I've said it elsewhere, and I stand by it: every conversation or interaction with a narcissist needs to be handled as if you're trying to defuse a bomb.

If you stand up to them, they will discard you. THAT is the greatest gift of all. No arguing or defending; just facts. If it is safe to do so of course. 😉

I once said to the ex narc husband that his conversations were like hot air releasing into the atmosphere , that they were full of pollution ! In over 30 years with him he never forgot what I said , I was not even aware at the time what I was dealing with but he knew . It’s crazy , all those hours of listening to his rants ! Thank god I am out !

I know this is a video from a year ago, but when you said narcissists are full of shit, I fumbled for my phone, it flew out of my hand, was able to catch it, so I can thumbs up this. I like your everyday examples, your smooth way of conveying all about what they're like. Sometimes I let my daughter listen to you. My narcissist is abusive to her, even though we have very limited contact. They don't have any grasp on themselves. Fascinating!

Are they consciously aware they are saying things deliberately to hurt you or are the doing it with any awareness that is motive ? I jus want to know if all these years of arguments he knew he was trying to upset or anger me or if it was sort of like a habit without a self awareness of his motive it’s really important to me to know if he knew what he was doing or if he didn’t , thank you if you read this and reply and thank you for your amazing videos especially this one it was one of your best and I’ve listened to everyone of your videos.

There are always exceptions, but I think most of them think that the people they hurt have done something to deserve it, so to them, it sort of “doesn’t count”. In their mind, they aren’t hurting innocent people. They think they’re protecting themselves from real threat or attack. That’s my opinion. There really isn’t a simple answer because they think so differently from normal people. Good question!

@@LookingBehindtheMirror you are so very right. The narc I was involved with when asked why he says all the crap and then pretends nothing happened said: "I'm not insane. I know what I'm doing all the time and I know what to say to hurt you even when I dont really think that. I do it only when you piss me off. You know that I am a very charming person to everyone esle. Stop pissing me off and i will stop talking shit." And i did listen to him. I stopped any contact whatsoever. Thank you for your videos. You have helped me come to terms with soooo much stuff.

May I add another magic response to anything a narcissist is saying to you - "I see." and not another word. Repeat if you must, but that's it. It's merely an acknowledgement, not an agreement, not a promise, not apologetic, not an admission, and not even validating. It doesn't diminish, nor raise you above the narcissist which could threatens him/her, but it will let you escape the conversation while leaving the narcissist dangles in mid air and confused. Very gratifying.

I know exactly what you mean ! I know it’s not in my best interest to have any contact with her , but sometimes I feel like maybe I’m the reason why it ended without any closure . She inflicted a serious physical injury to me that she called an accident (with unbelievable non-chalance) and 2 years later I’m still dealing with the pain from that , and that’s a constant reminder of the pain she has caused me

Amazing video,i always do repetitive asking the same questions but these ppl r so cunning they abruptly leave the room without awnsering,and also u r right they really do think we deserve it and they r innocent its laughable no matter wht we do they engage us somehow cs they are disordered thts how i keep looking at it now and feel less stressed and think keep on talking jiberish i know why u are this way, thankyou for another great video x
