My mom is 93 and With dementia. we have Some great almonds when we're together but it broke my heart when I called her after I had gotten back from visiting her and she asked me when I was gonna go see her because she didn't remember any of the fun we had. That broke my heart

Bruce Willis' family has no idea how much we need them to show the world the reality about this. The good and the bad. So many of us have gone through this alone, with nobody understanding the hard stuff. If you have a family member with a mind that isn't normal, you'll be alone in the worst ways. You'll be judged for how it impacts you. You'll lose friends, people will even hate you because you world has changed in seats they don't understand. So thank you to the Willis family. 💗👍💕💜

This is currently my situation. My mom was diagnosed with frontal lobe dementia with other underlying psychological problems. During the worst bout, she was up for nearly two weeks. Didn't sleep for more than an hour or two and couldn't be left unattended. I have zero family. The hospital and doctors were no help. I couldn't go to work because I had no one to help watch her and no resources in my area. She's doing much better now but I dread the thought of when another "episode" may come... The people that judged me because I was running on zero sleep and absolutely loosing my mind is something I won't forget. Instead of offering help, I was told I was "selfish" for being upset about taking care of her. No, it was called burn out! We absolutely need more awareness brought to this and the way it affects the family of those suffering as well ❤️ my heart goes out to each and every one of you and I wish you strength and love to see you through

@@jekkagThank you actually speaking up; I'm my husband's caregiver and I've been a caregiver for other family members and what you said is true of each of them no one drops by to say hello but they all have opinions on what they want me to do most of the time I think that they should just go to hell and shut their pie hole BUT I can't do that with my husband's family not yet anyway; there will come a day though for sure.

@@jekkagmy father in law's got all that to come .they said 2 years and so far it's been 5 years. His wife is snapping at everyone and been bitter. But I pointed out she's terrified of the unknown . There isn't enough help out there and not enough research been done to one day find a cure or at least slow it down. I know we've all got a difficult time ahead of us . And I don't think my husband has a grasp of how bad it gets (I saw my grandad go through it) People just think they get a bad memory but it's much much more than that. It strips your loved ones personality one day at a time.

He nor they didn't ask to be the national spokesperson for the disease. So, they don't need to show anything to anybody, frankly. Celebrities already share much of their lives and not by choice. Paparazzi and pushed interviews like this one or for films force them to be front and center to strangers. They don't have to jump through ppl hoops at a time like this if they don't want to.

That's what happened to my mom as well 😢 All her life she behaved like the worst Karen you ever met and non one like her. Her family deserted her and it was up to me to care for her, which I did for the long years until my own child got sick and I couldn't handle caring for two disabled humans while keeping a full time job, so I made the difficult decision to put her in a nursing home, which she hated but then Alzheimers took over and she turned into the sweetest and most loving person! I never experienced my mom like that, so I was sad when she passed because she lasted only 3 months in the nursing home 😢 but I know what you mean when you say that your dad turned into pyre love ❤️ it was incredible to experience my mom that way and I'm glad that I saw it and felt it even if it was only for a short time. Much love to you ❤️

Well, you were lucky (were you his 24/7 caregiver?) because I experienced the opposite, Most people do with dementia. I have ptsd from being my Moms 24/7 caregiver of 6 yrs.

I had a similar experience with my Dad, as a daily visitor it was obvious to everyone that he remembered and adored me which REALLY helped me cope with his passing because I felt like I’d done all I could to comfort him and help him 🥰.

You did right by your father. I had to leave my dad's deathbed, to go to rehab, a week before he passed. I could only go because that is where he wanted me to be. We can accomplish great feats of emotional endurance with the support of our loved ones. That support does not disappear after they die. Their gifts stay with us. ❤

My mother in-law was nothing but super sweet which definitely made caring for her a lot easier on me. No they don’t all get mean & nasty! The doctor told me most of the mean and nasty ones were mean before they were diagnosed. Which makes sense cause my mother in-law was very sweet.

@@martharay75that is not accurate. My mother died with frontal lobe dementia and I guarantee you that it made her mean. She was a biter and pincher. It was awful. Please be aware that different affected parts of the brain cause different behaviors. She passed in 2015 and it was time

My mom was a RN for 30 years taking care of people who had dementia/Alzheimers. I worked with the same for 20 years. My mom was diagnosed at 56 with Alzheimer's disease. It's a very brutal, devastating disease. I pray for Bruce, his daughter and all his family. Love is the best gift they can give him now. God bless them. 🙏 ❤❤

He's not, that's them protecting him. He can't feed or dress himself etc can barely speak. It's at the time in the disease where they see this. She's just choosing her words very carefully in an act of protecting her dad. You can see clips where he's not with it.

I experienced something very similar with my Dad when his cancer spread to his brain. He had been sick for 3 years and I was with him every step of the way. I never let myself think about life without him before that point and I felt like I was grieving him even though at that time his body was still here. He was a brilliant man and watching the disease strip away that final part of him was almost unbearable. In the end, the lucid moments he’d have were like precious gifts to us. Praying for strength for Bruce and his family❤️

Anyone who has taken care of their aging parents can tell you dementia is the hardest part of loving and caring for them. It breaks your heart. My 3 siblings and I were all diagnosed with PTSD after taking care of our parents. We all had to go into therapy to realize we did our best.
