Probably to do with the fact that we had Italian immigration to the city for work along with the Irish and this would no doubt have influenced the workers speaking style 😊

Literally 90% of the people in this video don't have Sheffield accents. They're all Londoners or students from the south.

I was actually wondering about that, because I looked up the video because I heard the Sheffield accent was something special. I thought most of them had a quite normal English pronounciation.

Sheffield is a fantastic city to live in. There is always plenty of things to see and do. You are only a 10 minute drive from the center for fabulous views of the country side, which not many people know about unless your from Sheffield !! It's well worth a visit if only for a weekend. Iv'e lived here all my life and never been bored with it and i'm in my early 60's !

I live in Leeds now and I miss Sheffield quite a bit. Though at least in Leeds the shops are actually in town, not shoved in a crappy shopping mall miles away.

I have just discovered Easy English, it is f.a.n.t.a.s.t.i.c.! The best way to learn new words and the pronunciation is listening to what people talk on the streets. And subtitles are a must for non-English speaker. thanks for sharing it, good job!

I'm live in Florida but my mom, grandparents and aunts were from Sheffield. They came to the US in 1929. I think I was one of the few Americans who had no trouble understanding a strong Yorkshire accent. The two gentlemen sitting on the ledge talking about decorators sounded just like my grandparents did! I can still hear my grandma chiding us kids not to go mucking about!

I’m an American who interacts mostly with Londoners. So I don’t have much experience distinguishing British accents from other parts of England when I listen to them. But this Sheffield accent surely jumps at me very singularly.

I'm actually Kathleen Kehoe not my husband Tom. I live in "Upstate New York". My great grandfather Thomas Henry Earnshaw came from Sheffield. He was a cutler, knife maker. I never heard his voice so I wanted to hear what he might have sounded like. He moved to New York State when he was a fairly young man in the last quarter of the 19th century.

My 2 yrs in Sheffield was so memorable right from the people and the places around you would definitely have breathtaking views and best coffee shop and tea shops on London road and the best is bragazzis . A wonderful place for experiencing all types of weather on the same day 😁. With accent I took me some few takes to understand bottle of water 😁 I love Sheffield

I went back to my home town after many years away, I couldn't stop laughing at the accent every time I went shopping. I asked my friends and family if I used to sound like that and they said yes lol... To my northern friends and family I sound posh, to my Southern/Eastern friends and family I still have the accent but milder lol

Weirdo Shxnnxn here is bloody warm too. The temperature in my room without colling systems is about 50°C and with cooling system it gets t0 30°C. I'm so done with this weather😅
