in Fall. Grease & Nugs....thx for the doc!
This was exactly what I needed to put in my ears this morning. This reminded me of what's really important in life. This music and what it brings to us all is what we need. I smiled big ☺ after this one. Love it all.
@@LotVidz I was there too! What a great run. The second set of that night was weird but that CDTR starting up was my favorite singular moment ever, the anticipation since they had teased it at soundcheck earlier in the tour was unreal. I love that song. Such a special memory. Thanks for making this!!
Man, I saw my 1st show in 1990 at the Barrymore theater in Madison Wi. & I was Hooked from there on. We Ordered our Tix directly from Phish for the entire summer & Fall tour's back then. My buddy & I Started that the fall of 1995 & got complete summer & fall ticket packages from 1996 through 2000 hiatus. I was actually working for Phish @ Curveball when It got cancelled. Peace & much Love
Very cool, I usually snag the weekend passes when they are offered for runs but have never seen a complete tour package. Then again, I wasn't old enough to see them in the 90's :)
The same people bummed about missing the Boise show (props to my dude for pronouncing Boise correctly, but that's neither here nor there) are the same who skipped SLC between Halloween and Denver, '98. Much love from the Intermountain West. ✌✌
Got into phish earlier this year, was going to go see them and D&C for the first time in July, then covid happened. Hope to see them both someday soon.
I’ll never forget at a show in Atlanta at Lakewood amphitheater (probably ‘97-‘98?) an older lady and her husband were walking through the lot and she stopped, pointed to some blown glass pipes and exclaimed “Honey! They’re selling crack pipes!”. I died .. 😊
Yeah, we had no idea at the time but they ended up letting everyone in the show that waited in that overflow line for hours. Quite a memorable experience.
@@LotVidz had you already gone in? I was really hoping to see the magic I heard about that everyone waiting on standby across the street got in. Regardless, a fun watch, thanks for making the effort. A fair mix of the younger and older heads.
I was filming interviews then heard that we had to organize our own line for the overflow list. I ran to my car a few blocks away to drop my camera stuff off then got in line. It was either risk not getting in the show because I wasn't in line (can't bring camera in shows) or give up just to get a few shots of people standing in a line. Nothing too special visually really, but I'm glad we all ended up getting in!
been into phish since about 2000 only been to about 15 shows cuz i cant travel so its midwest only but theres somethin really special about these guys and they really need to get back into the swing of things after the atrocious year 2020
I called a Curtain too Polaris 98. It wasn't so rare back then though Edit: My best call was probably the Deer Creek 2003 Gumbo. That summer all I planned on doing was Star Lake and the IT. But I ended up WINNING A PAIR OF TICKETS ON JAMBASE. For the 2nd of 3 nights at Deer Creek. So a friend and I drove the 2 hours west, got 2 doses each (fractals) and I just had a feeling they'd play Gumbo because they had played a good one there in 98. And the one they played was incredible. Best jam I heard that summer. That Deer Creek 03 Gumbo is up there with Star Lake 97 (my first show) for best ever
I bought the Junta cassette in 93 at Good Vibrations music shop and popped it in the tape player, didn't leave the parking lot until it was over. Just sparked one and sat there and thought *finally... some music as weird as me* Favorite show was State Palace Theatre with MMW opener...the balcony shook, literally.
Just did a quick search, The Agora Ballroom has a theatre with 1,800 capacity and a ballroom with 500 capacity... Do you remember which room the show? A review on .net says this was also Kevin Shapiro's first show, who would go on to be the band's Archivist. What are the odds?
@@LotVidz It was the ballroom. I went in cold. I couldn't really comprehend what I was seeing. Interesting that Shapiro was there. Another strange coincidence.
Coventry was such a mess due to the rain and mud. We had to park in rest stops and walk like 15 miles. Couldnt have all our gear. What a mud bath. Residents were legends for giving people rides for 5 bucks a head back to their cars on the highway.
Haha I've heard this from a few people, makes sense. It's all about the approach, asking people beforehand and explaining what it's for goes a long way! Nobody wants a camera shoved in their face by a stranger.
I was at the Dec 4th Pittsburgh show... damn bruh, that was a fuckin cold night. But great vibes. I was stone cold sober... well, minus the beers and balloons beforehand
I’m too young to have been even a 2.0 or 3.0 I think but starting off with Phil shows before and during covid im hitting up dead and co then phish three days in a row for my first phish show! 😎⭕️🤘 making up for lost time the culture is perfect these are my people!
@@LotVidz our car broke down on the way to bethel. Rented a uhaul made it to the shows. The exact bethel experience I wanted lol it was amazing. The set lists were above my expectations. We got a Timber, Wilson, super long sigma. I was blown away all three nights
Good stuff man, thanks for putting it together! Love the pittsburgh dude, my first show was 3/11/88 but I agree with him in that up until say Jerry's death everyone was younger east coast college kids, I think a darker element crept into the lot post Jerry death. They weren't deadheads and they weren't phishheads they just wanted to sell nitrous and do heroin. I know Phish got banned from Lake Placid after dec 95 shows because of needles found at an elementary school. They could have been anybody but again before that it was really kind of nerdy college kids using the internet who like how fucked up phish was and heard about the shenanigans on phish.net and rec.music.phish. long live RMP
Thanks for the insight. I hope people understand that most of us aren't out here causing trouble, but like anything else there's always a few bad apples.
That there is. Bad apples...Same thing happened to the Dead in 87 after Touch of Grey hit #8 on the pop charts. All of a sudden the scene got too big. Lots of people (vendors included) toured for the party. They lost RedRocks, the Greek, and only came back to Hampton for 2 years of 8 before Jerry passed. It (shit) happens. Amazing the parallels tho. I wonder how many people move east for Phish proximity like we all moved west in the late 80s to the Bay Area for Dead consumption? I’ve still never seen Phish on the east coast (tho I’m from DC). Your movie tho!!!! Has made me change my mind and as soon as another NYE run happens, I’m Mail ordering. I was truly bummed to have not been able to catch my Eugene/Gorge 5 this last summer. Would have put me at 25 Phish shows (1st Salem OR 12/1/94). Saw 115 Dead but most of those were pre kids! It makes a difference. Now my kids would go with me to Phish. I mean, they grew up as their favorite phish song being several versions of Harpua. This is around 8 and 10. They are now 29 and 31. Nuff said. Love Phish!!! Miss em bad. Thanks 🙏 again for the doc.
I dunno, as an addict I kinda get it. I've been opiate-free since Oct. 13th, 2008. I was recently talking to a kid (And when I say kid, I mean *kid*. Seventeen years old.) in an airport who was on his way to rehab for heroin, and it was all I could do to keep it together while I cheered him on and wished him well. No judgement to anyone for their choices. Hell, I'm not 100% sober. But opiates . . . Oof, they're a bitch. Stay well out there, friend! ✌
@@MikeP2055 Mike I completely understand where you're coming from. I battled a awful opiate addiction for 10 years. It chewed me up, spit me out, and left me a shell of my former self. I've clawed my way back over the years and I'm super thankful for that. I would most likely be dead if I hadn't made that change. So many of my friends have OD'd and not come back from it because that is simply what happens to opiate addicts. You crave more and more trying to chase a feeling until it takes you. If you are reading this and you are still battling addiction, please know that you can make it out. It will suck and be difficult, but it will save your life.
@@analog_memories Thank you! I'm doing pretty good these days. I probably drink more than I should, but I steer clear of the opiates. They chewed me up and spit me out as well. It's a goddamn miracle I'm still alive. Be well, my friend. ✌
My first show on the day of my 18th birthday was in MTSU basketball arena... Murfreesboro, TN... I got lucky and found a floor ticket and ended up on the rail on Page side... Love it
Nice! I took my buddy to his first shows that run as well, crazy downpour the first night, lots of fun. Technically it was summer tour, but who's counting?
Girl said she saw a phish show in 2006??? Maybe it was a private gig??? LOL Around the 15mins mark. Such a different scene these days. Glad you interviewed new people.
Haha it sounds like she meant tour in general, as she goes on to explain how she started doing Ratdog, Phil, etc then Phish came back. Good to hear you appreciate the newer fan interviews though!
