Really appreciate your content. I've run RIF's pretty much stock all the 14 years I've been airsofting but recently decided to build a DMR upper for my MWS. Getting it to perform as I want has not been successful so far. I'll definitely be using what I've learned from your videos to get it right. Keep up the good work
I've got a big project on the go testing rubber, nub and barrel combinations so look out for that as it'll be all about getting max range and max accuracy from the MWS. Also as a DMR the mws is an excellent choice!!
GBBR's are so versatile and not only more fun to play with but way more fun to tinker with and for me the simplicity of a gas system is just great, it all clicks for me in a way AEGs never did.
Awesome stuff mate:) I just bought a WE Scar H gbbr from my mate for dirt cheap which is in poor shape, but am gonna turn it into a semi auto dmr once he drops it off to me. The selector drum is almost identical to the MWS, in the sense that you can file down an area of it and it will no longer fire full auto. It will be a learning process along the way as I am completely unfamiliar with the WE Scar gbb platform in comparison to the MWS, but should be a lot of fun and I'll try and transfer my knowledge on what ive learnt about the MWS over the past year from you onto it. Angry Gun full steel bolt carriers are already on the list, currently trying to source heavy spring kits as well, really want to ramp up that recoil feel as its ofc a .308 replica. Unfortunately the aftermarket is nowhere near as big as the mws aftermarket is, but that's also reflected with the real world rifles, AR15s have many many aftermarket customisable components, real SCAR17s dont particularly, other than extended upper receivers which im not keen on. Will definitely be a fun project for sure though, i think I will try and modify the internals with some fabrication magic to get the selector to stop at the semi auto position too, but we shall see:)
Oh very nice my friend had one, yeah the recoil is ok but not what you want from a .308 replica, you want a real smack from that! Steel bolt would be great and with an npas nozzle would probably be fine with Guarder black gas to up the recoil. I've not had much experience with Scar's, kinda waiting for the scar16 Zet System to come out as I've already got the mags but desperate to see TM do a .308 in pretty much any form! And the Saiga will be great for recoil too! Anyway getting distracted, sounds like a cool project, lots of aspects to improve from recoil to hop. Let me know how you get on!
My hop up set in both of my MWS is Laylax hopup chamber and their hop tensioner, with UNICORN 70 degree hopup bucking, the reason being such combination of Laylax hopup chamber and their tensioner is almost like a TDC hop system and it sounds great for me, although sadly still have no chance to go out and try out the range of this set up because of covid. By the way, I did not know that Geissele rail system have their barrel nut tool until I see this video lol, I thought Z-parts already provide a very good set
I've actually got the Laylax hop chamber somewhere in my spares, I seem to remember not having much luck with it but I also had less experience at that point. I'd be interested to try it again to be fair as I forgot I had one. Just keeping going with the current setup for now though. With the rail it's awesome. As it's an actual Geissele and not an Airsoft repro it comes with the barrel nut and tool. If you use the Z-Parts steel outer barrel the lock up is as tight as the real thing with no need for shims or adjustment.
@@OllieTalksAirsoft Sadly that is impossible to get a real steel Geissele in Hong Kong. I also have a Z-parts steel 10.3 barrel my first MWS, but I found it's quite heavy for me, so my second MWS just use more light weight AngryGun outer barrel, surprisingly the AG barrel is super tight fit and solid, so I have a lot of faith of it.
@@yh_l1556 I started out with their multi length, made a cqbr as my first build about a month before TM released theirs. Weirdly I got my rail from Dytac, they got a real one to scan and sold it to me once they'd finished with it. Keep an eye on their website, I got mine from the specials section 😉
Great vid I'm looking to do a dmr set up too, I wanted to ask if there was an update with regards to the range you got after the upgrades? Also what's your view with regards to the difference in range and accuracy between tightbores and widebore barrels? Cheers

My Gbbr hop up unit which is aftermarket uses a “ vsr” mauri hop rubber but it’s doesn’t have the notch on the outside do you think I should get a maple leaf rubber with the notch and just remove it with a razor blade or should I try one of there hybrid rubber which essentially is a vsr rubber without the notch but it’s technically meant for using vsr spec no bridge inner barrels in a aeg there cheap so I might just pick up both just curious if you had a opinion on this since your a wealth of knowledge! And no it’s not a mws but you seem very knowledgeable regardless

Have you had any problems with inconsistent hop on an MWS? Using ZO pro gas and a maple leaf silicon 50°. Sometimes the BB rolls out of the Barrel, sometimes it hops perfectly, and sometimes has no hop. This is usually like every other mag I put through it. Any ideas?
Yes, it's the hop not settling the BB before it's fired. The solution is to increase the amount of hop applied and use heavier BBs. As you say it hops perfectly sometimes it'll be sometimes the BB is sat in the hop and gets fired like normal, other times the nozzle pushes the BB all the way through the hopup and into the barrel, then you pull the trigger and the BB is being shot from half way down the barrel and hence no hop is applied. So if you increase the hop you'll also need to increase the BB weight to keep a consistent flat BB flight path but also have the increased amount of hop applied. Hope that makes sense, let me know how you get on!
@@OllieTalksAirsoft Ahh excellent point, that sounds bang on. I thought it was an issue with lube on the rubber. I ran about 8 mags through today (before I saw your comment) and applied one more click of the hop and had no issues. The first shot shoots a bit high but thereafter it's absolutely bang on at 25 meters. It's my first skirmish with it tomorrow so that will be the real test! Edit: I'm using .32's
Hey ollie! Maybe you see this, but I am planning to get me an MWS from TM. AS I see, the hoparms does support a Omega nub? And do I really need an "I" key? Hope you can respond!
Wonderful stuff, I've been following your channel for a few weeks now after getting my own MWS and it's helped me out a lot! I'm really disappointed with the hop pressure placement and size of the nub window...It seems like TM used an AEG placement on a GBB bucking, it's too far toward the front IMO. Is there any follow up to this Omega Key combo? Would really be interesting to see the results!
thanks buddy, the omega nubs a drop in so you can get a more flat style hop. the reason its so far forward is so the BBs have room to sit behind the nub with the nozzle sat behind. it means if you use something like the sixG brass nub (or the omega) you can hop way heavier BBs consistently, and that consistency is the key part. if it was further back the BB could sit in different places within the hop and that's not as consistent.
@@OllieTalksAirsoft thanks for the quick reply! I dropped in the sixg nub from the get go and I've tried various buckings and all are pretty good tbf... I've been playing since 1999 and have various rifs, this is my first assault level gbb and I'm loving it! I'm only at 1.1j limits and I use 0.36 or 0.30 depending on what site I'm playing at. I thought about dmr'ing it but then I lose 25m engagement to gain 15 or 20 at the other end... but my site does allow 2.3j for dmr so will likely grab a second selector to mod. I may grab an omega to try and get that little extra contact length from the bucking patch and see how it goes
I filmed some for it but it ended up turning into my hop up project which has been mammoth!! hoping to have results by the end of the summer which given the amount of work I need to do isn't long at all!
Hi bro. Very useful video. Now it's time to build my MWS DMR. I have 370mm barrel but never used it on feild. FPS is too high. Do you try X rang bucking before?
I've got one but have not tried it out yet, I've had a look and they are the same as a maple leaf decepticon basically. The 370mm will increase the FPS as the stock one is 250mm. Depending on where you're playing it may be worth getting a different selector so you can run semi only at a higher FPS. If you can't use a DMR at your local site and you still want to use the longer inner barrel you'll need to trim your rocket valve spring. Or you can use an NPAS although I can never get them to stay consistent enough.
Have you compared the silicone autobot to the silicone mrhop? I have a 70 bot and 60 hop for my akm just haven't put them in yet. I had great results with the autobot in an aap01, but that thing hops freaking .4's ootb
Not yet, I'll be putting the autobot in the type 89 so I can put it up against an mws and it's like for like. Yeah my AAP-01 is pretty nuts to be fair. With this DMR build I think it's the competition hop wheel that's not helping me. I could switch to a different rubber with a nub insider like the original TM but Ive seen great results from using a flatter pressure. You need to get your Mr hop into your akm it's the best upgrade going in my opinion.

@@OllieTalksAirsoft yea basically I converted my hpa rifle to run off 12gr co2 in the stock to get rid if the line and tank, but the performance is kinda shit so I picked up a 10ci tank and am putting it back on hpa
