You're super skilled! You make it look easy maneuvering around and through everything. It's super satisfying watching this and daydreaming that one day I can be as skilled as you. Hopefully one day I won't swim at every corner of whitewater I hit.
Thanks. I have my beatering moments, too. All I can say is keep at it; I haven't been paddling for very long, but I do get out most days, which really helps. I've also got a great crew that helps me safely push my limits and teaches me a lot.
A real nice look at Talulah Gorge. What a beautiful place with some great river features and awesome scenery. Well done staying upright through Oceana. Looked like you went straight through the center wave. Looking forward to your next PFD river cuz it looks like you’re on a mission.
Great video. Other than Oceanna I think Wilson's Creek at high water is a more challenging run than Tallulah based on the video. Wilson's at +1' is very sticky and the scenery is awesome. Plus access to the road makes it very convenient if you get in over your head lol
I've not been when the water's off, but "The Thing" is some sort of rock. I wouldn't want to hit it straight on, personally, and I was warned to take a stroke as I go through it so that my right elbow doesn't hit it. Some folks joked at the put in that you only need a right elbow pad on this run. I did line up to take that left stroke the whole way down, which is kind of obvious, and I didn't feel any rock when I went through/by it on the left side (standard line these days).
