The A36 plus has quickly become my favorite budget radio. After doing the expand mod it transmits on 1.25 meters, 2 meters, 70 cm, GMRS, FRS and MURS. On 2 meters it puts out 6 watts, 440 4 watts but on 220 it puts out nearly 10 watts! It does however, switch my pc speakers to Bluetooth mode so there are definitely spurious emissions.

even fully compliant radios can trigger things like speakers particularly on 2M. My HF rig causes my LED lamp to dim when on CW. RF is funny stuff.

I may not be as critical as you on this and I agree certainly not up to the quality of many HTs although I would say it is about the same as a Feng with a couple of extra features.

@@houseofhamradio honestly I would say the Feng or The TYT UV88 are far superior to this one, got talk pod for am receive capability. I guess mine is a sample of one but it's about on par with bubble pack radios.

Nothing can kill UV5R. You unlock for frs Ham, gmrs , marine VHF. I’ll always have few UV5Rs stash

This one is also capable of all those as well if you go into expanded mode. UV5R is built like a tank though. this one doesn't seem quite as solid.

I like mine works well and also have the yaesu ft 4xr and there both keepers.

I was torn between the 4xr and the 65r and opted for the 65.

I also paired the 4x with a comet sma209j and it working great the repeater I use is only 2 miles away.

Battery comes detected really easily. Can see me being left with just the battery. Lost it twice in so many days. Have had to put some tape to hold it on. Otherwise a nice radio.

Interesting. I haven't had it out in the field but my battery seems very well locked on.

I’ve got two, really happy with it overall. But the battery can be pulled off easily. Both mine are the same. Great review 😊
